    You can still get windows 10 free on the Microsoft site

    Upgrading after missing the boat for free upgrade, you're locked into the Insider Program, and can't turn off certain "feedback" features, if it's still done that way i dunno?

    Never heard of that. I just did this on a work computer a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine. Download the media creation tool free from MS and run it. Choose to upgrade this PC and done! You're not locked into the insider program or anything like that. You'd have to opt into the insider program if that interested you.

    Can confirm, I just upgraded my windows 7 upgrade of windows XP using that tool as well. For free, no evidence of an insider program. I created a boot drive for it as well, hoping I don't have to upgrade an upgrade if I decide I want to start fresh...

    I work in IT and over the last 3 months, I've upgraded 70+ PCs from Windows 7 to 10 via the Media Creation Tool and haven't been forced to join any programs, etc. No charges from Microsoft. Easy peasy. Now of course, this could end at any time... and when/if that does, THEN inexpensive OS keys might actually be interesting.

    I've been leery of upgrading to Win 10, the one time I tried it on my Sager gaming laptop was it was first offered didnt turn out well.

    My sound card didnt work and I regularly suffer the infamous BSOD several times before deciding to fall back to Win 7.

    Doesn't bolster my confidence that Microsoft regularly sends messages to both of my laptops saying they don't recommend installing Win 10 on either.

    Their solution?  I am told to replace them with new computers with Win 10 on them.

    When the product becomes free, you are not the buyer, but the product itself.  I preferred the days when microsoft simply monopolized the market to try to sell a product as opposed to today where they give away the product to exploit the users of their product.

    Good to know, thanks! I upgraded every machine immediately, didn't snooze on free lol, was probably rumors.
