I really enjoyed the read it makes me want to go home and play right now.
Besides, failure is more entertaining than success anyway and making fun of my own failures doesn't violate my personal prohibition against negativity.
I stopped playing in 1.3 since it has a serious memory leak and my input device drivers were somehow affected. Will probably jump back in with patch 1.5.
I was in on the original Mount & Blade early and then picked up M&B: Warband when it came out and enjoyed both.
I've found those really were all about what you put into them and pretty much had to make your own fun as the games were all about what you wanted to do.
SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
What do you not find "fun?"

Did you by chance play Mount and Blade, or any of the subsequent expansions? Warband, With Fire and Sword, Viking Conquest? If you did, and you enjoyed them, then I suggest waiting for the game to be feature complete to give it another go. Plus, there's always the modders that will be putting forth effort to create a world for just about everyone. Hell, even Viking Conquest was originally a mod that TaleWorlds liked so much they created an official expansion based off it.
However, if you did not like those games, or never played Mount and Blade before, I could see where you would be let down as the game doesn't really hold your hand or give you much in the sense of direction. It's an ideal sandbox where you are free to do whatever you want. And I mean sandbox in the sense that, content exists, but you're free to discover and enjoy it any way you like . I think the game will be more fun with all of the other planned features implemented. Like being able to start your own street gang/criminal empire, and being able to be succeeded by your heir(s) and so one and so forth.
The game has a lot of potential and I wasn't disappointed with the amount of time I've invested in it so far, but, I'm taking a break from it myself as I've gotten to the point where I've conquered half the map and am tired of having to run from one side to the other to defend castle X, or city Y. I only wonder what happens when I conquer the whole map what will happen since even if you "kill" a lord, they respawn some time later in their original city/castle.
Nobungas Ambition, Liberty or Death, The Three Kingdom games were all one I really enjoyed.
back on topic I am having a lot of fun the main quest is a little frustrating as everyone i need to talk to is currently in a dungeon some where.

And I will have even more fun playing after it launches.
Glad I found this article and see I am not the only one who got this impression of the game's economy.
