I get it I am Everquest player myself and I wish we had more games we could gush over and talk about and wax poetic but the brutal truth is we don't. Even MOP writes about small developments that are more akin to a footnote than real progress in some of their news.
Like Is aid I hate the controller and generally only play consoles games when they come to the PC. I am also painfully aware how a site like this can be shut down and it behoves them to find a way to survive and I am not threatened by their changes and inclusion of console games. I am supportive and I also happen to enjoy JRPGs.
Again I point you back to my first post.

Minus that I actually like controllers a lot, that's basically how I feel.
The MMO hayday is over, for now. I'd love for that to not be true. I would love a GW1 spiritual successor. I want PSO2 Genesis and Blue Protocal to be amazing. I want Crowfall to be the PvP home I've been missing. And I want Ashes of Creation to deliver on its amazing pitch.

Is it a problem for you to just ignore and read about the things you enjoy.
Your complaint is they are not putting enough effort into the articles about MMORPGs. Have you perhaps not noticed how few responses are made on the ones they do take pains to write and it is basically a back and forth between a few readers. Which is fine but if you want to grow a site and get traffic you cannot rely on those few people who come here regularly. You have to expand that and they are doing that by covering mobile(die) and console games.
Sony shill! Sorry, that is totally unfounded but I had a huge desire to fit in.
I am sad to say I agree with you on this one. I've bought every Xbox console at launch but this time I am taking a wait and see approach for many of the reasons listed in the article. I've personally been skeptical about the 4k 60fps claims by both Microsoft and Sony so I will be sticking to my current console until we have more real world experience with the consoles.
I do question your concern about Halo, or any game for that matter, being in a final visual state at this point. Halo may have been in development for years but we all know most of the real work is done in the last year or so. Assuming the game goes gold in October for a November launch and they were using an older build that would mean they have several months for polish.
I get it I am Everquest player myself and I wish we had more games we could gush over and talk about and wax poetic but the brutal truth is we don't. Even MOP writes about small developments that are more akin to a footnote than real progress in some of their news.

Ok. I’ll try a simpler example. Please link me the last article written by Shank that was about an MMORPG and as long as this one which is actually a continuation of his prior lengthy article on the same topic.
Do not confuse a 5 second cut/paste of a PR blurb with an actual discussion article. What Red writes are actual articles (thoughI usually disagree with him). What Bradford wrote about SSG was an actual article.
Those spur discussion.

10 min into the video I had to turn it off. Highly subjective and with very little info to back up what you dont like. The system is not even out yet, sometime around Christmas. So we cant judge its performance. I dont care about marketing or game trailers. I dont care if they ran them on a PC or not, as trailers are not game play. We get playing game play clips on an unfinished Xbox Serices X would be a dumb move. Both Sony and MS have made that mistake in the past.
I do like seeing specs as I am a tech guy and that does matter to me. I do get specs and optimization are not always in line. Most of the market get that now so ranting about numbers is just a loss. Also their numbers of unique titles and the fact they will all end up on their sub service, how that upsets you baffles me. Thats the kind of info gamers want to hear. I dont think you get it.
There are now really 2 prohibitive factors for me getting an XBOX or any future XBOX product. Originally, the gamepad was what kept me away. I have never liked, and continue to despise the gamepad. Nowdays, it's easy enough to get a Playstation style gamepad for the XBOX, but XBOX games are now all on windows.
Why would anyone with a computer ever buy an XBOX, when all XBOX games are available on PC?
I dont like how MS runs games on the PC that are ported from the Xbox. They hide the directory so you cant use things like the Nvida Shield to play them on your TV if you want to. I get it, they have competition with the Xbox being their baby. Because of that, I still use my Xbox X. I do like the play anywhere to be able to play my games on my PC when I want but not all games are play anywhere. Its a very short list. Matter of fact, for the 400+ games I own on Xbox, not one of them in Play Anywhere. I wish they would fix that. I do like I can stream my games from my console to my PC and that helps when my wife has a girls night and I am sent to my office to be out of their hair lol. Right now, MS has not made the PC in any way, a way to not need a console. I dont think they ever will, unless the Xbox stops making them money.
A lot of ranting about nothing considering most of us here play games on the vastly superior PC platform.
Some of us play both. I have a PC, an Xbox 1 and a Playstation 3. I use all of them to play games I love. I come here for video game news and debates on the forums. Not PC exclusivity. Welcome to 2020.
If you do not see the difference the issue is on your end. We do not need more spam content. We need good content. Focused on MMORPGs. We actually ALREADY have a sister site for the non-MMORPG stuff right here: https://www.gamespace.com/

