Thinking of Giving EQII Another Try...

TshoberTshober Member Posts: 24

I have read on this site, and on some others, that SOE has put out alot of changes to EQ2 that their customers wanted and some people say it is a much better game than it was at launch. I quit EQ2 primarily because I wanted to try out most of the character classes without having to open up multiple accounts, but their limit of 4 characters per account prevented this. Almost every other MMO (including EQ1) has a reasonable limit of 8-10 characters per server and practically no limit per account. I was very annoyed at SOE for not following the standard they set with EQ1.

So has SOE seen the light and and relaxed the limit on the number of characters per account? If they have made it so I can try out most of the classes w/o the need to open multiple accounts, I would be willing to give EQ2 another look. But I am not going to open 3 or 4 accounts, so I can try out the classes to see which one(s) I like to play. Can someone who currently subscribes to EQ2 tell me what the character limit per account is now?

Thanks,

6 characters per regular account, 10 characters per Station account.

I'm 95% sure this is what it is since I just registered EQ II and it told me if I upgraded to a Station account they would give me 4 extra character slots, for a total of 10.

If that is the only reason for not playing... I really think you should try this game out. There are a lot of classes and there is a good chance you wont like half of them. Plus, you wont want to level all those to the cap anyways because that could get overwhelming. My advice is just pick your favorite one (you can practice all of them in the trial fairly easily) and use your other 4 or 5 slots for random characters. There's no reason why you should have to open up another account just to try other classes - you can delete as many characters as you want!

i think you shoul dwait for the 3rd exp, maybe that will bring some fresh air into the game. Right now with all the changes the game still plays and feels a lot like what it was at release. While it is not bad, it is very limited to zones.

Depending on how long ago you quit, you should continue playing, as all zones will be new to you.  For the beginning player, it is a huge world.

I agree that I would not want to play all classes to the max level, though I did play all classes at least to the 30's in EQ1 and I currently have 7 characters at the max level in WoW (12 characters total).  But I would like to play most of the classes to at least a level where I am able to get a really good feel for what the class is like to play long term.  And that means quite a few hours of play for each class.  I hate to have to delete them afterwards, so I can try another class that I might not even like as well as the one I just deleted. <sigh>

Anyway, thanks for answering my question.
