So Pantheon is vaporware because they created a map of the world before making the game? You're right, crowd funded games should be banished and we should go back to the bureaucratic approach of game development which has resulted in nothing but F2P PvP games with P2W cash shops.
I think you are under the "assumption" that just because you crowd fund something, you have any say at all.Not only don't you have a say,you have no idea what the actual game will end up looking like because the early pitch is just a sales pitch to get your money.
Pantheon is vaporware until there is an actual game, before that point arises,it is just promises.

No where on this planet should we be calling promises as an actual game. There might be parts of a game but still not yet a game.Imagine if people crowd funded Fortnite,it is not even remotely the game it was intended to be.How about Ashes, out of nowhere he starts trying to babble on about some BR mode for testing, you cannot trust ANY of these devs, even the ones that are not crowd funding.

I don't get to much invested in these crowd funding projects because i know the end result but man i didn't know it was already 6 years...yikes.I do not think they have 6 years worth of work done yet, maybe 2 years tops.
I'm not saying it's wrong to question something. I'm saying it's ridiculous for someone to complain about a world map as if that's the golden key to game development. Are you absolutely sure you want to defend that? He's literally throwing random ideas into a hat and each day, he draws something out to discuss. Sometimes, it's interesting, but this? Come on man.

I also never said Pantheon was finished, complete or released. I don't think anyone has. Yes, it's still in development, so what's your point? Game development varies from game to game. How big is the game? How many people are working on it? You mean to tell me that you think 6 years for an indie team to develop a full fledged MMORPG is too long? It took Blizzard 5 years to make WoW and that's with a triple AAA company with full funding.

I give Star Citizen a lot of crap but there's a difference between 500 employees and $250 million backing that game and it's been in development since 2011/2012. So sure, crowd funding can end up in a really bad place really quick if one of the developers utilizing it doesn't show a finished product. I don't see the scope and vision that is Pantheon being in the boat of least likely to succeed when it comes to current crowd funded MMOs in development.
You really don't get the point of all this.... It's not about the map, but deception.  Re-read the OP.

Pantheon is the poster child of "is it done yet"... Why because they gave people the assumption years ago that it was coming along good.  Now going on 6 year's theirs no real prof it's even started...... How shallow can you be thinking its about a map !

Apparently they stated theirs weeks worth of beginning zone content where is it !!

Your news letter is full of fluff to keep you happy.
First of all, Star Citizen is the poster child of "is it done yet" so you got that part wrong. The rest of the crowd funded games I think are all of the same scope and design. Whether you're a fan of Crowfall, Camelot Unchained, Pantheon or Ashes of Creation. They are all literally in the same boat, yet here we are discussing Pantheon. You think Pantheon is fake or a scam, yet there's literally dozens of videos of in-game footage of several areas and dungeons. We've witnessed the improvement of combat animations, spell effects and sound effects.

The only mistake Visionary Realms has done, which a lot of crowd funded MMO developers have all done is to give tentative dates on testing and/or release. I think it's pretty obvious, crowd funded games take a lot longer to develop than fully funded games.

I've stated this several times before. I originally backed Crowfall because the "game" looked to be progressing towards a fix for tedious and repetitive grinding in the same areas. I still believe this approach is worth looking into for a lot of MMOs. However, the community behind Crowfall is of course toxic as fuck. This is why I requested a refund and instead decided to back Pantheon.

I'm not worried about whether Pantheon will release. I'm not even sure I'm worried about the pace of development. Visionary Realms is on par with every other crowd funded game. With that being said, perhaps some people shouldn't back crowd funded games that clearly don't have the patience for it. Nothing wrong with waiting till a game is released.

I believe Star Citizen will have it's official release, one day. However, I don't believe it will be close to what Chris Roberts initial vision was. Doesn't mean it won't ever get there. Same goes from Crowfall, Camelot Unchained and Pantheon.
    Thank you,
However it took several mindless digs until you offered a good rebuttal all others are worthless. If you or anyone else typed this for all to see in the beginning people here would see both sides.  People view me as toxic, WELL MOST EVERYONE HERE IS TOXIC !

I stand my ground on the only controversy, BUT you made a valid point that ALL CROWED FUNDED ARE DOING THE SAME.

Visionary Realms being the worst because their not explaining the focus or the purpose of the game....... No one has a clue on what this game is about other than character testing.

    Zero !

People here are saying it's not Everquest 1.... Well, what is it ?
The new letter offers nothing of any substance.... A placeholder of nothing other than saying developers didn't abandon the project.  Testing videos are the same to a point people are not even watching them, they show nothing other than piss poor slow combat that's not viable to "real time gaming" when the group takes two hours to move two hundred yards across the landscape.

