I was hoping I wouldn't have to write this article, but I always knew it was a possibility. Marvel's Avengers launched this week and for better and worse, I'm having a real sense of Anthem déjà vu.

Is it that they are sad that Marvel has failed, again, to force Ms Marvel on the public?

Is it because they are paid by Disney?

Or is everyone just suddenly a huge Mavrel fanboy?
Reviewers are more than happy to sh-t all over other games, which are superior to this one...

Sigh. Kamala has been in Marvel since 2013 and has become one of the most popular and better developed characters, so grow up and stop living in the past, dude, there's a world outside of your basement.

About the game, the campaign is quite fun and probably the best marvel coop game ever done since Marvel Heroes (each hero is fun and feels iconic), but I'm also having Anthem vibes about it. The game could fail hard in playing retention if the developers doesn't add more map variety and incentives to the multiplayer mode.

So let's hope they have enough content coming soon.

The bugs are expected at launch day in almost every game today, so I'm not surprised.

I would really, really love a game in this genre, just once, to launch in a good, content-dense state.

Warframe is great now, but it launched as a mediocre game.

Destiny 1&2 sucked ass at launch, and the franchise has improved to the astromical heights of ... mediocrity. And is now cutting most of its content so it can go back to sucking ass.

Anthem launched without content, dead on arrival.

And the Division? A mundane setting for a mundane game full of hacks and exploits.

Maybe it'll live and grow long enough to be good when I buy it for the PS5 in a year. I'm not mad, just disappointed.

I know it's pointless to say anything to you, but people loved Kamala in MUA3, and they love her here. The game has 99 problems, and she aint one.

My first review for this game I gave it horrible marks because the system I had which was 3 generations past their recommended specs just couldn't run the game. It kept my CPU at 100% no matter what I did. It also didn't want to use my GPU.

I have since then built a new rig was already waiting on parts. I have only ran across one bug so far at 15 hours in. My game froze up when I defeated the second main boss in the story arc. When I logged back in though the game picked up after the kill and continued, so I didn't lose the kill or progess.

I can say I have noticed the game runs ten times better on my SSD than my mechanical drive. I have ran it off of both just to see how much a difference it would make.

Overall the developers deserved a lot of the hate for the game being unplayable on a large portion of systems. Other than that though the gameplay is pretty solid. I can't stand playing Iron Man or Thor though because you can't make them run, as soon as you try they want to fly and the flying controls are just not that great for me to be honest. Just don't enjoy the way the flying feels.

I would say Kamala is my favorite to play with right now. She is very versatile and can heal when needed which is great.

I keep seeing all the typical I ran through the story in 10 hours complaints you see with every launch. All I can say is they skipped 2/3 of the things in the levels. I really doubt they even found one of the vaults that actually lead to new side quest because they were in such a rush. There are tons of things to do. As an example at 15 hours I just unlocked Black Widow. That is as far in the story as I have gone because of all the extras hidden in the missions that I complete. Tons of daily and weekly things to complete to unlock that "free" stuff (battle pass system) that came with the purchase to include the currency to buy the new additions without having to pay a dime more.

I plan to only play this as a solo player game so with that said I give the gameplay a 7.5 or so. On the technical side I would say this game is around 4.5 because of the launch issues on all the different types of pc builds. They didn't spend enough time working on the PC side of it for launch.

The game does have bugs, as expected but I AM having fun with it so that's all that matters to me. People dig way too much into shit and create problems out of no where. Play a game, if its fun, enjoy it. If its not fun, get off and be done with it. No need to write up huge articles blasting things just because you had a bad experience or are just bias or what not.

Watched a friend play for about an hour on a high end system and must say the visuals are nice especially thor and cap animations. Also think it's funny they used the marvel heroes 3 display talent/skill selection system lol.

I find it very hard to believe though that they'll be offering additional characters for free. If it's like every other Marvel game if it survives that long may have the better stuff added later.

The reviews on Steam have been kinda rough so hope they don't get pissed and give up out of spite.

Will buy it later if they ever add any of the characters I like.

Their goal is to get people to buy battle passes rather than heroes. We'll see if they ever have to change their mind.

This looks like a total dumpster fire.

Never mind the stupid micro transactions and that it seems to be a Chinese rip off of the Avengers the fact that they have motion blur that can not be disabled in 2020 is just mind blowing. As someone who gets motion sick very easy and despises micro transaction games this is a hard pass.

Not only that but it's pretty insulting to the Avengers.

I play this game with my kids. I would say in its current state its about 6/10. Its very lacking, Khan isnt its issue, i can still be thor so im good. I feel most characters are solid but really get better once you unlock stuff and level them up. When you first start playing Hulk doesn't "feel" like Hulk at all and i could see that putting some people off.

Enemies are very repetitive as are the missions. Its fun but has no lasting appeal. Anthem even had more imo then this.

I think it is clear that Ms Marvel is not what is wrong with MA, but I do think it strange that Michael has to point that out. Maybe not being on social media has some blessings?

