Someone mentioned a more Diablo type game. That makes sense,a cheaper game to create and Planeswalkers are too op in the TCG game, sop makes sense you have some op character/Planeswalker to easily obliterate stuff.
That kind of ARPG type combat does not do a single thing for me,looks lame to me.
I don't get it,Planeswalkers were the reason i quit playing MTG,but i think WOTC feels like it is great selling point.
Your going to need a good game design to get me on board,i don't fall for cheap gimmicks like "be the best Planeswalker",for myself that is a NON selling point, will turn me off faster than a light switch.
Yeah it is kind of cheesy but in 2020 in the age of battle royale exterminating everyone else to be last one standing or p2w players buying power to be stronger than others I can see how it may be a selling point for some.
Although i was hoping for a WoW MMORPG i'm not disappointed in what I saw. I will play it and for a pre-alpha it looks pretty damn good. For one i saw some skills with big animations which I like. I would definately play this over Torch Light Frontiers.
I am a little disappointed that there seems to be no summons anywhere in that video though. Or maybe I missed it. And I didn't expect a Diablo style game either... not a deal breaker entirely, but those type of games typically completely lack the character customization that MMOs do, aside from some outfit skins.
It does lower the chances of me playing it though. I'm rarely in the mood for this style of games, and I already have Diablo and PoE to play if I do want something like this... plus it doesn't feel like MtG to me based on that video. No tactical aspect of resource building and management, no summons... it might as well be any generic adventurer character instead of a "Planeswalker" since I saw nothing to set it aside from a Wizard or whatever on Diablo and similar games.
TL;DR version: I guess what it comes down to is that I don't really see any of the aspects that makes MtG the IP that it is. It looks like a generic ARPG with just the name MtG tagged onto it so far.

Aww man, I was really hoping for a WoW/ESO/FFXIV kinda MMORPG. Not a Diablo stlye one. Super disappointed. Maybe I missed something, but I wasnt expecting this. Looks decent, and im sure it will be good. Just kinda disappointing based on what I personally am desiring.
Ultima Online was bird's eye view and my favorite game of all time.
How come I never even once played any of the Diablo games?
Don't judge the game solely by the bird's eye view. It doesn't look that bad to me. Maybe this will be the Ultima Online successor that so many people have hoped for but just isn't or hasn't yet been compared to UO yet.
DMkano brings good insight into many things. I do enjoy when he beats a dead horse though (AA:Unchained). It is like he cant even refrain himself from saying the st7ff he says

I was hoping for something more 1st or 3rd person type of MMO with MTG which I'm a big fan of, but another Diablo clone is not really my thing. I will definitely give it a chance though because it might prove to be more fun than it looks.
This is exactly what I was trying to point at, under an earlier news piece where the thread quickly shifted over to the PWE/lootboxes/crap trinity... while everyone seemed to ignore the fact they want to do a Magic game, and an action crap MMO.
There, now you have it in motion too. Magic of Exile. Or Magic Immortal if you like, since as Mensur said above, it looks suspiciously easy to push on mobiles as well.
Where's the Magic in this? Just some flavor here and there, at most.
I agree, however still way too early to guess final product.
We do know it will be Top Down (Isometric).
We do know it looks more ARPG than MMO.
The first I don't necessarily mind.
The second bothers me greatly. The lore of MTG, and potential was tremendous; and it could have been amazing. It may still be fin, but.....
It could have been worse. It could have been an MtG BR
People copy the Diablo Isometric loot piñata because a lot of people like and play those games. Much more so than the video card game style apparently.

I'll likely give it a try as a fan of this style of game. PWE being involved isn't often a good sign - that said Remnant: From the ashes was absolutely fantastic imo and they did publish that, so I do have a little more faith in them than in the past. Time will tell.

Perfect World = Pay2Win, no thanks, not to mention the lousy security, after the "WAR OF THE IMMORTALS" hacks and Pay2Win experience some years ago, PW nevermore.
Interested to see more as it develops. For MTG I'd prefer a more traditional MMO than an ARPG I think, but I do enjoy both styles of games. So *A* game, warts and all, is better than no game in my opinion.
As others have mentioned in this thread, PW games are usually heavily pay-to-win hence I would be shocked if this game isn't. I am just amazed at the mentally challenged people that throw money at these games.

Me neither tbh.
