I don't mind the pace of combat. However, I hate the fact that someone could be shooting off loud fire arms and the guys in the huts 20 ft away are oblivious to it until you attack them directly.
I much prefer the other 50v50 leaked video - as that one showed reality - this video is way more scripted (and still combat looks poor here)
If you look at the end-game 50v50 siege video - you can see how poorly balanced the current state is - everyone had the same setup (heavy armor with all the perks that reduce heavy armor penalties) and a 2H hammer, few running with sword/board, and few staff users.
also "unedited" - the video jumps from dungeon 2 player run to 2H hammer guy outside at 1:54, then arrow shooting guy, than crafting... clearly it's cherry picked and edited.
I wouldn't say it's because of how unbalanced stuff is but more so how little variety there is....
Prior to the Alpha, I was very excited for this game. After being in a couple Alpha phases, my excitement has dropped 10 fold....
Looks pretty good to me, but I do not expect it to be 100% polished by launch. Since I am not an mmo rusher and like to take my time and explore the game properly, I believe that New World will be pretty solid by the end of this year. Just my 2c.
at 0:49 sec the character get hit and move from left to right. It seem that he got stun and also moved from his position like the server did not register the right place?? also at 2:20 the person shoot an arrow at the direction of an NPC (npc)dodge it and still get hit even tough he was at least 2 meter from it... I feel there is something wrong with the running animation and hitbox like the character is not connected to the ground and server not responding fast enough ..
Also saw the big battle video and everyone who were running when there was ton of people. People legs were looking very weird.. the animation was going to fast or something.
~The only opinion that matters is your own.Everything else is just advice,~

Glad to see someone is addressing what he said rather than just put WTF on his post. Having little variety is an issue time and more 'combat content' will solve, but if this is down to unbalancing you might think this could be solved more quickly. However in my experience balance issues can drag on for months if not years.
What I do know is this looks like the only MMO coming out this year and plenty of players are putting all their eggs in one basket and ignoring any signs that the game has issues.
Combat looks Clunky. It also looks like it takes sometime to kill stuff. From everything I am seeing, this game is just not for me. I was really looking forward to this title.
The gun sounds, at the Winter Mountains , is AMAZING!
I'm sold!

Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy? Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
It is typical of what i don't like about videos showcasing a game.
I need to know what is going on behind the simple view. For example i see dude using a Bow,did he craft arrows,is there even an ammo slot, did he make the bow can you craft bows.I saw npc's using guns, can you craft guns, make ammo or is all the ammo just FAKE,no ammo slots?
Then the NODES,ok i saw the stand out blatant to see node but then i couldn't see any other nodes or resemblance of a node.So is the world just nodes and no other other realistic rock so that nodes blend in.
Graphics,i noticed the graphics are actually low end,the characters look ok up close but everything else is not hq graphics.
Ok we saw the duo enter some kind of stone cave ro whatever. Before and after that area,i did not see ANY other life forms.
SO in that entire video i did not see what looks like a professional 2020 effort , i saw what looks like an Indie developer.
Was the combat ok?Yes the pacing seems ok,not quite what i want to see, still sort of mindless spammy, just bash away with hammer or bow and not much thinking beyond that.Back on that stone cave we saw the duo enter, inside it looked pretty cheap, like not a lot of effort put into it,some straight square walls and really nothing else. Also your typical narrow halls,no room to move around and especially if there were like 10-20 people in there.
Drops, idk what i was looking at but seems after the kill there was this wooden box/Urn kind of thing the player looted, wtf is that? There lies another thing i want to know, are the drops related to what the mobs are using, example that mob was using a bow but i did not see any bow or arrows dropped.
To the mere forum user who looks at games with a BLIND eye,i am sure you are impressed but to me this appears to be a lazy tossed together game with no real thought or depth put into it.Maybe there is more to see there than the video reveals, not my fault, quit putting up videos that don't show anything except some dude whacking away with an oversized hammer.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I did some research, apparently you craft A bow and A set of arrows but that is about the extent of it,not very much effort put into it.
Should be wooden arrows, poison tip arrows,Armor piercing arrows,Flame arrows to name but a few, that is of course you wanted to put some EFFORT into your game/crafting...realism.

Looks like ESO's combat which is not my cup of tea.
Hmm - for me ESO combat is much worse.
But ESO is a better game that probably has 100x more content
I don't see the animation cancel/light attack weaving. I don't see any similarities between this and ESO's combat. Maybe the dodge mechanic is similar, but i don't see the 140+ APM required for max dps tomfoolery.

If you, or anybody else, can name just one MMORPG that had a perfect lauch with no issues and filled with polished content/optimization , please do so.

They had removed animation canceling all together until the most recent update. It’s nothing like ESO though. You can cancel your light/heavy attacks but it also cancels the damage. It’s simply so you can react defensively with a block or dodge... or feint in pvp.
Speaking of feints I assume that it doesn't trigger the cool down if you cancel, right?

No cooldowns or stamina cost on light/heavy attacks. Can’t cancel most weapon abilities and the ones you can do go on cooldown.
Well that sucks about the CD lol.

They want money for this....Can't tell us what exactly we'll be doing most of the time outside of running around like headless chickens....but they want money....Can't wait for New World 2.0 because this is gonna have population zero numbers within 6 months of release based on information and video coverage.
Looks like some things have improved since the Alpha I played.
The world looks more interesting. In the alpha I played, the world was extremely dull and lifeless, just a lot of trees with the occasional creature to kill. This looked better. Still dull (to my eyes) but better than it did before.
The combat still looks awful to me, extremely shallow. 3 skills, plus main attack / block, plus dodge? Boring. Mind numbingly boring. I get that action combat is always like this, and that the skill comes from developing nerve (muscle) memory, but what is my brain supposed to be doing whilst I build up that nerve memory?!?! It only takes a couple of hours at most to figure out an action combat system, after which point it just feels like im going through the motions, rather than actually engaging with the combat.
As for the aesthetics, still not on board. Pilgrims hats next to someone in golden plate mail? no thanks. Part of this is simply that im not american, so I have no cultural connection to the lore at all.
I still hope New World succeeds, as the only MMO launch this year and the first mmo from Amazon, I want them to succeed so they continue to make games. Also, I believe this is the first MMO in the survival genre which is exciting just by itself. I've long said that more genres could benefit from being scaled up the massively multiplayer numbers.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman

Unless you preordered it in 2017 for $0 I guess I get a free copy, or so they said.
yup looks much as I'd feared very console-centric, not for me. same reason I could never get at all into ESO. Pity the graphics look pretty decent otherwise but their game design decisions don't work at all for me.

it does remind me of ESO a little bit as well, only slower.

couldn't agree less. Too over-sized looks like crazy-WoW type weapon, totally un-realistic doesn't match the much more realistic style of the rest.
