Always interested and even bought it way back on super sale but it failed to capture me, maybe this is what it needs for better immersion. Then again i have real hard time devoting any game time to single player games. Make it a mmorpg!

The original goal was to make an MMORPG, which was ultimately a huge waste of money that failed to coalesce into a playable game and ultimately contributed to the death of 38 Studios.

Actually I think it was the mistake that 38 Studios made by borrowing money from Rhode Island when they couldn't keep up the payments.
They should never have gone to Rhode Island and they should have been smarter about managing the money they had. I remember reading something where they bought these huge screens for conference calls that were thousands upon thousands of dollars.

It wasn't a total waste, they hit the pre-alpha state. Mismanagement at the top of 38 Studios/Big Huge Games combined with and including a change of the Governmental Officials as incoming Gov. Chafee of Rhode Island felt differently about the investment than former Gov. Carcieri who had brokered then deal. link to one version of the story - https://techraptor.net/gaming/guides/project-copernicus-and-rise-and-fall-of-38-studios

Oh, I didn't say it was the cause. I said it contributed. The company was a comedy of errors. Kurt Schilling should have just taken his money into retirement.

Maybe. But he wanted to do something he cared about. I can't blame him for that. I just wish he had let someone else hold the reins.
I doubt this will see a Switch port but think at least the original version, graphically, would be a great fit for Switch. I know I'd buy it again for that system, but see no reason to buy it again for PC, as I believe I can reshade it and improve the looks to what I want for the original version.
The only thing I didn't like was the scaling. Just scale the game to the player's level with minimums... I remember a quest asking me to go to talk to a guy 2 zones over. I go there, do the thing, and it doesn't follow up, so I go back to "where I was", finish up, now the "next zone" (previously entered), only has grey enemies and I couldn't be more bored. Felt like cheating.
Hopefully they make their "intelligent scaling" a bit more "intelligent". If they don't want you to explore, then block them off. It's better than having an entire zone on Extremely Easy Mode with useless rewards.

I admire him for what he did, I just think he should have hired a business manager who not only had run a startup video game company but also who could say "no" to some of the things I read that they had purchased (such as two very large screens for video conferencing, thousands of dollars.)

I didn't say that out of contempt but rather pity.
I admire the ambition of the game. It's a very flawed game, and far too easy even on its hardest setting (and I say this as someone who LIKES easy games) to take advantage of its impressive combat and skill tree. But what it does right is downright amazing, and I wish the game and its developers had met with more success.
I was super interested in the mmo Project Copernicus at the time and gutted the way it never made it to the light of day. Tried to get into the rpg years ago and it just felt too dated and clunky, I'll definitely give a remastered version another shot.

I remember following this closely way back but the people handling the game design were not so good.
I felt real bad for Curt Schilling,he really wanted a great game.I do not feel like a remaster is going to be any good.Simple reason is they are not telling us anything, they are going to quickly market it,get it some hype and hope people buy it on a whim.
It needed a LOT of work to be where i would buy it.

This is absolutely awesome! Recently tried to play through it again but couldn't get past the graphics. Added bonus would be MS Play Anywhere, for couch or desktop playing.

He made a great game. He just overreached and tried to make 2 games at once, ran out of money and couldn't work out a deal with unreasonable creditors to keep operations going. If he had gotten a loan from anyone besides the government, they would have had the sense to extend the loan and make accommodations so they could get a return on their investment. Instead the brain dead governor was like "nah, I'ma eat this huge loss for no reason even though they were highly successful up to this point."
I can't imagine I'll buy it again, as I have the original, and all DLC. I have been wanting to play it agian, though. Great game... much too easy, but still great.
Dude i bought this game and got to like outside of the corpse heap and was like oh look a shitty wow clone with no network play and a typical THOU ART REVIVED AND ARE NOW A HERO. I liked it better when dark souls did it.
Like Runes of fucking magic has more depth of play.
It's like hey you know that steaming pile of shit> Let's make it 4k. Still a piece of shit.
$99 pc collectors edition...nice statue. Guess they are going all out for the money grab on this one. I hope it is done right. Hope to see some gameplay first to see how it looks and if there is anything added.
