I have asked this question before, what happens if no one wants to be the king? Maybe someone from SC will feel sorry for them and purchase the monarchy, 3.5k is about the price of a big ship in SC.
I back this game at the lowest " you get a copy of the game at release tier" I get so many emails about events and sales from them, still no access for me. I know were not at the point for the game to release, but come on already it's years past due, give me something.

You have a long time to wait. Not even the “Kings” have been in testing. Peasants are a far off dream.

I pity those so desperate for a new MMO that they'd SETTLE for Chronicles of Elyria.
The most entrainment that I see anyone getting out of the game is the drama that will come of it.
even after the devs try to disappear, it’ll be entertaining as all hell. I mean someone with 10k plus to toss at a game, should be able to afford lawyers to get their entertainment through the legal system.
Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.
"At one point technology meant making tech that could get to the moon, now it means making tech that could get you a taxi."
I want a game like Chronicles of Elyria to be made. So I hope it will be made some day. The money already pledged for this project clearly shows that there is demand for a MMO like this and that people are willing to spend money for it. So the concept is great!
Will SbS be able to deliver it? It doesn't look too good at the moment. We will see...
To be more precise: I don't like the pledge system and the possibility to buy into noble titles and land. That should be achieved by gameplay. But I like the idea of the family dynasty system, character-death, a player-run political and economy system and a low-fantasy-medieval-like MMO.
So I hope some company will make a MMO like CoE with a reasonable monetization system and without P2W-elements. The demand for a MMO like that is obviously there...

For those playing along at home. The fiasco continues with them unable to track/resolve the bugs... The clock is ticking but people cannot buy anything. Great event so far. Maybe it's a plot by the "NPCs" that are buying up the virtual non-real estate on the players.
Bodes well for launch. DEFINITELY people I want to give my money too!

On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me, squat from CoE, land grab a mess, nothing working, NPCs laughing, and another screw up from old CoE.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

I agree to an extent. I can't wait to finally play this game.
But i don't see how paying for a title and land would count as P2W. There are no winners or losers in these kind of games. Not every one can be royalty and very few commoner has ever raised their status to even near to one. If something is achievable in a game your players usually reach it eventually, which means the game would be full of Counts and Dukes in few months and that doesn't make sense at all. We don't need more games where every one are heros and saviours of the world.
Should the game be worth the money and title for the whales it most likely will be an entertaining product for the peasants and militia men as well. If it, on the other hand, turns out to be yet another money grab with gimmicky gameplay and ugly animations, no one gives a damn if you can buy the ownership of the entire universe for a mere pocket change.

I just left the funny parts. The second and 3rd line explains just SOME of the reasons.
The last one just sounds delusional. You actually think there are tons of people saying "May I wanna be a peasant and serve some dude that paid $10k and can make the laws"?
The stats show the game is massively tilted towards the Chiefs and very few Indians. So what is their solution to that? Let's have an event where we let people buy more land and get more Chiefs.
That's gonna end real well when the Count has 2 peasants to push around for the $1000 he spent.

I would love the idea of this IF it were a Sci-Fi game and you could select from several different types of post-apocalyptic/dystopian architecture...but it's not. So screw off with it!
"During the event, NPCs will also be settling in Elyria! This means if you are eyeing up a new Settlement, County, or Duchy, waiting might mean an NPC swoops in and claims this domain, so act fast when you see the right holding at the right price!"
What a crock of shyt! The devs of this game are trying to pinch every dollar out of the poor future players of this game by allowing NPC's to steal the land if you wait too long for it to drop to a reasonable price.
Who in their right minds would spend $3500 to be King of a piece of land to a game that doesn't even have an alpha yet?
If this game never comes to fruition, you only have yourself to blame!

ya know, the song is actually really good, especially when you say CoE as "C-O-E!!!"

Hell, since there's no game, why only four servers? Lets make it 10! Come on guys! Lets claim land for a game that doesn't exist!
