EQ1 had many great, memorable locations. Kelethin -- the place for drunken duels . Unrest -- a great haunted house. Kedge Keep -- an underwater zone, where staying alive was the responsibility of the druid with a fishing addiction. Even Surefall Glade was a picturesque place for an in-game wedding -- until the bears got involved.
The places you mentioned are my favourites too.
Kelethin was magical the first time I saw it on my High Elf. I thought Felwithe was beautiful but as I ran along the path trying to find this Wood Elf city I could see nothing at all. Of course Greater Faydark is dark because it is a dense forest of trees and then I saw a light and when I looked up I was promptly in awe. Never seen anything like it at all. The boughs and bridges and such a charming place to get lost in. A memory of Everquest that is forever etched in my fondest recollections of the game.
The town of Holtburg in Asheron's Call. So many newbie PvP fights on the server Darktide. You can always create a character and find a small fight of 2v2,3v3,4v4 newbies grouping up with each other and fighting over cheap loot. There was a dungeon down the road from the town that made you lol every time in there fighting amongst each other. I miss this game.
The city of Qeynos and Qeynos Hills from EQ1. I just spent so many hours leveling many toons in those zones. The memory of zoning back into Qeynos with only a sliver of health, running up to the guards and hearing that sweet sweet music kick in as you sit and heal up. I still log in on occasion with project 99 and Qeynos is the first place that I visit.
Costa Del Sol and The Azim Steppe from FF14 are great. There are actually a ton of areas in that game that are just great to me. Oh and The Rak'tika Greatwood in FF14 Shadowbringers is awesome and my new favorite! Love the music
Ohhh, Limsa Lominsa from FF14 would be my second. My god, I love that place.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

The Shire LOTRO certainly has a special place in my heart! I remember when I first set foot in the game and becoming emotional over it. I like going back to it often to rest from the battle.
I also used to like the original Lion's Arch in GW2, before they changed it into a seafood buffet... the redesign lost a lot of character.

Uggggg same, i don't play it anymore and been trying to come up with the ONE! and The Shire keeps coming up over and over.
Many EQ2 places come to mind, SWG ofc, even WoW retail as many obv, BDO... the list goes on and on...
but The Shire for me i think, as yes was an emotional moment, but was probably the only zone i ever felt like i could just play here forever.

There is this one place in Age of Conan where you climb a mountain to finish the area, with a waterfall that was so real looking back in the day... It falls what looks like 500 feet, and it was so awesome my friends & I would stop and just stare at it, for minutes at a time. It was an area where you were 30ish to get there... Don't remember the name though
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

There was also a waterfall(I believe) cliff area that was super high up that your character did a special dive off of into the water below. Only place in the game where the character did that dive animation(to my knowledge). Thunder River zone (around level 60)
Under Atlas statue, in City of Heroes - I liked it because it was a nice big open area / platform that was a social gathering point just outside the doors of city hall. Various contests for appearance were held there and hosted the occasional online broadcaster. Great location in the heart if the city to hang out, show off your costumes, gear and powers, or meet up with other players to form a group or just be social.
