Overwatch definitely. EU = Europe The best balance of the character, a large variety of effects. I love World of Warcraft also and similiar Blizzards games like Overwatch. But Warcraft universum is excellent and World of Warcraft is the best Multiplayer Mass Online Game in our galaxy ;-) :-* I saw a few times a people who are too great fot wasting thgeir life in a seat and watching TV - now they live in virtual reality in World of Warcraft and they are so rich - they've got a lot of WoW gold and healers - cause in World of Warcraft it's necessary to cooperate and play with healer. But IF and this is a big "IF" you'll try to buy WoW gold, then you should go to trusted marketplace or shop and find some legal gold. First you have to tell me what is your Server - probably it is WoW EU (Europe) and you need yo buy WoW EU gold (World of Warcraft EU) gold. After you submit and create your free account you can buy cheap WoW gold and maybe pay some great healer for his job - Healers are more important than gold and wow items and for 100% sure you can't buy best healer - but you can buy wow gold, weapons, swords, amulets and other items and use them in the game. ;-) For some WoW currency you should go to the legal and legit site like this and buy wow eu gold https://odealo.com/games/wow-eu after you visit this site answer me and tell me about your feellings and how it's like. You're welcome friends
The best part is the very concept however, the melee dps healer, bashing in skulls while keeping the party alive
RIFT had something along that line too— the "Duracell Cleric" build. AoE (mostly-frontal 180°) DPS which also cast group HPS. With the best gear he could get, my Duracell Cleric had the top DPS in Dungeons _AND_ the top HPS, and no one died unless they stood in stupid.
I love healing, but for some reason I cant stand the "divine priest healer" stereotype, which represent most of the healing classes out there ... I prefer tech healing or shaman-druid types. I admit its hard to find games where Healers are not just the heal bot tagging along, and the role is appreciated...
** My ideal healer would be something like the scoundrel / operative healing in SWTOR, because to be able to stealth, backstab, kick people in the nuts WHILE healing is pretty great imo haha. You have lot of tricks and support abilities . A lot of HOTS healing, so its keeping you proactive. Commando / Bounty Hunter healing is fun too, healing bombs and Assault cannon, hell yeah! I wish we had more options for character building tho, also targeting is a bit clunky and its a lot of health bar-watching.
** I just began to do endgame content in ESO, so far, Warden and NightBlade healing are pretty fun. Not crazy about the targetless smart healing and weapon bar swapping tho, but at least you have more liberties building your characters than other games. ADDONS are great and add so much more to the game.
** The assault healing in the Secret World is awesome, and I wish more games would focus on a kind of DPS-leech healer like this, its refreshing !
** I loved fiddling with the healing/support skills of Artificer in DDO, while still retaining Rogue skills, trap finding for dungeons, etc ... Healing/Cleansing bombs , bubbles and such, scrolls and wands, maybe not viable for harder content, but still fun I mean, launching an healing bomb in a bunch of undeads heal your allies there AND hurt the enemies XD
I want to try healing in WOW, but im a bit scared to jump there as an healer, as it could be pretty unforgiving for noobs I feel ?
And Vanguard had SO MUCH BETTER healers its not even funny.
For starters: NO DOWNTIME EVER. Sitting down did nothing. To regenerate your mana, you had to use active attacks.
Far more complex and interesting to play. Far more things to do. Far more strategies available. Far more attacks, debuffs, etc. Far better solists, and far more powerful in general. Far more variants, too - there was five Cleric affinities (not too different in gameplay but still), three Shaman patrons (VERY different in gameplay, actually), and there was Disciple and Blood Mage who again played very differently.
My Death Cleric for example had a stance which basically turned him into a mage, though limited to just one type of spell damage, and limited in other regards as well. Still, I could fearkite on him, and against certain mobs while solo, this was very useful. Granted, the affinity to go for was War - giving extra melee damage instead of extra magic damage. The reason I picked Death was really just style.
And healers in Vanguard all could heal about equally well, though in different ways. The Disciple for example wasnt such a great group healer; however they could massively heal a single target, even without mana. The Blood Mage on the other hand could groupheal aggrofree, i.e. without any heal aggro, every time the landed a critical hit with a spell, and if you built them right they would crit all the time. They could also heal single targets free of heal aggro with a redirected lifetap - so instead of healing the caster, this lifetap would heal the target, and the only aggro the Blood Mage would get was damage aggro for it.
Lineage 2, on the other hand, you either could play healer or buffer. I mean OK I played darkelf / Shillien Elder which got close to such a hybrid, but they nerfed them later, basically making them into another buffer class. The only other option which was somewhat of a hybrid was Elven Elder, dunno of that got nerfed as well. Human healers have been total specialists, there was prophet which IIRC was a pure buffer and nothing else, and there was bishop which was a pure healer and nothing else.
EQ because you get gratitude. Or FFXIV for the "standard" expectation of a healer if that's what you're looking for.
LOL at the gratitude part but oh so true.
I loved playing a white mage in FFXIV and also an Operative in SWTOR. I grouped with my husband in SWTOR while he did the DPS I healed our companions and him. It was really loads of fun.
When i played Final fantasy xiv back then, healing was pretty much the standard of what i come to expect in a mmorpg. Pug instances were also fun when u manage to keep the party going from the brink of death, had tons of commendations from it.
Ragnarok Online came to mind as well, you definitely had much more utility than just a heal bot, as there are many maps where a healer excels by healing undeads to kill them instead.
I get the feeling most that commented never played FFXI because it is easy hands down the best healers game on the planet.
Sub jobs makes it auto superior to 99% of the mmo's and then there are many choices from Red Mage to White mage to Dancer,to even other not so obvious choices like bard,Black Mage or Scholar or even Blue mage can all heal.Even the Paladin has access to Cure 4 as well a few White Mage spells.
Then of course as mentioned because of the sub jobs you can mix and match anything,so basically a Healer could do other things as well on top of the many things it can already do.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Every healer in every MMO does more than heal now.
Is a Dark Elf Cleric in EQ 1 called a "Blue Heeler?"
Maybe not...
I'll see myself out...

