When this game releases it will be my #1 mmorpg until the new mmos like Blue Protocal and Pearl Abyss's new mmos release.

I recall the quest obscurity when I played on the Japanese servers. I did use guides. I enjoyed this game when I played it but the odd freezing on the Japanese servers forced me to leave. Looking forward to this.

only problems i had on jap servers were the latancy and lack of mobs in lower levels when you first start its grind fest through and through also the lack of Beast race in PSO2 was annoying too

I also had a lot of fun in the cbt. The game ran well and I hope it is not too long before open beta and release.

It was a good time! I only got to play the opening mission, but it's clear that I'll be coming back.

Also I think the game is 4K on Xbox One X.  :)

It might be. It doesn't look great on XB1. It will probably look better on PC, but I hear they even released it on mobile in JP.  Accessibility will probably do them more favors than high graphics, but as a PC gamer primarily, I hope it looks much better on PC on all high settings.

Has anyone already played? What are your impressions?
  • koldmiserkoldmiser Member RarePosts: 353
Tried it on my One X this weekend. I can confirm it runs 4k, but it presented sort of a mixed package. In some ways in looked good, in others it seemed to really enforce how dated this game is.
It was fun to play for a bit, but I just kept thinking I could be playing something similar with better graphics and more modern features.

I would like to think I could play something better that was more updated too, but unfortunately, I can't. I think the closest  thing would be FFXIV, and I didn't really enjoy that game much.

I was talking to a friend who enjoys the PSO games too, and we concluded that PSO has everything. Like literally, everything, player housing, shops, fishing, gambling, rng loot rolls, classes and subclassing, pets, crafting, large scale enemy battles... it has just about everything MMOs have, but many of them are instanced.  There are a ton of MMOs out there that don't have half of the things PSO2 does.

Now this is good news! Great read btw, ty.

Having played and finished Phantasy Star 1 and 2, played a lot of 3, bought 4 and checked it out was about it, ofc my interest here is high, but i didn't know about this western release, guess i've always heard rumbling but this is reality, nice! I'll be checking this out when officially released, obv.

I'm just excited to be able to play a release of this that doesn't have a fan made english patch. It really throws me off when I get an item in game that is all in Japanese when everything else is in english and I have to guess what it is.

    Can't wait for launch here.

I used to play PSO, it was good fun. I read about 2 but the conversations, articles and forum posts I saw on it said it'd never get released in the West. I'm please they were wrong lol.

On another note, Look at all these positive posts, it's refreshing to see people not crapping on a game for once!

When I look back, I think Phantasy Star Online on my Dreamcast was my first real online game addiction. I loved that game. Definitely excited for this one.

I am from the EU too, the game won’t be region locked.

To be fair, the game has been ported and revamped somewhat over the years. By comparison, Guild Wars 2 launched the same year. I find it a little funny that so many will consider playing one but not the other.  Especially since so many people would probably enjoy PSO2 more, as they have way more RPG systems and progression opportunities than other MMOs.

to be fair I do consider the "anime" draw graphics one of the best to long year, they kinda don't age so they still look good, but since most people on this forum, I don't why, hate the anime draw thing.

its like when I look at wild arms or nocturne, they still somewhere look good, but then I see FF7 and FF8 with a lot of graphical draw, its really aged bad

We´ll see, I have played several MMORPGs on USA servers over the years and never had to deal with bad latency. Then again, what do you consider bad?

If anyone knows, curious about a couple questions. So how close is this game to the Dreamcast version? Also is it only slated for Xbox and PC?
