Awesome, can you give examples how some of the more obscure skills work? Can you train all you want?

For the most part, yeah, you can train them all.  Here's a Wiki with info on each skill!

I am sure it can be fun.
But the game feels and looks old.

I am still on the lookout for a remake of Everquest with a modern twist.

Unfortunately PG is not what I am looking for. It’s  a remake, but with no modern twist.

Oh yeah, you can't go into P:G expecting a modern experience with combat and graphics.  It's very much a game developed for those wanting an older style experience.  Where the game shines, though, is in the intricacies of the skill sets, the interactions of those sets, and in the positivity and dedication of the community and the developers.  I've been playing for a week solid, and I haven't seen one case of someone trolling or shit posting in global chat.

This is the kind of game you wish success for: Small dev team (the main guy is from Asheron's Call). Obviously a labor of love. But yes, while the concept of the game is solid, it would have benefited from a larger team, better tools, and lots more money.

I guess you have to be careful while leveling up the first that you don't level up the second as well.

I've had some good experiences playing this game.  It's an old school grind fest, which a lot of people say they want but not really it seems.   But it is a fun game.  Psychology skill has an attack called, "Tell me about your mother." and it hits for some decent hit points.  :-)

I have a character that's a Necro and the quest you have to do to earn the skill was fun, as it's a dungeon run and you have to kill a certain boss.  There were a group of players all trying to get the Necro skill that the boss dropped.  With so many players in the room I decided to just stay in the back and wait my turn.  The boss appeared and went out of his way to attack me, I got the tag and the skill dropped for me, my lucky night I guess.  Started leveling up the skill to get some decent skeletal mages to give me a helping hand.

So lots of stuff to do, getting lost while you figure stuff out, and you die a lot.