Even if Article A had the same detail or more than Article B, it would not generate the same level of discussion. You intentionally selected an article on an obscure game NO ONE gives a shit about vs. a mainstream one people do care about. You intentionally compared an article about a matter of fact news piece to one that is intended to be an open ended opinion piece. Why can't this apple taste like that orange!?

Btw, even Gabe Newell favors XSX over PS5 "because it is" better. But keep on rating over trailers and stuff.
He should have disqualified himself from answering as MS actually lets exclusives go on Steam whereas Sony does not. It's a conflict of interest.
I'm not a console person, but it seems clear that this is probably Microsoft's last console. They've failed to get enough exclusives to go along with their superior hardware.

I was just thinking about Red's last article and not even seeing 1 forum post on the article. I took a peek and his last seven article's do not have as many forum posts as this one (close to 70 as i post) if you are talking about spurred discussions. Red's articles are generally very positive.
I think what spurs *discussion* now on these forums is negativity. This is a negative article, the SSG was a negative article, any epic vs steam article, pvp vs pve article, console vs pc, mmo vs mmorpg designations, these are the topics that continually seem to generate the most forum discussion.

Just my 2 cents
There is some truth to that.
I intentionally don't respond to much of what Red posts because it turns into an argument and I usually disagree with him
That said... I still READ them.

What does Gabe Newell's opinion have anything to do with factual evidence other then microsoft titles being sold on Steam? He's not gonna claim anything that hurts his sales.
Pc gaming mmorpgs are in a rutt. Everything has microtransaction, cashshops, day 1 dlc, terrible overpriced dlc, season passes....

Ayoh no lah don't make me do that. I will ran away and hide. No homework for me.
I have three big problems with the Xbox conference
1)We saw no gameplay for any next gen games but Halo. I don't get how anyone can hate on games that we saw nothing of. Undead Labs was bought by Microsoft in 2018 and said that Microsoft didn't give them a lot of money to make 1 & 2. So they were not AAA games but State of Decay will be. So who knows what that game will look like. On twitter in the same breath they said the game just started active devolpment. Fable is rumored for 2023. Avowed late 2022 or 2023. Confirmed first and third person mode though. Which leads me to my next point...
2)Xbox isn't ready for a next gen console. If all these games they showed are years away. Then they should have waited. It's no wonder why Xbox series X won't have exclusives for the first 2 years because we aren't seeing a series X game till then.
3) The eco-system. At first I was ok with it but if they are pushing PC, phones, and tablets just as hard as the Series X then why should I buy one. Granted I don't have good internet and I prefer consoles. So I will but most people on here will have no reason to pick up a Series X. Most games will run better on PC if not all of them.
I will be getting a PS5 at launch. I will get a Xbox Series X in 2022 when games start coming out and we see more.
Wait. Is a third person optional mode confirmed for Avowed? I would genuinely buy the system or at least the game just for that. I shit you not.
My dad still replays Skyrim and it would make a great gift. But neither of us have any interest in a first person RPG.
Also bear in mind controversy always encourages discussion. In a lot of ways I see Poorna does this he posts some very controversial stuff and people have strong feelings about them and it makes people discuss it. That is also a mark of a good article.
When you simply put out an article that is well written but not really contentious you're not going to get a lot of responses.
Also @Slapshot1188 I don't disagree about what you're saying I am just a tad more understanding and I worry I truly do that this site might just shut down and that too before I make legendary (a real tragedy) no seriously it would break my heart to see that.