We should all be used to this by now, the big title release that comes out too soon, keep your money in your wallets this is now how AAA gaming rolls. Wait for the reviews, not the hype.

I love and hated Marvel Heroes, I see enough of that in Marvel's Avengers that I will eventually play it.

Like Anthem and other games there is enough here that I am interested... eventually. No way will I pay full price for it, between the MTX and areas of the game that seems lacking just make it a no go. I have better games to spend my money on for the rest of this year.

As far as the characters go from what I have seen they all seem to be lacking a spark to make them really connect with players. Even watching others play the game it feels like you are watching people play faded carbon copies of the characters. There is no "heart" to their portrayal, they almost seem to be just putting in the appearance because it is part of their contractual requirements, if that makes any sense.

Wow, thank you for that. I did not know that motion blur cannot be disabled and I am with you. I cannot play games with it and I did my first ever Steam refunds this year due to it. It should always be able to be turned off.

I was already not going to buy it but now its not even a question even if on sale.

Motion blur can be disabled from the launcher options.

I'm not a marvel fanboy, so I don't give one sh** about this game. I didn't see any marvel movies since the original... What was it called. The Marvel Racoon... The first Guardians of the galaxy. "I am Groot." That's the last Marvel film I saw. It was alright. Overall nothing special lol. Who wastes their times liking this crap? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And moreover. Who actually believes a decent game will ever come out of a high profile cinema IP? No other Marvel game has been decent, why expect this one to be? It's just a franchise milk, JUST LIKE they will be 10 years from now. Still utter crap. In 2030, Terrible marvel games will still be releasing. Mark my words. Somber disappointment, even if you are a fan.

i mean i'm over 50 hours in and having a blast, sure it has some issues.. matchmaking feels broken, but performance wise i'm running full ultra with the high resolution texture pack with no noticable performance issues. I still have plenty to do and i'm enjoying it,.

I haven't come across any game breaking bugs or anything weird but i know of people who have had some issues like their cosmetics disappearing but i mean CD is working on it.

It outstands me how much misinformation and straight up lies is going around about this game, but it is what it is.

Is it perfect, no like any live service game. Is it terrible not by a long means, graphically it's amazing, the story is really well done, the "end game" is pretty repetitive at the moment but what game isnt.

Personally, I won't be playing the game. I think their business practice and the fact they think its okay to include basically a battlepass per character in addition DLC characters coming too, no thanks. I think that's the REAL story here but no, by all means let's talk about the politics because that's the real reason visit gaming forums and play video games. *Forums messed up with quoted post, I italicized it for easier reading*
Just FYI, the DLC characters are free and you can add a battle pass onto them if you want to unlock their cosmetics and nameplates etc...
you don't have to buy the battlepass it only really provides cosmetic stuff and the characters are free, so i'm not sure what business practices you are referring to.

Honestly this does not remind me of Anthem at all, the game definitely has some launch issues for sure, but I am finding it to be far more fun than Anthem ever was, with a lot more added potential because of the IP and unlike Anthem, this games story is actually surprisingly good. Marvel's Avengers can very easily be a replacement for Marvel Heroes for people given enough time to grow the roster and the content. I don't understand the client-side thing, myself I think surely this has to be something they intend to change. Overall I am finding it to be a lot of fun. Crashes/Memory Leak issues ended for me when I turned off Dynamic Resolution Scaling in the display settings, and apparently it helps many other people with that issue as well.

The game could definitely have stood to be delayed for a little bit to iron some things out, but over all if they do as they say they will with tons of content updates over the course of many years, I see no reason why this game won't be a huge success for Square Enix.

As gamers, there is always the complaint that games take too long to develop and anything that goes beyond the 4 - 5 year mark MUST be vapourware. We see games come out unpolished, unfinished and lacking content more often than not, in great part, due to investors. In recent years those investors are, more often than not, gamers due to paid alphas, betas and crowdfunding.
I am more and more of the opinion that games should be made in secret and shared with gamers when they're good and ready. Anything else and we just end up with an industry full of crap.

Square Enix is fast becoming the new Ubisoft or EA.

Why publish quality games when you can publish everything that has the potential to make obscene amounts of money regardless of quality?

Every corner I turn, I just see more and more of SE's excessive greed.

Really hurts as an old fan back in the Squaresoft days.

Once upon a time, Lucasarts made amazing Star Wars games. There was seriously so much diversity in the genres. They covered the entire gaming spectrum and most of them were great even for folks that weren’t big fans of the IP.

No other Marvel game was decent? Was I dreaming when Spiderman PS4 was one of the best games in a year that also gave us God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2?

Also, if you didn't think Guardians was brilliant, you have no soul, my dude.

It would be interesting to know the percentage of people trashing the game who actually ever had the intention of playing it, or Anthem, or who even read the article.

We get it--popular entertainment sucks and has all been ruined by SJWs and only idiots like it. I'm sure there'll be like 10 more Adult-rated anime dating sims on Steam by the end of the week to keep you busy while the world goes to hell.
