Been a lurker backer. Haven't bailed because I absolutely loved DAoC even though i was disappointed by WAR. Hoping for good things.

So... drunken posting by the staff here?

Besides providing a link which requires a login is the staff here aware CU alpha and even beta level backers have been testing for many (many) years now.

Probably too busy playing games on their Switch or other toaster.

This story rates a 1 / 5 for both content and quality being largely a lazy cut and paste.

If they read more closely the thread title would more correctly have read something like,  "CU devs make new content available and are looking for additional help testing."

BTW, you know why they need more testers...they've long burned out many of them, as testing has been going on for over 5 years now...even the Euro backers whose timezones overlap better don't care much anymore.

Launching by the end of 2020?

    Yeah right.

I was going to point that out when it was first posted... but it's a new year so I am trying to be nicer in general.

When I first backed this game 5 years ago the only thing I cared about was playing a large scale 3 faction PvP game with many different class and race options.
5 years later that's still the only thing I care about so when I see concept art for armor or trees I begin to wonder if I was wrong to put CU in the non scam crowdfunded game category for the reason that they're creating their own engine be able to have hundreds of players in an area.
I'm sure I can't be the only person who would be fine with a basic playable product at first and then adding everything else later. Not having 17 different types of armor or 10 different styles of trees at launch would probably be ok to most backers as long as the base game works properly.

    Not sure if THIS helps.
Yeah, that accurately tells the full story.

MJ is saying they've made significant progress and that testers are going to be impressed (most of us, he says, not all of us), he says this showing off will happen in second half of January, which to me means late February/early-to-mid March lol, and he says there will be PARTIAL NDA drops starting with this showing off and increasing drops of NDA's through spring.

    We'll see.

I'm hopeful, but I've been let down too many times to be excited yet.

That said, I was in a test yesterday, and it was pretty cool, and showed some progress on combat stuff.

I'll put it this way: I don't care if MJ's "January" turns into mid-March - I care if what they show off is actually impressive NOT AS TECH, but as a demonstration of enjoyable gameplay loops.

Edit: @Slapshot1188 and @Kyleran can I interest you in a friendly wager on when these gameplay streams will actually happen? No stakes other than vanishingly small amounts of pride in getting it close to right.

Yeah, no, I'm more about release phases and dates.

I don’t need to see streams...I’ll be in it to see for myself.

Maybe this 18 months is the real 18 months.  We will see.

Fair enough, i care about how fun it is, but i can see the perspective of "it needs to be fun and launched".
