Resident Evil 8 (RE: Village) is the only game that grabbed my attention, and it's coming to PC, so i just could not care any less about playstation 5, to me it just seems like Sony is milking it at this point.
How many games is it gonna take to make the gaming community realize we have reached a stagnant leap in next generation graphics? I’ve been gaming since Atari...trying to explain the generation leaps from Atari to current gen was mind blowing throughout the decades but now it’s reached a peak and the spinner kids generation refuse to believe this...we want better graphics!
I completely agree with this, we are, and have been at a point for a couples years now; where graphical innovation has pretty much hit a ceiling in what it can really do on console hardware- and what studios should really be focusing on, is how to be more creative with the tools they already have. -- You don't have to look far to find Studios who know exactly how to really push their tools beyond hardware and tech standards- CDPR is a prime example of this.

I've always like the PS exclusives, especially now that most Xbox games just come to PC. I still have my gen 1 PS3, which was awesome for it's blu-ray and PS1/PS2 backwards compatible features.

It looks like I'll have to keep it around still. I'll prbly wait to buy the PS5 when it releases it's Gen 2 or 3 versions maybe, which should be what in just a few months from release with how they do things now?

I have a ton of PS4 games still to play.

Nintendo gameplay is tough to beat. Their hardware and some functionality choices confuse the shit out of me sometimes though.

    Gut Out!

    What, me worry?

What am I missing here, Resident Evil Village is a PS 5, Xbox, and Pc game as listed on Capcom site. Multiple articles i read list it a as PS 5 exclusive?

I'm not really sure of your point?

Maybe the gaming community already knows that there will be incremental steps in graphics. And if not then what does it matter?

Should they not buy the games? For what reason?

And let's say they do want better graphics. Well, there is still room to grow as far as "better graphics." people think these games are photo realistic but they really aren't.

The day comes that you show me a game where I absolutely can't tell if it's a real actor or not I'll say "yup, we've arrived." But we are certainly nowhere near there. Not really.

Every gen I am waiting for shorter loading times, less loading screens, shorter install times, just instant playing. And every gen its taking longer and longer, its ridiculous. The only thing evolving is graphics it seems, everything else is stagnant, I wouldn’t call that next gen gaming.

??? Not sure if you are being sarcastic. There should at the least be shorter loading times on the PS5 since it has an SSD. installs are already really quick- downloading the games takes the most time. I would hope the loading screens are less prevalent on ps5 games as well since it is considerably more powerful than a ps4.
I wasn’t being sarcastic. Every gen presents better hardware which is cancelled out by more advanced looking games. Loading times haven’t improved the last 3 generations and I really hope they will this time, I sincerely doubt it. I won’t even start in mandatory full installs etc. That is why I love Switch so much. Loading is instant in many cases or very, very short.

'the only way he could nail it any better is if he used a cross.'

    Kyleran on yours sincerely

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

There are of course exceptions. Witcher 3 has long load times on Switch, but as a tradeoff, it has no download thanks to the entire game being on the cartridge.

Mostly, Switch games do load very quickly because they're loading off a cartridge instead of a less efficient disc.

Demon's Souls is so far the only game that looks fun or good to me. I wouldn't spend 700$ CAD for it though. So I'll wait for price to drop or hope my family pools money to get me the console (I can get the game myself afterwards if needed lol).

Also, because i have disks for the games on PS4, I wouldn't just get digital since I need the disks for the backwards compatibility (or so I assume)

I read one of the posts and they are on the right track but what they want is what i also want but it is not working out that way.

Example said poster talks about games already sort of "arriving"they are here we already have very good graphics,we need the rest of the game to step up in design.

So said poster mentions AI as just one example. What is happening in the Ai field is they are dumbing it down even more using code that 1-2 people created a few years back that basically automates AI in way they do not get stuck and react to walls, pathing etc etc.

The depth part of the Ai comes in way of scripts, those Ai need to be TOLD what to do when they react to something. However and also mentioned by said poster was a term used "power"meaning cpu/gpu resources/bandwidth/overhead.

Ai is one area i am sure we all want to see improve and by a lot, problem is it takes a LOT of resources the more npc's and the more scripts you add.

Ai can add a lot more to a game than just combat Ai or movement,it can also be used to design way better aggro systems instead o the very boring, verry old proximity aggro.

Where does this all go?Well as many have been saying for years, they can add million dollar PC's it won't matter if the developer makes a low budget crappy game. What SONY and of course Microsoft are TRYING to do is market their consoles as if THEY alone are going to bring us better games which is very untrue.

Right now the gaming industry is stuck in a place that sees no way to get out.It is the RISK factor, developers are afraid to tell their investors we need 5-7 years and even then it is a crapshoot if the game does well.

So unless consoles can solve the problem facing devs which is mostly $$$$,new consoles will not help the industry. What these consoles are actually going to do is kickstart a huge wave of new game sales,it doesn't even matter if all the games are really bad or rehashed games, they WILL sell.

So a new console is a great cash grab for the console makers, lots of money incoming including royalties.
