To those saying it's lacking content.

That's pretty much common in PvP centric games.

Until this year game had everyone PvP when outside of the few sanctuaries, but they finally decided to give up on that and allow people to be PvE because even in their testing, the griefers were trashing gameplay for everyone WAY too much.

Yep, they backed off of all PvP because there was too much griefing in alpha/beta, and they designed it as a PvP game.

They've still got plenty of PvP content, according to some people that are in it, which I am not one of. But the ability to kill anyone in any place is gone, people have a flag they can set in certain locations to opt in/out of PvP.

If you don't know about this stuff, google New World Griefing.

Getting into a new MMORPG is a big step, especially when it's not totally free. I'm waiting to see how it is after launch and decide them. Too much hype, misinformation, speculation, and we all know that things can change before launch. Just look at the sudden integration of PvE flags for one obvious example.

I still want to see what the structure of PvE will be? Story driven quests?

Never mind, going to put this in a separate post because I think people here need to know what to expect from this game's PvE.

So glad this game is coming out soon, especially with the opt/in PvP option they've added.
And even more happier that griefers cannot ruin anyone's experience in the game.

The thing that some guys are bashing a AAA Western MMO game soon to be released when we are flooded with asian grindfest/cashgrabbers, leaves me speechless.

How TF do u know that this isn't a good product ??

I hope it takes a year to master a weapon. Don't like the idea of everyone being able to do everything just by switching weapons.

I think that's more old school thinking. Guild Wars 2 allows one to switch weapons and then of course gain skills as you use it. It's more than likely this is what they are doing.

The days of taking a year to do anything are probably gone for games developed by larger studios.

And just enjoying the quoting ...

GW2 has been strugling with meaningfull progression since release. ANet tried to make naw ways to progress/revamping leveling experience since release. And here you are saying that it's fine that another game takes inspiration from it.

I guess I need to play more of this game (just got into the alpha). The starting area didn't grab me, but your article did. I just wish I had more time to play.
  • AvanahAvanah Member RarePosts: 1,627
Played this back in Alpha, before the revamp.
I am so looking forward to seeing this evolve without the PvP Gankfest. :)

It is just a version of the Cry engine (based on an initial release). If they are having issues then others will too.

Hmm, seems very PvP focused. Hopefully there will be things to do for the sheep/non PvP people. Granted there aren't many details in the article. Glad to see something MMO like is being developed, it's been a while.

Problem for me and possibly others. If pvp is forced throughout the game, this is a deal breaker. I don't mind a mission or two, ex. guild wars 1, but if the game is a mostly pvp experience than I will kick my own ass out the door and give myself the wave goodbye; adios muchacho.

Besides, the signs of failure are there, but some choose to willfully ignore, such is the nature of hope.

Yeah, it's a mess and it was singled out by developers from the cancelled Amazon games as to why those games were cancelled.

Lumberyard has major issues with networking which is hilarious because all of the games that use it are internet multiplayer games.

The whole review talks about PvP. There is literally one sentence that mentions PvE quests, and they are the standard simple brain-dead type.

"You may have noticed that this concept of enticing players to join PVP has come up a lot, and that’s because they are really focusing on making this a fun, unique, and long-lasting PVP experience."

It's an open-world PvP game. Not very interesting to me.

I think they are hoping once PVE players get bored enough they'll be willing to give the PVP a try.

Always has worked so well in the past....

    Oh wait, it never has....

Attacking another player with a sword..zzzzzzzzzzz.
You never take a review seriously when invited by the developer to come in their house to check the game out. Then what typically happens is they need to ask permission before posting an article,so the dev can look over the content of the article. No it is not always steadfast especially if the dev knows the website/employees and EXPECTS a positive review anyhow.

So good or bad impression ? Mine was bad since the article hardly mentions any good PvE content. Sounds like it was slapped together in a jiffy.

Maybe it's garbage, maybe it's gold, but if it releases this year as intended, it will be the first real major MMO since ESO. Think about that.

I don't know if convert is the right word but I saw many people try PvP for the first time in DAoC and enjoy it enough to keep doing it.

Even I PvPed in DAoC simply because it is mostly in a separate zone while I can go about 98% of the game doing my PvE quite unmolested. Even though it has some of the most tedious PvE with some mobs just changing their colour and name (crabs anyone) but its saving grace was the cool positioning and animations and I enjoyed killing mobs in the game.
