"the MMORPG has reached 18 million registered users worldwide, which is quite the accomplishment. Keep in mind, this isn't a subscriber number, but rather the amount of user accounts registered with the game. Still, 18 Million is definitely not anything to scoff. "

    But it could be.

If they have 18 million registered players and 10 million (heck, even 7 million) are subscribed, that's great.

But if they have 18 million registered (of which I'm one and I don't play as I don't like the game - well done as it is) and 500k are subscribed, that is still good but not really impressive given the 18 million they are throwing around.

I think there was a chart showing roughly 1 million subscribers across all regions. If I recall correctly I think I saw this on reddit.

Having 1/18th of the registered users as subscribers is totally believable, especially for a game this popular. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 2mil honestly. All that said, this registered users number is absolutely worthless in terms of metrics.

The 18 million number is 100% meaningless. They are somewhere around 700k to 1.2million active ppl based on studies several groups did looking at achievements you get for doing the main story which is required to unlock the game as you progress.

Still really good for a p2p mmo. But the 18million they are throwing is a marketing ploy. Would be like WoW advertising like what 250-300million accounts. Just makes your game look bigger.

The achievements show in Lodestone profile is set to private at default.
JP players use Lodestone to blog a lot, still only few of them will go into privacy setting to set achievements to public.

NA/EU players rarely use Lodestone at all. Many don't even know it exists.

You can only get achievement data through Lodestone and Lodestone only.
So the real active playerbase is much more higher.
