People need to stop feeding this company so that they release it in early release form or the workers will just keep feeding on your money, for another 10+ years.
Are you a crowdfunding backer of Star Citizen?
I am.
I have been playing it for years now in the Alpha version. And enjoying it.
Have fun
How much do they pay you? Real question...
I'm alot of things (most of them bad)_ but a shill I am not.
I am paying them.
You may want to look up the concept of "crowdfunding".
why everytime I read something about star citizen, I remember all the memes and jokes about duke nukem forever?
Because you can't figure out the difference with open development from a +500 devs company having two roadmaps updated monthly... including quarterly patch released and playable by +1.2 million individual backers

Pretending someone is does not make you a prophet either You missed the point of ten thousands new backers joining at every patch.... Nobody forced tou to ignore facts or to twist reality but you did it.
Crowdfunded model means backers are pleding TO not the opposite
And - this is the fun part - backers can try out the results. Means they can't hide. They can't say they have done something when they haven't. Non-backers get to try out stuff as well during free-fly events.
And people can - and clearly are - making up there own mind and are concluding that there is "a game" in the making. So no need to listen to what I think - or to your guesses.
So whilst I suspect they might be pushing resource onto SQ42 I don't know.
You know that they can't hide their work and there's no need to guess, and your best guess is that they're putting in a lot of work that's hidden?
No guesses from me about what state SC is in that was the previous poster. And as you acknowledge they are not hiding what has / has not been done on SC. Why I said to the poster I responded to: people can try what is there and make up their own mind.
Nor did I make a "best guess" about them pushing resource onto SQ42. I would call it common sense. At least its obvious to me.
- They have provided a target for SQ42's beta. - Some SQ42 stuff is late.
And if I was running things then - to the extent that it was possible - I would: - shift people working on SC only onto stuff needed for both SC & SQ42 or SQ42 only. - potentially resulting in some SC stuff slipping or being moved out.
So as I said not a "best guess" just a "common sense" take on it. (And standard PM).
But here's the simple thing CIG could do - put out a statement confirming that the removal of blah, blah, blah is because of their refocus on Squadron 42's beta later this year. Otherwise it is nothing but speculation and why would you want to put your backers in a situation where they are wondering what's happeining to the roadmap, what 's happening to all the gameplay features they've been looking forward to etc.
So much stuff has been pushed from one quarter to the next with the majority of it ending up in 3,9 only to now get moved on once again or removed entirely. Up until now backers believed that 3.9 was going to be "the content patch" only to find it is not.
The patches over the whole of the last year, since the Squadron 42 beta announcement have been thin on the ground, that could indicate they had already removed people from SC to Sq42, in which case there was never any hope of getting all 3.9's features in.

Yeah, but you are "weird" like that.
"Most" people want the play the full golf course, not just the first six holes.

You look at how they have performed against their roadmap to date. If you do you conclude that a) they are not perfect but b) they are not that bad that you should dismiss it out of hand.
This is not e.g. June: its releasing at the end of 2019; October: its releasing at the end of 2019; Nov: OK its probably going to be 2021.
And as for them moving milestones out, moving milestones in we have no idea what that means.
What we have seen - in the past - is that the milestones don't have the same "weight". So taking 10 milestones out might be the equivalent of removing 10 jelly beans from a sweet jar whilst the one addition could be the equivalent of 100 jelly babies.
So whilst I suspect they might be pushing resource onto SQ42 I don't know.
I've been developing software for almost 30 years now, and have never moved features out except to defer them from the planned release and into a later phase. (Or kill them entirely of course)
So their development methodology is new to me, I think perhaps your theory about shifting resources around to get SQ42 out the door is a sound one, otherwise I can see no logical reason for them to move features in and out since they don't have a solid release date, it goes when it's all finished, or so it is often said.

It is sort of strange they aren't paying you, I think you backers should form a "union" or something.

This article / thread is a bit misleading. They did not include the descriptions of each 'removed item'. If people go read the original post over on the Star Citizen forums, some of those features were moved to 4.0, not removed. Some of them got moved to the 4.0+ roadmap which hasn't been written up and added yet, thus no visibility, and some have been temporarily removed from the roadmap till the associated gameplay features tied to them have been implemented.
That being said, for those saying "They need to release the game in an early state".. uh hello? We have a playable Alpha for years now that has been progressing in development quite rapidly for the last two or three years now. Major features to such as planetary tech and atmospheric flight. In its current state, there is an actual game to play and has seen a ton of improvements raging from new content to straight up performance improvements.
Yes, CIG is definitely not perfect. As a backer and someone who's been following the development of the game for years; CIG has done some dumb stuff sometimes. I will be the first to call them out when those things happen, but as far as development has gone; I don't have any worries. I've seen the speed at which the game has been developed ramp up personally as someone who actively plays.

Whoever wrote the MMORPG.com article made a mistake. RSI published a list of stuff that was "moved or removed", and MMORPG.com published that whole list as stuff that was removed.
In reality only about two thirds of the article's list was removed from roadmap. The last third was stuff that was delayed but is still on roadmap.
All this should be expected, it is still Alpha for a reason. I backed back in 2012 just following development as it went. Playing off and on to see for myself. The last year has seen more added to the game than ever before it seems. I'm excited to see what this year brings but know "release" likely won't be until 2022/2023.
Game development roadmaps are constantly updated and changed along the way. Somehow this is still news for some people and some even try to make drama out of it lol
No wonder dev's keep their development behind doors when most gamers are just too ignorant and immature to deal with it.

8 years and more money than the all Toy Story movies took to make, while Pixar was also creating the software to animate the movies, it is incredulous that people are saying this is OK. I can hear the fan-boi's now, ' I will throw more money at them and maybe this time next year, or the next or the next or the next - it will come out'.

Tons of shills are having fun in SC Alpha. All of them paid. Makes you wonder how they're able to fund that game. Doesn't make sense. Maybe it's drugs money, maybe it's all a money laundering operation lol
