So a game with 5 people playing gets an article about...signposts. Just lol you can't make this stuff up.
When you extrapolate the total player base from the Steam numbers, you might be staggered to find that there are literally HUNDREDS of players who may care about this!
I must be as dumb as a post, a signpost!, I actually stopped and read this.. I still feel a lack of direction.. Should I? ... No will leave this game uninstalled.
No hundred/s as in plural, they haven't had had hundreds in over a year.
Also as pointed out by another,a sign post is hardly worth the thread space.Yeah i get it is more than just a post,it is a warp idea, then again,is a sign post a plausible good idea for warping?
When i think of warping around i think of magic, that does not combine well with a sign post, like they couldn't come up with a better idea? This is about as low of effort as one could possible pull off.
How about some magic looking field with a SHROUD,imagine that, they could even use the title in the warp chamber.I could make one up in about 5-10 minutes in the Unreal engine that would look 500x better than a sign post.So if i could do that in say even 20 minutes, how much effort went into this?So the triggers/sign posts will have several destination triggers, yeah that takes some time to enter all the different locations and jot down a sign post at each but man it doesn't change the sign post idea at all.
Even better is you could have the Shrouded chamber with an ability to see the other side in the magical field, again i can do that in even the FIRST Unreal engine. So yeah the amount of thought and effort put into this is like 0/5.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Buggy quests? Clunky UI? Player retention? Forget these things, guys! WE GOT SIGNPOSTS!!!!!1
They do have some player retention despite the flaws of the game. Part of that is due to the atypically large amount some invested into the game, like those that purchased towns and such. Regardless, they have some faithful.
One of the things that set SotA apart from many MMORPGs is that houses can actually have purpose beyond the collection of non-functional cosmetics.
Being able to craft an abundance of storage rather than do with a set amount or have to purchase it from a cash shop is quite useful. Some houses come with a green house for the top floor, allowing you to produce crops at a faster rate in your own personal plot.
Crafters can have their own personal work benches, a few paces away from all that crafted storage they made, to improve the efficiency of their work.
The game isn't all flaws as some may think from the majority of the posts here.
The fact is that most of those 80 to 90 people logged in (on Steam) are alts. Some people let the client run while they are at work and others are sporting 3, 5, 10 alts sitting in game. So those Steam numbers you see are actually a handful of people. Just watch some SotA streams with chats and you'll see this is true. No one knows the numbers on the standalone client as PortNip won't announce them, which not many companies do nowadays.
Everything this game actually does correctly and fun can be found in a few other games that sport much better systems throughout and run a heck of a lot better to boot.
Woohoo sign posts! This game keeps getting better each month! Soon maps will finally work, crafting will get upgrades, loot will finally not suck, WOW any minute the game will get flooded with new players.
