- an empty shell of Fallout 4 and still as bugged.
- specifically designed to make as much money as possible through the subscription (why is this even a thing ? ), ingame shop and merchandise.

But it is nice that they managed to get the game improved from horrible to mediocre.
This game is riding on the current rage of mediocre multiplayer survival games. Where somehow some people get easily fooled by thinking it is a great game because they have fun with friends. The moment you take away multiplayer, they would see how shallow those games are. I mean, you could call Discord a fun game with friends.
Conan Exiles, Ark, Fallout 76 are all bad unoptimised games with low amount of content.
They are not more impressive in features then vanilla Minecraft, just way buggier with more expensive assets. And because of that are overpriced for what they are.
And Fallout 76 is the worst of those 3 when it comes to quality.

Can I be a Ninja Pirate Deathgod? Or a Used Nuke Dealer?
No, but you open your own "Nuke for Hire" service and offer to drop nukes on the camps of others for a fee.
Sounds interesting. But I'm not gonna spend $40 to find out if you're telling me the truth or not.

Yes ofc it is. If you didnt like it before Wastelanders wont do it I'm sure. Either you like the game or you dont. That much havent changed... sure for me who still loved it before love this changes with NPCs. But if you hated it before you wont like it more now, that big of change hasnt occured!
By condoning any game that launches so badly we are telling gaming studios it is Ok to do that again. Since launch the game has shown it is built on an unstable foundation which continues to the present day. If we are saying you can have fun in a buggy mess we will get more buggy messes released. So I am saying don't go anywhere near it, spend your money on finished, polished games.
Not sure what everyone is bitching about money making leeching.
1. You do not have to pay a subscription, its an optional service...
2. You do not have to buy stuff from the cash shop, it is an optional thing..
I have never spend real money on any MMORPG cash shop ever, and never will do. Subscription, I sometimes do subscribe to IF I think the game is worth it. And this I do to support the actual developers that made the game.
Buy to play is a total normal phenomenon.
Just play the game and enjoy it till there is another game that your interested in.
I don't know if that was aimed at me but I'll reply anyway.
I wasn't bitching about money.
I don't have problems paying for the game and a subscription, if the game is good.
But 76 at best is average, Fallout 4 is better and has no subscripion and no cash shop.
Paying a monthly fee for a multiplayer game (not a MMORPG) it's a bit of a stretch.
Bethesda is applying to a simple Multiplayer, the same monetization the industry uses for MMORPG, and that's sets a bad precedent.
There is no other Multiplayer game that ask for box+subscription+Shop.
Fortnite uses only the Cash Shop and is making billions.
So why Bethesda want to charge 3 different types of monetization for a glorified Fallout 4 Mod?
Bethesda needs to learn to threat their customers with more respect like they used to do in the old days.
Put more effort in game making and ask for the right amount of money.
Bethesda is definetly the new EA, they are blatantly after money.
At least other publishers try to hide it, Bethesda don't even bother.
Releaseing a game in Alpha state and working on it as you go, it' s fine for games like ARK or NO MAN'S SKY, but not for AAA publishers like Bethesda.
What's next, they will make a Kickstarter campaign for TES 6?
Because that's where Bethesda is heading if you keep throwing money at them without helding them accountable for their dubious behaviour.
I enjoyed the game at launch, it was like Fallout 4/lite/mmo. But hearing about fallout 1st makes me wanna try it again, especially hearing the comparisons to ESO's crafting bag. Once I subscribed there, I never went back. Any time I go back to ESO (which is still far and between, because of the combat/classes), I have to subscribe for the bag alone.
This is a problem with many games coming out to me though, to get the most out of them, I'm almost forced to buy a subscription just to manage my inventory, or have just deal with the headache the entire time I play. It sure isn't the route I like current games taking, for sure.
Easily the best fallout game. In contrast to the people who hated on this game I felt like this world was more alive with the original story intact. No other fallout world has had this world detail. Who was supposed to have lived through a nuclear death wasteland? Now it's a bit more hokey and unrealistic but they did a decent job with the expansion overall. I'm not sure who had other expectations of this. This company has always put out this product on this engine with these bugs. It's funny to me that its a problem now all of a sudden as opposed to the first couple Fallout games with the SAME issues.