Accomplishing nothing.... stream after stream !

6 years of BASIC FLUFF.  They say talk is cheap, their not even good at that. They reveal nothing at all.

Where is the weeks worth of beginning content ?  where ?
NDA my butt.... they better show something, their loosing credibility.

Pretty trite criteria for the worst offender of kickstarter vapour ware games. It will be an MMORPG. EQ and VG are spiritual successors, crisis averted. What is it exactly you want? Do you expect people to give a round of applause because you discovered something unknown to others? Is this like one of those hollywood movies where a woke reporter exposes some corruption that the ignorant masses didnt know and you get showered in virtue?

EQ and VG spiritual successor....What the hell does that mean ?... If its not Everquest 1 or Vanguard what is it ?  I guess the best definition I could think of is it comes next and that tells nothing !.... Good fluff wording.

If you read the OP I give an example of people assuming the game is close, and that was last year. Re-read the OP, because many are getting false assumptions on a lot of things.  Why, because their is nothing about anything in the news letter.

If you know something... please shear it !

    What do I want ?
Nothing I hate deception..... Someone above stated all upcoming crowed funded are doing the same thing but that is only for release dates.  At least they show their being worked on.

Didn't the most recent newsletter contain links to a few videos of devs and streamers such as carnage "playing" the game?

What exactly are you asking for from the dev team? Open access for everyone I'm guessing with no NDA which isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

    What deception?
I still don’t understand where is this deception you are talking about.

The devs share a piece of artwork = deception?
They are not selling any ingame item, present or future, unlike most of the other crowdfunded MMORPGs.

Pantheon is the least deceptive game in development.
All their Funders Packs is just fluff, there are not even cosmetic items you can buy, let alone items which gives advantage in game.

And you are making a big fuss about a piece if artwork (the map)?
Find something else to criticise, this is getting ridiculous.

Well go on then, stick up for a six year in development game that still has yet to offer any idea of what it's about and giving no clue of progress. Yet pages and pages of nothing.

I am not sticking up on anything.
Just saying that criticising any developer for publishing a map as if it was the biggest purchase bait ever, it’s just silly.

If you want to criticise Pantheon go on, but find something less ridiculous.
You don’t realise that this come across as a bit desperate?

The map is the topic because it was made before the game was even a thought. Put on display to deceive the people thinking the game was started.

Still I want to know from him if he prefers VR ‘selling’ forum and newsletter access, or selling armors (cosmetic or not), land, castles, titles, or indeed rainbow mini-ponies (all non existent obviously).

Or, better question; what exactly VR should include in their Funders Packs or generally what should they offer in order to fund their bloody game?
The questions is obviously aimed at the OP who seems quite sensitive on the matter.

I'm a backer and they never took my money. I happily gave them my money. It's not new that MMOs rarely come out on time. Often taking 1-3 years longer then expected. Being a crowd funded game I really don't get how they took our money too soon? Without it, there would be no development. OP needs to shake their head.

I'm a backer and they never took my money. I happily gave them my money. It's not new that MMOs rarely come out on time. Often taking 1-3 years longer then expected. Being a crowd funded game I really don't get how they took our money too soon? Without it, there would be no development. OP needs to shake their head.
So they didn’t tempt you with the beautiful map and exclusive access to their newsletter?
So VR failed with their sophisticated deception?
Just a bunch of failed crooks.....

Hereafter to be known as the Map of Evil. It overwhelms free will and casts a web of deception.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

I wouldn't say crooks but to use peoples money to experiment with graphics textures and animation for six years.  Something that was perfected for over ten years. They had no intention of telling people they were reinventing the wheel. They simply wouldn't pay for it, so they had to use deception.

You don't see Ashes of Creation struggling with it do you ?..... At least their making their game. It's like day one of 3D animation for Visionary Realms.

It's not a scam, will get a game out of it eventually.

So any attempt to show us the direction of the game and concept art makes them a crook? You have a really twisted view of things. By that low standard nothing could be promoted. (((eye roll)))

Ashes of Creation has a working demo which they called Battle Royale.
The MMORPG is non existent in any shape or form.
That’s all they could manage with the money they got from crowdfunding.

Pantheon doesn’t have the beautiful animations (yet) but at least they have a skeleton of a game.
They spent the little money they had more efficiently than Ashes, which had more money available by the way.

But more importantly... VR didn’t DECEIVE their backers by using the money they donated to make a Battle Royale instead of the MMORPG Intrepid promised.