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR

Well my point was to make sure i don't get a response typical of "well healers should do more than just heal because it is boring ".
Also your statement is very superficial because doing more is not the SIMPLE answer. The most important aspect of a role playing game is to remain steadfast on the ROLE idea.
So inside of FFXI a pure healer is still mainly a healer, example the White mage and Redmage.I do not endorse game designs where the healer is just a fake part of the group where everyone just does their own thing and not really a group[oriented group.Example the GW2 design is laughable to me.
FFXi's sub job only allows the sub job to be HALF of the main job, that makes sure you are not abusing other roles and remain mostly your main role.
When i look at the term "BEST" i look at FFXI's Healer design because i can generalize by saying it has MORE options, meaning it can already do what EVERY other healer can do and MORE.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
A lot of other games try too hard to ride the fence between DPS and Support (FFXIV is a great example of that). WoW has the best support class design, and diversity, IMO.
FFXIV. When I started playing WoW a few months ago I tried to play a healer first and people expected someone experianced. Which makes sense given how long the game is out. I am not one also that watches Youtube videos of how to do certain bosses and how to play a class. So I rerolled a Warlock and I love it.
FFXIV is no different than WoW. Level up and do Max Level Content, Lol.
Generally, I dislike how FFXIV has basically balanced the game in a way that requires healers to do the job of two archetypes.
I do like how WoW classes generally allow you to switch roles by respeccing, though. If you end up not liking playing healer, you can often just switch roles to DPS. This is possible in FFXIV, but you have to level those other jobs (and sometimes re-gear for them, WoW itemization is more friendly for that).
Shaman and Druids were barely healers before ~2005 or so. Lol. For the first 4 years or so of EQ's life you basically needed a cleric to do any mildly challenging content, because the Druid and [esp.] Shaman had really inefficient heals.
They did add bigger heals to them later on, but for the first few expansions Druids were more DPS than healers, and Shaman... Slow/Malo bots, basically.

Philosophy of MMO Game Design
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Really liked the Disciple
and the Vanguard Bloodmage was so much fun..
also DaOc, my midgard healer which was a combination of healing and cc was incredible
strangely the most fun i had healing in any game, was a classless game
elder scrolls online... its so much fun healing..
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