That should be obvious. If there is one game that you don't have to play to realise how bad it is, it is this game. There are so many showcases of the hilariously numerous bugs and lack of content, and lies during the prerelease marketing.
I don't believe that people let Bethesda get away with this clearly broken product at launch, with a snake oil salesman Tod Howard blatantly lying about this. Using NDA's to prevent the public getting to learn this before launch, that so they can sell preorders.
Then there is a sub! A sub so you can have your private server? WTF. This is not something you should have to pay for, this is clearly again something they let you pay for because apparently there are enough ppl who don't give a shit and just pay whatever.
You do realise they keep trying to move this line , to make you pay extra for features that always used to be part of the base package?
Again this is a case of part of the playerbase either not caring enough or conveniently forgetting that this company is trying to sell you less for more. Fallout 4 was already a shallow version of Fallout3/NV when compared as RPG. Fallout 76 is Fallout 4 with simply less features, but sold for full price and on top of that a sub.
All the people buying into is, let AAA companies like Bethesda get away with releasing crappy products that are mainly sold on prerelease hype. You are part of this problem. You and the others who keep defending this, make this practice financially viable.
Oh and the worst part. Marketing ppl from Bethesda are laughing their asses off, because unpaid 'fans' are doing the marketing for their shitty products for them. For free!
If you like dumpster fires then this is the game for you!
Personally after seeing the lies and horrible state of the game and all the stuff that has happened from the canvas bag to bugs, to no refunds if you download the game, to my god the pure cash grabbing ineptitude and utter disregard for any QA...
Hell at this point the Internet Historian Video Fall of 76 is only the first part of the story behind this dumpster fire. He could probably make 2-3 more videos chronicling the saga of how hot and fast this dumpster fire burns... and it's STILL going. They just can't stop ducking up.
I'll never buy anything from Bethesda again after the pure and utter garbage that was put forth with Fallout 76.

Fair, enough, which MMO or multiplayer online games recently launched do you consider to be finished and polished? Curious to know what bar we’re comparing FO76 to.

Bugs there are, they do not prohibit me and many others from enjoying the game, but YMMV I realize.
Using an NDA to hide what was there before launch? They literally had a totally free open beta the month before launched, and openly told people things were going to rough at the start. I actually considered refunding the game during this time, but decided to stay the course, but I could have backed out had I wished to.
So, there is a sub....in an online game.....err, yes, so what, people say they want to pay subs rather than be nicked in the cash shop, what’s the issue, it’s NOT A SINGLE PLAYER game. BTW, I need to note, Wasterlanders is a “free” expansion, can’t really hate much on that can I?
So, I shouldn’t have to pay for a private server which Bethesda hosts on their hardware? In what world does this make any sense? Besides, while private server is a nice feature, it’s the unlimited scrap box and tent which are the real traps, which...follows the ESO model ..... another longline game by the same organization (Zenimax rules over all)
Slag on FO4 all you wish, I loved the game, played over 1400 hours on it, vs like 178 hr on FONV which was a pretty good game though.. FO3 sucked IMO, I stayed away from FO games for about 10 years after playing it..... not my cup of tea.
Yeah, I’m part of the problem, I believe companies can make amends, games can get better, at the end of the day hating on Bethesda for making a “bad” game is mostly a first world concern.
You feel the product is sub-par (aka shitty), yet have never played it. I find the game actually quite brilliant in a number of areas and don’t care if they didn’t ship the right canvas bags or whatever.
But by all means, keep on hating, I suspect you never were the target market as it is the game Bethesda chose to build, and not the game you wanted them to make.

Personally for me it has been worth playing since launch day. The ridiculous bashing of how bad it is, was unfortunately over blown. What bugs me is people at work and even my own teenage boys refuse to play it based purely on internet feedback. They go on about how horrible the game is and when i ask did you play it it's been 100% no, then how do you know it's that bad?
How is it overblown?.
Not trying to sugarcoat it, the game had many problems, large and small, similar to the majority of any newly launched mmorpg's would have, nothing new there and internally people made some very bad decisions with regards to things such as the collector edition.
No, not similar to the majority of any new MMORPG. F76 was worse by any measure. What other newly launched MMO brought back bugs after they've been patched for example? How many others couldn't even do something as simple as resetting "private" servers that people paid for? How many others made loot vanish instead of storing it? You have to be a huge fanboy to overlook the game's flaws.

ArchAge, Bless, couple of other Asian MMO’s released in the past 5 years come to mind, regularly experience issues in the US versions which were first identified and fixed in their local versions.
Point of order, no other MMO has private servers quite like FO 76 so I can’t provide a valid comparision...but then neither can you so we’re even.
I’ve played MMO’s which made peoples entire operating system vanish (EVE) so making some loot temporarily vanish (usually some hacker involved) isn’t such a big deal, especially since as far as I know, they restore people’s stuff when incidents occur.
I personally have never experienced most of the issues people slag on FO76 for...but then again, we “huge” fanboi’s get to play the secret, better version of the game, unlike the unwashed masses.
I’ll take a wild guess, you haven’t been affected by any of the issues you’ve mentioned or read about either, amirite?
