World of Warcraft's legacy is far reaching, but so are its memes. Leeroy Jenkins has gone down in WoW lore and celebrates its 15th birthday today. Have you ever experienced a similar event during a raid of your own?

Once, in Lineage 2, we were all standing by, ready to start a raid when someone inadvertently fired an arrow at the raid boss.

I guess they had targeted the boss, ready to fire once we started and then hit some sort of attack by accident.

And then hilarity ensued. I think we got it together and were able to prevail.

"Have You Ever Experienced A Similar Situation In A Raid?"

I've done it, by accident of course. Really it was me accidentally starting a boss fight before everyone was ready by hitting an attack hotkey and almost wiping the group.

This was me in literally every single group encounter during the early months of LotRO: Shadows of Angmar. I was the Hunter no one wanted to group with.

    I got better, though.

This article is a hit piece against Shank. I blindly follow him because I know he'll always have my back. I never question his decisions because doing so would be fatal. Our history together would indicate that he is the most reliable, calm, and sensible member of the crew.

Why do Raid Bosses always wait for you to come for them?  Why aren't they ever a bit more proactive in defense of their lairs?

Yes. Oh yes. Plane of Sky in EQ. Raid leader said 1,000 times, don't talk out loud. Don't speak in /say or /shout. So of course someone did. Turns out if you do, some small but absurdly powerful NPC then kicks the everloving shit out of the entire raid group. If you try to run and hide he comes and finds you.

Yes, we were prepping for a PuG world boss raid in WoW (can't remember his name, was in the Plaguelands maybe). Everyone was sounding off for go and I went to refresh my Hunter's mark. Accidentally sent in my bear. We prevailed, but lots of pissed off people.
    I was highly embarrased.

What?  You'll explain that one a little further.  If you're so inclined.

Yes in EQ long before WoW was even made.....We had a bard on a raid that just took off running as fast as he can and came back with about half the zone and wiped the entire raid.

Plane of Fear break-in was far worse, IMO. Both could become a cluster fuck depending on circumstances and how bad the lag was that night ;)

Fear can be very bad but the guild I was in had a good break in strat that made it work well and you can walk into Fear as long as your level was 46 I think . Hate required a wizard to port you and the entrance was pretty nasty. Fear at least allowed you to set up just inside.

I think they changed Hate because initially it was worse. I used to log in and almost immediately get tells asking for ports to Hate. So I always got the impression that we were not the only ones having problems with Hate.

Sky was the other one and @Amathe was right about the noise level there. It was hilarious.

    "Don't touch the walls!!"

Hate was such a cluster. Port in, stand still, wait for everyone to get here then start pulling.

Fear was sending in the sacrificial druid/monk/necro to see if the mobs were where they were supposed to be before giving the ok for the raid to port in. Then run down the hill, take a left and hide (if I remember right).

I remember being a scout in there the first time. It's genuinely scary being the only person in a raid zone for the first time, knowing if you die someone will have to recover your corpse/possessions.

Before the days of WoW I played a game called Horizons. In that I was known as the suicidal Paladin. Within 2 weeks of joining a guild I was promoted to officer as all the lower levels liked going into battle with me as they used to gain lots of XP as long as I didnt die. There was this healer that used to partner me on all adventures. I always picked mobs higher than me and relied on healing to keep me alive. I would be in a town at the bank and randoms used to say to me your Morbeous i've heard of you, you are known as the suicidal paladin and then they would ask to join the guild!! Used to be fun but I ended up quitting for Everquest 2

We used to do this almost deliberately during my raiding years.

When we were facing a boss we knew nothing about, the only thing to do is dive in headfirst and see what happens. By keeping things light and breezy, it makes those first few wipes easier to deal with.

In PvP, I'd do this all the time. Most people are sheep and, as a melee player, I used to hate all the standing back, ranged pvp with everyone too scared to lead the charge. So, sometimes u just gotta do it yourself. Run like a madman and hope others follow you.

Sometimes worked, sometimes didn't, but it was always more fun than ranged pewpew!

    Playing City of Heroes, we were doing the Statesman task force (back when it was called that - its the Miss Liberty task force now) and rolling through everything like a hot knife through butter.  It was my first time running it.  I'm on the 2nd toughest tank in the SG, a well kitted out and incarnated Invulnerability/ Super Strength tanker.  I was the only newb in the team.  So we get to the last mission and we fight our way to Lord Recluse, the big bad.  The leader says, "OK, lets get this going."  She meant lets plan this, but with red in my eyes and saliva running out of the corner of my mouth I charge in!  I even used my favorite macro;

    "LEROOOOOOOOOOY JENKIIIIIIIIIINS!"

I lasted about 5 seconds while the rest of the team was watching me.  After teleporting me back to the group and rezzing me, the leader says, "OK, are you ready to listen to the PLAN now?"

That is the great thing about City of Villains and Heroes. I feel that because of the combinations of power pools and the choices people make on the powers they take you can have a multitude of skills that each player brings and often in a Task Force people leave and you're left having to work with what you have and the best memories of City has been how we got together and discussed how we were going to handle the missions and finish the Task Force. Such a great game.

Can we not compare actual stuff that has happened to people and not this staged crap this is Leeroooy.... I can't believe people still use that even though it's fake as hell.
Having played Everquest since I was 11 I have seen many real moments of people doing stupid stuff. One thing I remember the most from Everquest was during a raid we had to keep invis up so that we could move around without getting aggro from everything. Someone was not paying attention and had Spirit of Wolf on which makes you run faster. He didn't notice he was not invis any more and actually pulled nearly half the area. No one really noticed this either and when we stopped in what we thought was a safe area to refresh the invis we all turned around. What we saw was something like 30 mobs chasing 1 guy and we just laughed and was like well that was fun. Yeah, we all died laughing because it was actually pretty funny.
I have never been rude enough to try and kill my whole group for the lawls.
