One of the hardest decisions a guild makes is to whom you give access to guild funds and assets. It's so easy to make a mistake, or to misjudge someone.

I would lean toward some seriously good roleplay. As you can read he actually messaged them to remove his discord permissions because he had no interest in hurting them outside of the game it would appear. Since all he did to them was steal from them in game like he was hired in game to do, I see it as some proper espionage. Had he blown up their discord and/or sit or forums I could see that being just a real life asshole. He just stole from them in game after gaining their trust. I'd say thats a pretty good roleplay job.
As best I can figure out, it was either Gold or Silver, but since Gold is the Purchasable currency from the Game Shop, it would make the most sense that was what they were talking about, as silver can be earned in game.
In either case, this is exactly why I don't play games like EvE and Albion.
For those of you that do.. Kudos and Enjoy!
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.
Feels meta gaming though... guild permissions are not earned in game strictly, they are assigned more from human to human... based on out of game discussions and determination.
On the fence, infiltration of a guild is cool rp of political gaming and spying. However, when the human over discord is pretending to be a genuine friend and helping other humans play... sharing personal stories... they are out of character. I think this really poor gamesmanship and not roleplay whatsoever.
If the person/character got permission without being on discord, I think it would be more cut and dry fine.
It's not without good reason the deepest level of hell is reserved for traitors.

This is why you never let any single person hold the entirety of a guild bank.
Be it a leader or officer. If the game has a bank where 1 person could withdraw everything you should NOT use it except for money directly needed for officers to run events with. Holdings should be distributed as evenly as possible among Sr.Officers.
The little annoyance of needing people online is more then worth it then risking that.
Even people you think you trust could 1 day screw you over.
Spliting it between the masses means at most you lose a percentage.
In FFXI my guild was stolen from twice. Once by the original founder who took everything,. bailed, and joined the "Big guild" when they bought enough gear to get into it. 2nd time was long after I became lead one of my officers stold their portion of the bank and rmted it on their way out.
We lost 21mill, but the bank was over 130mill. So splitting it saved over 80% of the bank.
Person who stold is more or less the lowest form of scum. And I would assume anyone who would do that and betray those whose see him as a friend is more or less scum in rl as well.
looks more like a failing of game design, and having played this game, i can tell you with certainty it is. This game is basically a mobile game that looks and runs worse than most mobile games
Tax system is stupid and has been from the start. Any type of free money leads to human beings becoming greedy fekkers wanting more and more.. In many ways I think it was a detriment to the game from the beginning and should have been scrapped cause it prevented players from experiencing the game fully because they are always being taxed. Guilds became money farms from day 1 instead of a group of people you get to know and grow with like in other games.
If guilds need to upgrade islands do it the old fashioned way where you get familiar with your guild and donate materials the classic way little by little. If you feel like your guild is worth contributing to then go farm and donate materials seems like a more honest approach.
Stuff like this happens daily on a smaller scale but the only reason this one made news is cause the number was so high. I'd luv to blame ftp for this cause I loathe SBI for going ftp but it's mostly a design flaw like @Kratier said with a little human flaw mixed in.

It cannot be decided with this one action. That being said he is aware of the damage caused and will be caused.

Exactly. "a billion" is a useless description.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
Game money I would assume.
As it turns out... Googling Albion Online Silver brings up a "gold seller" site that shows one billion silver is about a thousand bucks.
Big deal.
