There's an enormous difference between goals and means. Pretty much everyone agrees that the police wrongly killing people is a bad thing and it would be nice to eliminate or at least reduce it.

But as soon as you propose some particular means of working toward that end, you've entered the realm of politics. Any particular proposal will have various drawbacks, and people who share the goal may oppose a particular proposal on the basis that the harm it does will outweigh the benefits.

This is really just a form of advertising on Bungie's part. And like any other form of advertising, it is targeted at people who will buy a company's products because of advertising. So basically, they believe that people who are easily manipulated by advertisements like this are far more likely to support Black Lives Matter than to oppose it. If they're right about that, then it's their duty to shareholders to have promotions like this, because that means more profits for Bungie. And if they're wrong, then they'll thoroughly deserve any loss of sales.

That's all that's going on here. It's not a statement of morality or even of politics. It's an advertising strategy and nothing more.

I find it amazing that in the US so much is spent on police - over 50% of a cities budget in some case. There would be uproar where I live if it came remotely close to that figure. Maybe if taxpayers got involved the cost of policing in the US would come to resemble what it is in other countries. And maybe the death rate would follow.

Trump believes in reciprocity. If someone prominent says something nice about him, he'll say something nice back. And if someone says something mean about him, he'll say something mean back. If someone says something nice and does something mean, he'll respond in kind--on both counts. And if you say something nice one day and then something mean the next, he'll pay you back in kind for both of them.

It's a calculated strategy that he's been doing for years. I suspect that he has some insults to fire at particular people queued up and ready to go, and just sits on them for weeks or months, waiting for the right time to use it as a counterpunch.

You can, if you like, argue that a President of the United States shouldn't do that. But don't pretend that his saying something nice about some dictator means that he loves the dictator.

That's largely an artifact of how various things are funded at different levels of government. The police are mostly funded by the city. Schools are mostly funded by the state. The portion of health care paid for by the government is mostly funded at the national level.

Ultimately, my problem with the Republican party is that they claim to be fiscally responsible but are anything but. They're obsessed with guns and explosions. Their entire platform is a Michael Bay wet dream.

Maybe if half of our local budgets didn't go to the police and half of our federal budget didn't go to the military, we'd actually have proper education, infrastructure, and safety nets. We could cut the budget to improve our domestic quality of life, and STILL have the strongest military on earth. But no. The idiot party wants to blow more people to Hell. If a Democrat trims the military budget by an imperceptible amount, the next Republican will run on rebuilding our military like a jackass.

According to data gathered by the Washington Post 28 people per 10 million are killed in the USA as a whole, when you take into account just black people killed by police it is 57 per 10 million. Black people only make up roughly 15% of the American population, and yet they are killed at double the rate that people in the USA are killed by police overall.

Police have antagonized, harassed, intimidated, beat down, and killed black people for hundreds of years, acting like that doesn't need to change makes you part of the problem.

Police killed 9 unarmed black people and 25 unarmed white people in 2019 despite whites committing fewer violent crimes than blacks. You can't just look at at the total population because police don't have frequent interactions with law abiding citizens. They deal with criminals.
