Sadly no matter what Steven does at this point will not sell the game to me.I am not looking for this type of mmorpg,i have totally different ideas.
Kudos for trying to bring a little more realism and life to the world via the node system but even that system is not what i am looking for either.
I can't believe that only ONE studio in the entire world has the same fantasy ideas for a mmorpg that i do and they don't even make mmorpg's ..sigh.
There lies the difference, developers don't have a dream a passion to make something unreal, they have a goal to be like the rest but to try and do it a tad bit better or a tad bit different.
We do NOT need pvp,we do NOT need levels,we do not need nodes or hubs. That ship has sailed MANY times over already, time to move on and make some truly amazing mmorpg's.
A few games touched VERY mildly on the right direction,Rift with Invasions and Rifts,The New World was going to have invasions, this is just a very small peek at the direction these mmorpg's need to go in.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Some people, including me, prefer that type of mmorpg and it's important that there are different types of mmos (some based around story, some based on pvp, some based on pve etc.)
For example, I do not like Albion or FFXIV but I never asked the devs to change the game so it reflects my views because a lot of people love it the way it is.

Glad to see they're doing well enough to be hiring extra personnel.
I love a lot of things about the game, but I think the character models and appearance will be the toughest sell for me...
As much as I want to be excited about that screenshot, the very basic dwarf with the very basic armor doesn't do much for me.
Then again... it's low level armor, so maybe that's exactly the reaction I should have to it.

Too bad the game is still in ALPHA and end development conceptual art isn't in-game yet.
Pantheon has slowly been upgrading it's art as well. This is how development works.
And it will be in Alpha five years from now despite whatever label the so called Devs attach to the game.
It's possible, but as with any development, crowdfunded or not, we simply don't know the answer to that. I'm going to guess a BETA sometime in 2022 simply based on the amount of progress we've seen so far.
This game already had the funding they needed to make the game. Then they got over 3 mill in a kickstarter and the fans keep chuck money at this game with somewhere around another 9 mill over the last couple years. Unlike some MMOs where you dont know what they are spending it on, we keep seeing the team grow as that money is put into speeding up this process. By the devs word full Alpha testing is not that far away. How soon till beta I dont know but Ashes is making really good progress. If you like the game is another thing. I am excited and have reservations at the same time.

Your idea of a great mmo sounds... boring.
