Its funny and sad at the same time. I can only imagine how they're going to re-do the game again this time. Hell, maybe it'll come out as a looter-shooter next! They can call it Crucible of the New World!

You do know Crucible was originally meant to be a battle royale, right? Like, it was pitched as this exciting Hunger Games type thing that Twitch audiences could actively participate in before PubG and Fortnite came out and made the concept trite.
It actually speaks miles for Amazon Game Studios' incompetence that the battle royale mode of their game that was originally pitched as a battle royale was its worst mode.
The game is functional as is, but it's progression grind is a daunting task just to reach the end-game that is the PvP that is fun but it's like won't really progress from there, guilds take control of areas of map, then loose, then regain, earn money/etc, it's very circular so it wouldn't last long as far MMO is concerned.
The PvE obviously needs more than just to be a grind-bar to the PvP content where the game is at its best.
Initially, with the full loot pvp design it was quite more superficial and the pvp filled gaps of what didn't need any pvp but just gathering/etc for economy sustain, but with the design change it forces quite more depth.
It begs the question - after the multiple delays and now another massive delay - are they really this bad at planning and project management?
Because all the testers I've spoken to have the same feedback - "no way in hell is this ready" , and devs were 100% aware of this as well -
So why are repeatedly setting these completely unrealistic dates?
It became unrealistic once the lead dev got dragged over the coals by the bean counters and his brilliant plan of a "full loot pvp" game was shown to be non viable for a big budget game to not only recoup investment but also to generate profit.
PvE by and large isnt hard to do, but it does take time, more than the 3 months they thought they could use to shoehorn some quests into the game and call it a day.
Maybe there's a new competition between Star Citizen and New World to see who can delay a new game the longest?
Dude, even remotely comparing these two games is absurd. They are delaying it because it isn't ready, they aren't asking you to pay $10000 for a fucking digital horse in the meantime.
Personally I rather have a game like this delayed then go some bullshit early access route where it will never be finished.
They aren't delaying it to work on it they are delaying it to quietly move it out of the public eye and shelve it entirely. The same will happen for Crucible. All while every dev at AGS prolong their paychecks a while longer which is the ultimate goal.
Originally this game was supposed to be released May of this year and now has been delayed ONE year. One year more of salary for a decision that can be changed again closer to release then again and again.
At first I thought it was the AGS devs at the top tier that have manipulated Amazon's good nature but now I'm leaning more towards someone there either employing family or significant other or lover. Think I'm crazy? I worked at a company once where my boss appointed his lover to a top tier position with no experience, gave MORE benefits, higher pay and allowed them to make crucial decisions for the entire company based on nothing more than "what they want to do". Amazon willing to spend hundreds of millions and eventually billions on games that never release is very suspicious to say the least.
Gives me more time to decide whether I want to give it a try or not!
My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

