From what I have read on official forums is they can't run both Maps at the same time as they use separate database. This isn't a true expansion, hell it be better if it was a standalone "Expansion" as you really don't interact with the base game aside from that NPC port, which I doubt will let you bring items on them.
Yeah expansion isn't the right term here but I'm guessing the price point would drop if they called it "Alternative Map"

Agreed.

Since this expansion involves sorcery i really hope this is the update that will add spell casting. That's the biggest thing I wanted to see in Conan Exiles that I loved from Age of Conan.
EDIT: I haven't played in a long time so i don't know if magic is already in game.

Doubtful. However, there are mods that added magic to the game I read.

IIRC, the devs announced last year that they were cutting the sorcery feature that had long been teased/planned, so I wouldn't hold my breathe on them deciding to include it in the future.

This seems more like a new game using the same code. It seems less an expansion than a competing product, more like Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 -- separate games, same engine. I'll have to see.
(FYI: I can't seem to access the free weekend of this CE:IoS through Stream. There's no option to download this 'expansion'/DLC)

Idk what it is, not normally a survival fan but this being Hyboria and having one of the best building systems I've ever seen keeps me coming back. Getting a few friends together and planning to play for our 5th or 6th session.

A friend of mine did the same with me. He and his clan own a private server. It kinda took away all the fun/meaning of playing the game, more so even because they know every nook and cranny of the existing maps which turns exploration obsolete so that's why I'm also really looking forward for a fresh start.
My son got this and then he wanted me to play with him so i grabbed it and soon as i started he had me decked right out lol.
I liked the game, a fresh start makes this a much more attractive option, so many other players all starting over too, like mini reboot.
Back when I played the game with my friends, I had assignments to do with barely any time to spend playing it. I understand where you're coming from.
One day, we were in a small base still growing and exploring, I log after 3-4 days and the base was humongous with ton of gear, weapons and thralls at disposal. One of my friends told me that if I wanted I could take gear from the chest but I refused. Why should I? That would ruin the whole point of the progression in the game.
Ultimately, I ended up going building a base on my own so that I could experience the game as it is intended. I don't see the point in rushing in such a game.

Just doing the same bullshit Zenimax pulled with ESO. Told everyone all DLC would be free, then called regular DLC "Chapters/expansions" as a loophole to sell DLC. And people are sheep who somehow think an "expansion" isn't DownLoadable Content because they used a different word.
The base game has been out for a long time now for a buy to play game. They've provided a lot of updates and support for it (I know players still want all the bugs fixed).
How are they supposed to make money if they can't sell clearly massive content?

I just hope it's not a small map, but something akin to the original map for longevity sake.
Agreed.
