Well, if indie's are like Chris Roberts, I will support Amazon.

We need to support anyone that's trying to make good games, especially if it's high quality and polished. It's in a much better state from what I've seen than most other in-development games out there. The only game that looks to be in the same sphere as this is Ashes of Creation which I haven't played yet myself.

I am seeing a disturbing picture with this game and Amazon.

I gave them some credit for trying hard to make pve and pvp work, gave them credit for doing the right thing and ASSUMING they were trying to add more pve which is what THEY stated.

Know what i have been seeing since that "put her on hold day?"a bunch of marketing pitches.

So what it looks like is Amazon rather than take heat for a poorly released game is pulling a magic act here.Instead of releasing the game they simply sell pre orders and by doing that they don't have to release and therefor take no heat.
This is basically putting on a veil and pretending to be Star Citizen 2.0

Now my hunch is they are not doing a dam thing but going to market the hell out of this until Christmas then expect a ton of sales because everyone spends at Christmas time.Maybe a mid January release but i am thinking DEC 15th or so.

So until i see a difference maker,i am going to go back to thinking this Amazon studio is a weak sauce studio that just plays head games like the rest of them.

And that is different than SC and how?

SC is showing how to make money on games w/o actually putting one out.

What someone else said. If you preorder from amazon they get nothing until the actual game comes out.

If you dodge while running towards an object you’ll jump over it. No free-jumping though.

I would prefer no jumping in a game rather than a piss-poor implementation of it, i.e. ESO.

What cracks me up is they take pvp 99% out the game then dedicate so much time to their “awesome amazing 1% of your time once a week if you’re lucky pvp”.

Which lags and lasts 30 mins against a whopping 50 opponents (assuming they don't ghost you, which I guarantee will start happening)

I pre ordered and defended it, then when it came time to launch in August, they pushed it back 9 months and so I cancelled my STEAM pre order. I could try the game out by pre ordering through Amazon, but honestly, I'd rather wait for Ashes of Creation.

They pushed it back 9 months?  I didn't realize that.  It's not really on my radar to be honest, but I have checked out a couple of streams suggested by Twitch.  But not enough to have an opinion.

It really depends on the style of the game. For example, MHW does not have jumping but it has so many other ways of moving around that it does not feel cheap at all (hooks, climbing, hanging from vines, vaulting etc).

It really depends on how New World implements movement overall and whether it feels right - and on personal preference of course. I actually prefer this approach to the bunny hopping of most MMORPG's.
I never noticed that in Monster Hunter World. I was too busy watching my back , sides and climbing up here and there to notice I couldn't jump.

I was willing to accept people's argument that Star Citizen ran poorly because it's in Alpha, but this game was slated for release this summer and was delayed due to lack of content content, not performance. This really isn't a good look for Lumberyard.

I might give it a try if the PvE is good and PvP could ignored entirely. But they need to do something about these at best mediocre characters. I might forgive that this billion $ company only manages a 2 decades old standard of a customization system IF the identical clone bodies plus almost identical faces would look good and the outfits would be lookers. But they are not; they (avatars and costumes) are as bland as it gets.

They should take a lesson from BDO. Visually you can make you character as boring or as stunning as you wish; and before the local racists bemoan "hurhur Asian style" you can make said characters look like any ethnicity you want. And before the war-on-woman waging shamers lament the revealing outfits: you can cover the chars up as much as you want.

Bunny hopping needs to be consigned to gaming history and kids games like Fortnite. The more skill based approach I applaud, it still seems to have a PvP focus so that's apt.

Not quite sure how the game all hangs together as yet and the "lore" reminds me of Eastern MMOs. In other words there is hardly any, which is very poor but now part of the modern MMO template. Don't think, just press buttons.

That aside, it looks good and I will now start to keep an eye on it.

No jumping works. I thought I would hate it, but if you're commenting and haven't played then you won't understand. Sprinting lets you leap over objects and you climb up cliffs without jump. You actually reach up and climb to the next ledge instead of bunny hoping up a cliff. It feels more realistic, not less. Dodge gives you a small jump in a particular direction and it's tied to stamina to prevent abuse.

Also, ranged combat is not even close something like ESO. In ESO the hit boxes are large and it's actually hard to miss. Here it's very easy to waste ammunition on small hit boxes and when lag comes into play. Bunny hoping would be a nightmare in PvP. I wasted over 5 arrows on a turkey that was running around in circles. AND I actually need to kill the turkey for it's feathers to make more arrows, kind of a catch-22 there.