They are delaying it because it's the best for the game and because they can. When your company CEO is the richest man in the world you don't need to worry about how you will pay for another year worth of salaries to your devs.
A Star Citizen game package gives access to all the content so that nonsense that they are asking you to pay any more is dumb. It's like saying you are forced to buy the special edition of every game. Still they have 600 staff making 2 games and workers have to be paid right. Ofc they welcome more money. Every company does.
Delaying the game shows the dev's care. They listened testers feedback and are working on it to make it a better game. They should be praised for it not berated. Also shows that development problems (delays , changes of scope etc) are unavoidable no matter how much money you have.
I am actually suprised by amount good will this decision have gotten on this forum, when its clear that Amazon studios is amazingly unable to produce even one single game.
Breakaway = cancelled The Grand Tour Game = pulled due to horrible reviews Crucible = pulled for complete remake due to horrible reviews New World = Delayed for 1 year for a complete game rework , delayed, delayed, delayed ( second time ) for 1 year ( mere weeks before release )
Anyone else sees a pattern here ? ( not that any leaks for closed beta were positive )
How can anyone still even hope this game will be released ? Or even not coplete mess.
Amazon's delay may actually be a saving grace for this project. It didn't appear that there was going to be nearly enough PvE content for a successful launch, if they were serious about this game appealing to both the PvP and PvE crowds. Right now, I guess that they need not worry about adding new mechanics, only new zones, mobs, lore, quests, animations, etc. to keep the game afloat. How they spend this additional time they've bought with this delay will determine the success of New World.
Assuming that another delay doesn't follow this one, of course.
I can understand your perspective, but why even put out a date? Just say at this time we feel we need more time on the project and don't have a finalized date. YOu see blizzard is not putting up a final date for the WoW expansion shadowlands. That's how you do it, just say you are estimating when it will be out. Now they are saying May of 2021 and we don't even know then if they are going to postpone it again. From a customer perspective it's not ideal to string people along. As far as development goes, you are probably right they needed more time to add PVE content. But why give a release date and beta in the first place?
I would give you a guest pass to SWOTR, but then I wouldn't be able to find a way to live with myself afterwards....
The game clearly was not ready for release, that was being picked up on here months back, hopefully this will give them the time they need to launch a decent MMO.
I see there is a call for BG and so on, to take up from another thread unless the rewards for all types of PvP ("open world", BG, Scenarios, Arena) are sufficiently different players will just pick one type of PvP. They will just pick the one that gives them the most rewards and the other types of PvP will die out.
A key factor here is the time taken to do the activities, if you have to travel to your Arena or instanced zone PvP but can get into a teleport que for a small group Scenario, then guess which from of PvP can die out?
Recently in a discussion about ESO one player at least seemed to think that the Arena was busy at peak playing times regardless of the Scenarios. But having seen what happened to SWTOR's PvP "zone" when the mini battles and Hutt ball were introduced I would be wary of assuming that small scale PvP will not kill of large scale PvP. This also happened in Warhammer online, this is very tricky to get right.
Everyone has their thoughts on new world and i have mine. Do you guys think a 6-9 month delay will actually do anything? As some one who has had alpha access to new world the past year and a half or whatever i am apalled at this dogshit game. The game has no content, terrible combat, questing is rediculous, pvp is a joke and crafting is a joke as well. Shame on AGS for wasting our time and shame on the few hardcore community members pushing this experiment. Eventually when New World does launch, i expect it to flop in about 10-14 days.
I lol@ the claim "some"don't see the obvious or cutting Amazon some slack.
Some of you are actually not seeing the obvious.YES it is true, they have sucked making games,THAT is the reason they have chosen to STOP sucking because in the end it kills your studios reputation forever.
I stated this very fact and that they now realize they had better start getting it right.Even though Amazon is a billion a dollar business they are not in he business of losing money, they are not going to spend millions making games to not turn a profit,a large profit.
Since we all agree Amazon has sucked, what would YOU do that is a better option than delaying by a significant amount of time?I'll tell you right now there is no better solution, this is it, so they are commended for seeing the obvious, for making the right decision.Would you rather they just release this game as is and 2 months from now it is another dead game?
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
You know who else i commend, the players that gave feedback for wanting a better game and telling them so. We have seen in the past all those fanbois of games defend even the biggest pile of crap games and idk why, maybe they like being difficult. If you really like the idea behind a game, you really want that game to succeed, you SHOULD be forefront in letting that developer know if there are things that need improving or added to the game.
So this group of testers stood up to get a better game, good for them, now we just hope that come next year this game satisfies more people in the long run.

This game turned into an absolute trainwreck after the 2020 overhaul. Hate PvP all you guys want, but back in 2019 the game at least had a cohesive vision and an audience waiting for it.
This delay is no doubt, on some level, an acknowledgement that they over-corrected towards PvE in the 2020 iteration.
An optimist would say, the 2021 iteration would actually manage to find either a good balance between the two camps, or fully commit to just one of them (likely PvE at this point since they damaged too much of the game to revert to an open world PvP MMO).

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

Hearing of them throwing them out the door no matter the shape they are in ...ya hear that all the time.
