Most gamers nowadays gravitate to the racing chairs, myself included, for their comfort needs. Whether it's just for their gaming PC, or someone like myself who has a combined work and gaming rig, needing a chair that can maximize comfort is paramount to those long sessions. Autonomous' ErgoChair 2 touts itself as one of the most comfortable and ergonomic chairs on the market, so we put it to the test.

What's your source for that info? I have never heard that... the racing chairs have always looked to me like they were built for shorter gaming sessions.

It is really nice and I think it's better than the "gaming chairs" from an ergonomical point of view but I don't think it's anywhere close to the premium line of products such as herman miller.
It offers a lot of customization and I think that's where the biggest problem is. If you let the gamer decide the flexibility of the chair, it will always opt for comfort over ergonomics... It is like bringing a gambler into a casino and telling him to just have a drink..
Obviously, I started with a fixed position that was good for me, from an ergonomical aspect, but in the end I am still going to adjust it so I can crawl into it like some sort of animal so it kinda defiles the purpose of ergonomics. Better let the user adjust the height and the arm bar and the back support and not give him 7-8 modifications he can do such as flexibility or what not.
Don't get me wrong, I still think it's better than the Secret Lab but it will not come close to any Herman Miller.
Solution - found an online store, echairparts.com and talked to one of their sales persons. Gave them the dimensions I need the chair to go up and then got a 3.5" gas cylinder replacement part and now the chair is perfect. You can get these gas cylinders on Amazon if you don't want to support small business.
Anyways, just saying don't let being tall stop you from getting this chair. It defintely is a 9 like he review. Excellent!
2 Gaming chairs have nothing to do with comfort, the super cheap arm rests on gaming chairs is the dead giveaway.
3 Gaming chairs can of course vary with thickness and construction of seat cushion but that is really the only difference that matters.
4 VERY few sit in gaming chairs properly, most gamer's are leaning forward.
5 With gaming chairs your paying for the design look and nothing more.
6 The arm rests on simple chairs i buy have ALWAYS had better arm rests with actual comfort.
7 NOBODY should buy a chair online, you need to go try the chair out.
I got around 7 years out of my chair that cost around $90 and has never left this 60 year old with a sore back.Your posture is what determines the sore back, not the chair. The true meaningful factor in a chair is the quality and thickness of the seat cushion.Having padded arm rests is a must,my normal chair has very good padded arm rests.
Review giving this a 9/10 is a joke.An honest person would give this chair as a gaming chair a 3/10,VERY few would consider buying these models,i doubt anyone would buy these.$369 for this is like WOW,WAY WAY over priced.Ergonomic=comfort and efficiency, not being able to adjust it to your exact need means it is not always ergonomic, just a fancy term slapped on to hype up the value.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
It..Burns..
That might be.
Here's a youtube review by an actual person using this chair:
I'm debating between this chair and 2 others right now.
Duramont Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair
Nouhaus Ergo3D:
Having a LOT of trouble finding good reviews. That Duramont video is just a guy putting it together and then trying to adjust it...
Most of the youtube "reviews" are random product or picture and Siri reading back amazon reviews... /fail...
For me, my chair is fixed with a slight recline as suggested under ideal ergonomics. It's height adjustable and allows for rocking. The height adjustment is worthless imo since I set it to a height and haven't adjusted it since buying it. The gas cylinder on height adjustable chairs tends to stop working after a couple years. It's made of actual leather, aluminum, a wood seat base, dense foam, and plastic wheels. It has held up incredibly well since I bought it years ago.
I bought the ergo chair 2 to replace my secret labs omega chair and tbh I was a little underwhelmed when I put it together. It’s definitely more comfy, but it lacks the heft of the secret labs chair I have. That should probably be something to expect when you’re swapping out a pleather/foam chair for a mesh chair, but it did strike me when I put it together.
