Beta is the process where we start testing our system with larger numbers of players. And where will we get those players? Well, we’ll start inviting the people who have registered at crowfall.com, of course! In addition to our sixty-three thousand backers (my favorite people in the world!), we have amassed more than three hundred thousand registrants (people who I am hoping might become my favorite people, once we launch).
When beta begins, we’ll start to invite these folks to play, in waves. Those waves will likely start in the hundreds, then jump into the thousands and eventually we’ll be inviting in waves of 10k+ people at a time. Think of it like filling a vase with water: pour in too much, too quickly, and it might shatter. Start small, adding more over time, and you can find and fix the leaks until you eventually reach max capacity.
If you are reading this blog and want to play the beta:
ALL backers will have access to it as soon as it hits TEST,
REGISTERED non-backers will be invited in waves,
NON-REGISTERED folks need to register at crowfall.com (and if you get impatient waiting for your wave to be called, you can always back us for immediate access once it goes live).

That said, the upcoming CF beta is free. The only requirement is to make an account on Crowfall.com. All of the people who will be trying out the game for free can thank those of us who helped to fund the game. Without us, the game wouldn't exist.

So in a roundabout way devs have got those PRE ORDERS they had hoped for years only now with no promises. No product on that pre order,no problem, get your money back,NOW....lol,thanks for your money ,i bought a new house, new car, took the family on a great vacation, isn't life great,so many people to exploit.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
But then again, IIRC, people that purchased the Beta Access are in fact not paying more than those that will buy it at launch, so, they are getting the perks for free, just a bonus for simply jumping in sooner.
But then again, like any game, the goal is to fleece us all, in any way they can. So, there is that.

But we'll never know...
BTW, this game is now mostly investor funded....and its whose wishes the devs cater to now.

COol, thanks
Philosophy of MMO Game Design
I really liked the concept when I first saw it but I'm a bit sceptical if the developers will really deliver what they planned, it seems like a lot of work. Especially the seasons/campaign part.
Of all the crowdfunded MMO's with PvP (medium-scale or larger ones at least), Crowfall seems the closest to delivering on its initial scope/plans from what I've seen - what am I missing here?
For reference, I’ve been on and off playing Crowfall since 2016 and also pretty much invested in every other crowdfunding MMORPG out there. These guys are furthest along, really.

So thanks I guess to all those 'beta" teasters that wanted to rub it in everyone's face they were beta testers.... you allowed the Game Companies another venture of revenue.
I am sure they thank you.. well.. in an obscure general way, not in a personal way, anyway, I can't blame a company for trying to make an honest buck.
