Junk.
Depth and complexity has been replaced with "dailies", cash shops, and linear sass. What a depressing list above...

Anyway, my votes:
Biggest Disappointment
Anthem. Awesome gameplay and visual customization are held back by lack of content, a poorly designed and stingy gear system, lack of enemy variety, jank ass UI, glacial load times, and a poor narrative.
Best RPG
Fire Emblem Three Houses. My love for this game cannot be overstated.
Best Battle Royale
N/A. But wrote in Tetris 99, on creativity alone.
Best Ongoing Game
This is down to Warframe or Path of Exile. I'm going to give it to Path of Exile because they do a better job of appealing to both casual and hardcore fans than Warframe's approach of everything is easy (but here's a massive grind no one asked for).
Most Improved MMORPG
The Elder Scrolls Online. I'm still not a fan, but this game went from utter trash on launch to something people actually like.
Most Anticipated
Oh boy, this is disappointing. I'm going to say Crowfall, because I'm a backer, and I haven't had my fill of faction PvP in a long, long time.
Best MMO of 2019
Lol! Not League of Legends, I mean I laughed out loud.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
This should be fixed - Google apparently didn't save the settings when I set this up on Friday. Thanks!

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

I think people forget how small the MMO market was back then. In 1999 I remember being online when EQ1 broke the record for having the most online players at one time. It was 500k. Ya that how many people were online gaming in 1999 at any given moment. Having 200-500k players on a MMO was huge and a big money maker. Now MMOs have millions of active players. As for how many people are playing games online now, I could not even start to guess. It would be easy to say 10's of millions at any given time. In the early 2000's, you had just a small handful of MMOs to pick from, now... hundreds. MMO's didnt even have end game content when they first launched. I remember playing WoW at level 60 at launch and only content was raiding capital cities. Now we get upset if at launch there is not 6+ months of end game content covering many types of game play. We have it so good you cry babies dont even get it.
WoW:Classic was an utter chore to play for me. What WoW :Classic really reminded studios is that they never need to make a new mmorpg again. They can just relaunch the mmorpg from the beginning and call it "classic" or "legacy" or what ever and ppl will fall for it.
Biggest disappointment? As with most recent years, biggest disappointment is a lack of new MMOs
Best Battle Royale? I don't play any of them, tried a few and they seemed super shallow. Unsure why this is even a category.
Best RPG? I've spent soooo much time searching for a new RPG to play this year and haven't managed to find anything. The trend for the last few years seems to be focusing more and more on story, which I hate. It's rolePLAYing, you have to be able to play the role, the gameplay of the role is key. Story is not gameplay, so any RPG focused on story tends to suck in my opinion. So, only RPG I played that was new to me was Witcher 3. And it sucked. Only roleplaying element in the game that I saw was some decisions I could make during quests, rest of the game was just open world hack'n'slash adventure game.
Best Persistent Online Game? The very question confuses me. Do you mean best persistently-online game? Or best online with a persistent world? From the choices presented, I'm assuming the former, in which case I don't really care. Why would I care if something is always-online? Its the gameplay and multiplayer that matters in an online game, not the fact that it's online.
Most Improved MMO? I don't play any MMOs any more, so can't comment. However, my experience of MMOs in the past was that each new expansion made the game progressively worse for my playstyle. Given that there were no new AAA MMOs released this year, this means that in my opinion there are no contenders for this award. But, as I said, I don't play any so can't vote from personal experience.
Most Anticipated in CU as said above.
Best MMO of 2019? It appears I've made the decision that none of them are worth playing, so can't really vote. Except maybe SWG pre-cu which I still jump into every now and again on an emulator. Hopefully next year I'll have been able to play Crowfall and CU so will be able to legitimately vote, maybe even New World (though, didn't enjoy the alpha so cant imagine ill enjoy release).
So clearly there are some that don't. Or else you aren't actually playing "role playing games."

Hopefully it will be fully fledged out over 2020 to make it the equivalent of an expansion like they have said. Hopefully they cam stay the course and keep delivering.
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Unless they intend to drip feed elite specs over living story updates (risking players getting made because their class wasn't first, second, or third in line) or lump them all into a random one, I don't see how the loss of expansions can be made up for.
“Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?”
