I already usually feel like a stick in the mud with Early Access games, and I know some people love it and feeling that they're impacting the development of a title, but this feels a bit egregious. Charging $28.99 CAD for what is essentially testing their servers and base functionality with a bulk of the actual gameplay systems and content being absent is wild to me. It's even more wild when you consider how many great, actually completed games are available for much less. Not to mention how a majority of reviews for titles in this state are usually rosy with the future in mind instead of critiquing what's there now.
As for this game itself, I agree with other sentiments that it's just a weird aesthetic for Lovecraftian horror.
I streamed the game this evening and personally enjoyed it. It kinda feels like Human Fall Flat in MMORPG form with the physics based combat that it currently has. A lot of work is needed and the devs seems to be very responsive. Hoping for good things as they continue to roll out patches.
The trailer on Steam shows them ripping off (paying homage to?) imagery from True Detective Season 1. The pose of the sacrifice, the "Carcosa-like" pig man holding up a "Rust-like" protagonist, and the spiraling birds. Even the music was derivative of TD. Maybe the gameplay is alright though...
The Steam store page mentions a free lifetime subscription if you play during Early Access.
Does this mean we're looking at an MMO with a subscription model? That in itself makes the game worth a look once they've added all the things they say they want to add.
Obviously it's horrible in this alpha state (and I question the wisdom of putting it out there so early in development), but any game that's not free-to-play shovelware deserves at least a tiny shred of respect.
They really ought to use a a starker shader if they want to impart a Lovecraftian tone. The palette is a bit too conventional. But isn't that nearly always the case with games inspired by Lovecraft? I feel like nobody seems to get it right, and they always end up trying to sell normies on Cthulu, and he's the least interesting deity in the pantheon.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
