Thanks for that - definitely a transcription error on my part that got carried through.

// “Planetside, in general, is a trailblazing game and we had a lot of great ideas for Planetside Arena,” Andy says.

Yeah a Battle Royale. First & foremost.

// “Foundationally, we wanted to be able to deliver the most amazing Planetside 2 experiences, which as you know, you encounter them maybe every couple of hours, maybe once every couple of days depending on how often you’re playing. We wanted to be able to do that in a match-based play and guarantee you could get the epic, large-scale battles you would get less frequently in Planetside 2. That was the big plan for the game, right?"

    Corporate hogwash.

It's the other way around. PS2 has the epic scale, endless battle, and plenty of HELLA fast spawns. Not BRs and Arena modes in PS:A.

Loved PS2 and played from launch on Helios, until we were merged with Connery. But when Connery was riddled by blatant hacks, cheats and exploits which were mostly ignored by DBG, things started going downhill. Routers below the map, wall hacks, the list goes on and on. And yes, enemy Max's camping the spawn tube inside the shield and having the campers never being punished/banned (they were on every night for over a year and did it regularly) is kind of a problem.

Sadly what was a fun game turned sour for the most part. Can it be resurrected? We shall see. But please stay away from the BR and Arena crap.

I have played PS2 since before launch since launch I have been on Connery and I have seen what you describe maybe once or twice. There are most certainly hacker/cheaters/exploiters but its definitely nothing near as bad as you are trying to claim @Demuerte .

Most I know are very excited about the upcoming patch, I know I am as well as my entire outfit.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

the arena was dope af. It saddens me that it has to be one of the other. I had heard ps2 was going to have updates, a possible ps3, and the arena. I was stoked for all of it. IMO it might have been bad timing. Release the game the fans want first, and then experiment with other ideas so they don't think you ditched out on the original IP.

It does seem that PS2 is going through something of a second wind right now. Hope it lasts, it is a great game and very much a one-of-a-kind; A true MMOFPS.

For a period if you logged on during Asiatic prime time (the only time I was able to play) it was a common occurrence. It dropped considerably when SolTech opened. Still, seeing a couple players players blatantly cheat as they did on Connery ruins the game.

And if you only saw it once or twice in that +/- two year period you were not paying attention. Or got lucky not to have to deal with it.
