Looks further along than many of these crowdfunded games developing with millions of dollars.
I'm playing it right now and can say that I prefer it over Shroud which I paid the same $19.99 for. I'm not sure how much more the lone developer can do or at what speed he can create extra features/content but for the effort/thought already put in I consider the purchase to be worth it and a contribution to this individual for a job well done.
As for the cash shop gripes I see the courage to add those "fun" usable items as a step in the right direction for the MMO genre. 1. For creating items that look fun to use and are useful. 2. Being brave enough to go against the mob and put items at a price that the single developer felt would be worth the effort he put into creating it.
I wish the dev the best of luck. Not for me type of game but for one dev its a work in progress. Nice use of Unity + Atavisim and store assets. Solid one dev start.
What is the point of designing a combat system if the foes just die almost instantly?
This is the same reason i can't stand ARPG's,what is the point? So when i see a developer designing or i should say, lack of design in a combat system,i know this developer is not very good at it's job of creating a mmorpg.
The foggy graphics are maybe an "atmosphere"design but i don't buy it,i looks to me like crappy graphics cutting down on viewable assets to lower bandwidth.
The game just looks like an indie game, looks like something from the 90's.
I am also not a fan of point systems, that is what gear is for.IMO point systems have always been there in games to fool people into thinking they are doing something and further emphasizes a min/max system which i also do not agree with.I don't want to be spending points all in on say a fire spell to attain the best possible dps,i want access to doing the best i can in ALL areas of character customization.

Why would we be directed to check out their Facebook page to find out more?
This site posted this article,so give us the information because there is nothing in this thread.
Facebook should be the LAST place on Earth anyone should be told to go to.
This thread smells heavily of advertising and being tied directly to Facebook is a big time NO WAY.
Checked it out on Steam,it is a pile of crap, looks like a LAZY 1990's design, all fogged out graphics so that nobody needs to work on optimization because there is VERY little ever in view.
Combat is some giant numbers flashing on screen ruining the view then the enemy just dies, seems like some kid designed the combat systems.
It's a one designer early access MMORPG project that costs ~ $20. It isn't going to offer a cutting edge experience in either aesthetics or game play, obviously.
Compared to some other titles with few developers, Project: Gorgon for example, it doesn't look all that shabby either.

I'm interested to know how and in what ways you feel it does the job better than say PG. The main thing I liked about Shroud, when I played it, was the skill system.
A cash shop is pretty much a deal breaker for me now though. I am pruning cash shop games from my play list and making a real effort not to add them. It completely pollutes the game play for me. If someone can't charge what they want/need for a title and put the entire experience within the game itself, then it's just not worth my time. There are so many games now and not enough time to play them all.
Compared to PG this game doesn't make you do many different things to get to where you want to go. In PG to get extra inventory you must level up two or three different lines of crafting to get more bag space all of which REQUIRE lots of bag space/inventory to do. If you are lucky you will meet a high level crafter who will be kind and give you what you need. I have almost the max amount of inventory in PG but can tell you that to get it all on my own was a rather unpleasant experience and did not feel rewarding at all which I think was not the intention of the creators when designing it that way.
In PG vendors that buy your stuff are limited in funds they have per week. So if you find a nice farming spot with your limited bag space and the vendors in that area run out of coin to give you for SPECIFIC goods because PG vendors do not buy everything just specific items you will either have to throw out GOOD items or run to another zone just to sell what you need to and if they run out of coin then tough tiddees cause then now you'll have to go two zones away to sell stuff and so on. There are bank type inventory chests in each zone in PG that you can get by raising rep with some npc's but not all of those chests are able to hold every type of item so you have to play a non-stop inventory management mini-game all the time. In Reign you can farm one area all you like and sell a countless amount of items to vendors and they buy everything. Vendors are also for the most part relatively close at all times so you'll never really have to go too far to sell stuff.
In Reign your only real goal is raising levels to get skill & attribute points and earning gold. The main purpose for in-game gold right now is to get those mounts/wings that are the same mounts/wings being sold in the cash shop.
In PG there are a lot of intersecting skill lines that give benefits in one by raising another. At first I thought "how deep" but after 1k hours later realized it was just created that way to make it seem like there's a lot to do when most of it is completely unneeded and in a way forces you to do things you really don't want to do.
In PG you are restricted in using certain weapons(weapons determine what weps you can use) in certain hands so you may find two weapons you love using but cannot use them both at the same time. THIS is my biggest gripe with PG. All the weapons I like I cannot use at the same time.
In Reign you can pick any combination of 3 classes. If you find 3 classes where you like using certain spells you may be a little underpowered BUT you are not prevented from playing how you want to because of "reasons".
I come off kind of hard on PG but I still like the game and commend the two devs responsible for creating it even though some design choices did eventually lead me to stop playing.
Compared to Shroud I just consider Reign to be more fun. There's no caste system like in Shroud and everyone starts off on the same playing field with everything the same UNLESS you buy the flying mounts for real money that makes getting to quests MUCH easier. People speak in chat in Reign and the world does not feel dead. In Reign you must group up for dungeons and your first one is early on so people are socializing to an extent. I agree with you about liking the skill system in Shroud and don't really have anything bad to say about that except that they should have expanded on it a bit more since I think it was that game's best feature.
I don't see why people are complaining about early access. The game is in Alpha and has 1 producer. IMO it's pretty damn polished for an Alpha with such little dev backing. Yes there's still a TON of room for new content, races, class, dungeons, so on, but seriously if your 1 gripe is "oh it's early access, it's garbage" then your comment is meaningless. I've already spent a good 10+ hours playing and, yes there's some minor gripes I have with controls, targeting and some other small piddly shit, but the game thus far is definitely worth the measly 20 bucks ya'll are crying over. Maybe support small developers that actually need the money to develop games in hope to have something fun an unique and stay away from the big AAA companies out to make a buck?

Thank you for explaining this in detail. It gave me an idea about the game and PG is Project Gorgon I presume.

Welcome to the forums!
Disagree with you about EA, for me this does not indicate the state of the game is poor, it shows a mentality to revenue streams that does not bode well of the launched game. Also how long are those who put money in expected to wait till launch after EA? Two years, ten? But do think hope still lies in CF MMOs, they are the only chance we have of some new blood in MMO gameplay.
so much hatred, jealousy and judgement. no one can appreciate anything any more. one person (guy or girl i dont know) built this. What have you done better? i applaud their efforts to create something playable that they love and want to share it with you. But all you can do is spit in their face and say its no good. hope you find joy somewhere in your life because most of you are miserable people.

For what it's worth it runs smoother than project gorgon. Also, I like the more "serious" atmosphere as Project Gorgon's whole curse/cow thing is a huge turn off.
The character building does seem fun but I was decimated as, for some reason, I couldn't figure out how to actually attack or use my skills!

It ruins it in so many ways. Once these companies learned they could make alot of money on early access the genre took a turn for the worse.
