    Also Starcraft, the mmorpg.
Starcraft would be a dream to be honest.

I'm really surprised Blizzard couldn't make this happen...Even if they just used WoW graphics in a different universe it would have sold millions.

They didn't want to compete with themselves.  but they may have if things didn't start falling apart beginning with the end of WOTLK.
They were actually pretty far along on a Starcraft solo FPS.

Would love to see a starcraft mmo, but I agree, bigwigs probably scared it would cannibalize their WOW playerbase.

Others have mentioned Dune mmo is being created by funcom, but I heard it's more like a survival game like their Conan Exiles... not sure, they havent provided much detail on it yet.

I'm just shocked Funcom lands these huge IPs (Conan, Dune).  I actually liked Age of Conan.
Funcom is now completely owned by Tencent. The Dune game will simply be a Dune skin on a gacha game.

As for me, I want a Planet of the Apes mmo. Or Isaac Asimov's Foundation series.

Foundation would be cool, only it would end up with "space knows how many Mules".  B)

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

Doesn't the foundation series jump ahead in huge swaths of time? How would an mmorpg of that work out?

It does indeed jump around in time a lot, covering 1000 years iirc.

But, to build then mmo, just pick a spot in those 1000 years and then leave the players to it. As long as the players aren't mutants, or part of the second foundation, then theoretically we're all subject to the forces of psychohistory and so any action we take in game would be "ok" as it's kinda predicted.

As much as I love BSG, I think it'd be damn hard to capture the same feeling on an MMO. Which are typically known for their shallow and repetitive/grindy gameplay. Even Defiance, which was built to coexist and overlap with the TV show was kinda meh at pulling you into the setting...

If anything, WH40K would probably work best out of all those mentioned above. It's always been more action focused, compared to all the space operas that were mentioned; whose magic relied heavily on the characters and story.

Go forth and slay xenos, mutants and heretics in the Emperor's name!

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

    No love for the Orient!?

    - AKIRA (PVP)
    - Ghost In The Shell (PVP)
    - Neon Genesis Evangelion (PVE)

Could all make some pretty interesting setting for faction based online worlds.

Also by the posts here many are Star Citizen fanboys, they just don't know it yet :D

    Ringworld could work pretty well.
