Pumping out video daily now almost, looks like next to shutdown just like CoE. Def a humble ceo here and a humble studio, shame they have no product.

Yep. Multiple new investors in March, signed another major investment deal in the same month. Cleary, we have no product and are about to shut down :)

Well sounds good Tim, but MOP just announced Robert's Industries got another $17M from the same folks which gave them $45M before.

Better tell your folks they should be doing similar...

If we were a corporation, rather than an LLC, I'm sure we'd be doing something similar :)  But we're not nearly big enough fish to worry about that type of cheddar or paperwork.

Doing great for a small company, but that's a whole 'nother level of game development.

Not really as interested in this game... yet. but confused by the first two comments as this has shown way more than CoE or any other game for that matter of recent besides Ashes of Creation or Ship of Heroes.

Question for Renfail, will the goal to be update the game's bestiary much more later on and will it look raids and other creatures of higher fantasy not just deer/bear? Or is this looking to be more realistic and medieval style? Thank you.

We've had a playable product since 2015, so yeah, way ahead of CoE or many other indie titles in that we have been letting our pre-alpha testers in since September 2015, and our alpha testers since April of 2019; now, with Stage Three launching in a few more days (this Friday), we're moving into the latest stage of alpha.

Fully playable, albeit still unpolished. Our code is pretty damn optimized, but we've got a lot of work on the graphical side still yet to complete.

The bestiary is already quite robust, we're just not showing any of it in the preview streams so we don't ruin it for the folks who are joining us for the first time and want to feel that excitement on their own. But yes, we'll *also* have plenty of high fantasy creatures.

This was asked recently, I think in this very stream; we already have minotaurs, hill giants, lizardmen, hobgoblins, goblins, rock golems, and much more :)

But like everything else in our game, we're adding to it slowly over time.

Looks good but I'm a bit concerned on the combat it so slow it almost looks like turn based combat. I hope this can be improved soon and the pace of combat increased vastly .

There is a lot of actual progress, but maybe do some more work getting to the next alpha phase and do video. I feel no one thinks this like a CoE scam so it is ok, to takes some time and continuing on the project.

    Look great !

We don't share videos to showcase streamlined, polished gameplay, but rather our progress over the years. So yeah, we won't be stopping anytime soon :)

Nope. While the animations will get better over time, and combat will be balanced throughout alpha and beta, it's not meant to be action-based.

It's slower, EverQuest-1 style combat. Which, to some, may seem like turn-based. That won't change.

From the video I get a this turn based vibe because of the big delay between when the player attacks and when the mobs attack. I was hoping this would improve to be more like every other MMORPG ever like wow and vanguard saga of heros and so many others. I was watching the video on my tiny phone screen but that's what out looked like because it was so incredibly slow. So maybe this isn't the game for me I'll have to watch the combat on my big screen so I can see it better. I could care less if it's action combat I prefer tab target anyway over BDO or Skyrim stlye. But one thing I absolutely can not stand is turned based because it too scripted for me .

Hard to know when we're still in alpha and we haven't finished balance passes, VFX passes, animation passes, ability passes, and beyond.

I really like a lot of the concepts like no mini map, learning skills from trainers in the wild or in hidden places, the group mechanics, the death system and story behind it with your loot bag not getting dragged to town. (I wouldnt even mind if others could loot this bag as it is PvE only if im right and so maybe strangers can recover your stuff and bring it to you)

But sadly the combat turns me of. I hope it will be polished a bit. Just like some people above me, I dont need BDO action combat, but if its tab target it could get some fluff like vanguards cast while moving or GW1s interrupt and reaction mechanics.

You can already cast while moving, shoot while moving, drink potions while moving, etc.

We're actually looking at Vanguard's sympathetics system as a source of inspiration, along with their spellcasting interrupt system.

Remember, this is an alpha showcase and we don't have an animator OR graphics programmer. Asking for launch-type polish is a bit much given where we are in our current stage.

I find it odd that these live streams are all basically the same small area on repeat. Why not show off some other parts of the game?

Because we aren't showcasing the entirety of the vertical slice. That's on-reserve for pre-order folks. No way we want to spoil things for folks who want to explore on their own :)

The Q&A streams are just that: Q&A streams to answer questions about mechanics/features/lore, not "show you the whole game" streams.

Want to see the rest of the world, explore things, delve into the lore, and have an actual play-test experience?

How would I know that there is other parts of the game as a potential customer? You don't have any screenshots, videos or any further proof that this isn't a glorified tech demo at this point. You guys don't even have a proper trailer at this point.

I think this is a fair question too. Most game studios that are selling pre-orders for a game or early access to an unfinished game at least have some media available showing off various parts of their game.

You basically want potential customers to just take you for your word that there is some type of playable product here beyond the very small amount of footage you have already shown.

I wonder too, how this isn't a crowdfunded project either when that is exactly what your are trying to accomplish by selling pre-orders for early access?

If you have investors and enough money to finish the project. I don't understand the point for a paid early access that is locked behind a NDA either?

I have some interest in the game because of the strongly encouraged grouping.  I'm concerned, though, about the lack of a map or even a compass.  I'm also concerned about the partial corpse retrievals needed to get items that have been acquired when adventuring.  Aren't these more of a nuisance than desirable game mechanics?  I still play EQ now on the TLP servers, but there's no way I would with these features in place.  My guess is that a lot of people feel the same way.  People put up with these things in the original EQ because there wasn't an alternative at the time.  Why would they now, though?

There are over 500 newsletters, over 500 videos and podcasts and vodasts we have completed over the years, as well as thousands of screenshots showing the game evolving over time, as far back as late 2014. (our Twitter account alone has over 1000 photos/videos, as an example).

There were zero NDAs in place until April of 2019.  There are even more vodcast and podcasts and screenshots and beyond from community members that have been shared between 2105 and 2019.

Do some due diligence. The game will be waiting there for you once you finish.

These types of mechanics are what I miss in games today. This is why indie devs making niche games is best. If they can survive with the number of players they get them both the players and the devs are happy.

Need more indies makes niche games.

The numbers are quite strong, and I don't think niche has quite the negative connotation that most people seem to associate with it.  In a market where there are hundreds of millions of players, there's nothing small or wrong with niche.

Welp, after everything, at least this game is showing signs that it will probably release.  I said I'd never do it again, but:  Is there an early access version that's open to play now?  If so, what's the minimum you have to pay for access?

    I wouldn't spend a dime, if I were you.

Wait until launch. That's the only way to be sure.

Yeah, you raise a good point.

With a small test player base, it might be hard to find a group at this point anyway.
