The very first question turned me right off,it tells me they have no clue but just aim for lame ideas like lights coming off loot so players can recognize it.So to mention we want players to quickly recognize if the loot is needed or not is such a lame superficial idealism to aim for.

He tries to toss in the letters RPG,it is no more an rpg experience than an ARPG is which is like .../not.

What the division is/was is a non immersive trip through linear lanes with glowing lights protruding off of loot. There were at times no where to go but through a linear winding path of cars, like you were not in a world with your own choices but guided through a connect the dots simulation.

Sure i know the streamer houses were paid off to play their game,so tons of freebie players endorsing the product but it was not even close to FUN for me,the exact opposite. We have already had TONS of shooters,to simply make another generic shooter with fake looking immersion ruining lights coming off loot and bullet sponge enemies is like taking a trip through memory lane while doing NOTHING to be your own unique shooter, just another ho hum with a different skin.

So let's make another with a different skin only streamline it to cut costs, yeah seems like a legit reason for gamer's to buy another.100% guarantee they won't be getting my money, put some effort into your game and if going to call it a rpg experience you better darn well feel like a rpg.

Hey look another paid expansion that disconnects players forcing them to upgrade to play with their friends who got it. Also, why the hell would they go back to the original? I mean Division 1 kinda flopped so going back to the roots of the game is a bit weird to me.

It's a different area of new york. Completely remade. Plus if you buy the xpac you can immediately level to 30 and join them in NY.  D1 wasn't a flop, it did pretty well. I for one am excited to go back to NY.

Since it's a 1 for 1 recreation, I'll know the area pretty well

And that link goes to a "Not Found" Ubisoft web page. Maybe they took it down?

I gave up on the Division 2 after their 2nd attempt to 'fix' loot just made everything worse... that and them making the most powerful items exclusive to raid - because no would do it otherwise

None of these answers give me any confidence that they have fixed, or even paid any attention to, the core issues with the game; e.g. bullet sponge enemies, the vast majority of weapon variants being useless, DPS be it via guns or skills being the absolute king of everything... maybe they will pull a 1.8 and make it decent, but I'm certainly not giving them any money to find out.

Correct me if i'm wrong, will they sell the expansion and battle pass seperately? If it's true, that is wicked. - You got season pass?
    - Yes.
    - Now get the battle pass so you can play rest of the upcoming content untill new expansion.
What's the point? Just raise the price and get on with it. We are humans, not loot boxes....

In a way they have "fixed" the bullet sponge enemies. It just might take you some time to get to the point where they're less spongy. Now they have an infinite progression system where you'll be able to marginally increase your weapons as you go. It also puts weapons in a place where you can upgrade the weapons you like.. making it so more than 1 can be a valid option.

Luckily the gear  overhaul doesn't require the xpac to try.

Seasons are now inherent after you get the xpac. So every season, with new manhunts and all that in both washington and NY are given free forever. The Battle Pass gives extra rewards and seems to be more like a sub option for those that want to get additional things. Not sure what they are yet, could be more rewards, could be additional storage space or whatever.

I'm going to guess the reason they go back to New York and not Boston is that they can reuse 3d models. So how much is reused in this $30 Expansion? I'm not a big fan of having to pay for the same stuff over and over.

The have some old enemies that have come back, but with new weapons and stuff.  Hard to get mad at them for using "old assets" since, even with brand new assets you probably couldn't tell the difference aside from starkly different enemy types, of which there are a few.

They def had unused NY map since Div 1 was supposed to launch with a bigger area, even bigger than what they added later on when they gave us the north and that horde mode gametype. I almost considered going back to div 2 so I could kill that bastard Aaron Keener. And yes we are fighting humans don't know how much variety they could add besides skinny, regular, heavy armored, giant walking tank.

Quality in this game is slowly falling, imo. They seem very focused on adding extra difficulties to anything they give players, on top of making it standard to constantly re-do limited content. So I just don't play until new content gets added and will wait on real player reviews before deciding on the expansion.

I played TD2 at release, played for a month and thought it was pretty good.

I liked the combat - I really enjoy 3rd person cover shooters so it suited me. I also don't care about bullet sponges, decades of playing RPGs with high HP bosses has kinda made me immune to that.

I didn't give a shit about the story, but then I never do. It seemed just as generic as everything else.

The world was lovely. I think they've done a great job building Washington DC and I love roaming about. What Wizardy said above about linear design is wrong for the majority of the world, it's an open world with loads of corridors and streets to explore.

Where wizardy was correct is the design of the missions. Those were linear, typically entering a building and following a linear path through it. But, thats to be expected: missions are a themepark feature and players have to be guided through it in order for the "ride" to make sense. I'd have loved it if those missions hadn't been linear, if they had been designed with more of a hitman style so we could have multiple approaches and options. But, the rest of the games mechanics wouldn't support such a design style - when all you can do is shoot people, giving you different places to shoot from doesn't really change all that much.

With this xpac coming out, I have picked up the game again. A year of patches and honestly I can't tell any difference from how it played at launch. Everything seems exactly the same, it's just some stats on gear have changed and my skills seem to be active for longer (my turret never seems to disappear now!).

I am curious to see if the endgame has changed or not. I decided to start a new character this time so it'll take me a while to hit 30 again. Previously, the endgame sucked. I know it's a looter-shooter, but it only took me about 70 hours to hit the level cap and max out my gear score and most stats at launch. After I'd done that, I asked myself "OK, now I've got the gear, where can I use it?" and the answer was nowhere. The PvP sucked and there was literally nothing else to do. So I quit. It seemed a terribly bad design for a live service game! I'm hopign there will be more to do at endgame now that a year has passed.

You've made a lot of good points. The thing is, it doesn't matter how much they change the gear, it always feels the same. They put in new gear sets that make certain specializations better, but you only have like, 1 gear set for each specialization that really changes that specific class, and the rest of the gear sets are weird and gimmicky, nobody runs them.

You also have specializations that nobody runs either, the skills aren't use, nearly at all, and if you aren't a demolitionist with strong skill power, you probably are really slogging through content slower than you have to.

I don't feel like the gear overhaul is going to turn the few that didn't like the loot system or combat before.  I think the game is fun, but there just isn't enough variety in how people play to really change peoples perceptions. In the end, the enemies are still a little too spongey, the gear is a little too lackluster... maybe this will change with the xpac.

I like the game as it is now, but it's not a flavor I want to eat everyday. We'll see how the new content shakes out.
