And I'll be getting mine Black Friday 2021. Probably for cheaper, with a bigger starting library, and without any potential early-adopter manufacturing defects.

Really looking forward to it. They've got one Hell of an announced lineup already.

another potential benefit of waiting for a 2021 black friday will be lower NVMe prices too. I'm so looking forward to it.

Yet I will wait for the PS5 to drop in price $200 cheaper or so.

You will not wait much. 7-8 or so years.

PS4 is still around $300 from an initial price of $399.

Anyway, why is the title of this News, showing the expensive model only? Or why not both?

The Drive will soon be useless for consoles too, same as with PC's. I'm ...Driveless since 5+ years ago on my PC and not once I was in need of a CD/DVD/Blue-Ray drive. So yea, the $399 PS5 will be ..My Precious!! :)

after a lifetime of doing that on all previous consoles, i just can't stop doing that so i will buy discs until the world... yes the world, not the US, stops manufacturing them. The states is pushing digital faster than other countries. As long as I have Japan to import physical games from i'll hold on to it.

This presentation today has made me so hype! That Demon Souls game play trailer.. Mother of God..

I'm still going to wait to get the second gen version because I have this terrible feeling there are going to be problems at launch. I still don't like white and I'm sure they will have different colours later. I just hope it's not too long.

FYI the pre-orders dropped early at Bestbuy, Target, Walmart and Gamestop.  All are currently sold out. (But I did snag one)

You can get a PC for $400 today.  It's just a lot less powerful than the consoles.

I have  PS4PRO and XBox1 and have 100s of games and for the last year I've bought half of those games on PC cause they do look almost the same but loading times on PC vs consoles is like night and day.
However I will buy PS5 and i strongly believe that it will work as good as a PC. The hardware on PS5 makes me believe that.

Good to see that their digital version is identical to the disk version minus the disk drive, unlike what MS did with theirs crippling the performance of their digital version.

Ehhh... I think I'll stick to my PC. Update the graphics card every other year and I'm good.

I haven't seen a MUST have exclusive yet. I got the switch solely because of BOTW. I got the PS4 for Horizon Zero Dawn (which is now on PC) and I got the XBOX for my kid and family most of them play together on that platform.

I do love how connected Microsoft is with the PC and XBOX. But I Prob won't buy another console unless it has something REALLY next level which I don't see. The graphics don't impress me because the PC just looks and runs better.

This. I'm gonna get the digital version. 399 for those specs is a bargain imo. And so far I love the day 1 exclusives for PS5 much more compered to Xbox. I love the new PS Plus feature as well. Knowing that I have a library with all PS4 exclusives in it for me to play whenever I want without any extra price is great.

The one thing I'm wondering though is that I have a few - not many - PS4 games that I bought on disk. That might cause problems if I want to keep playing them on the PS5 since they weren't bought through their store digitally.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

At any rate I won't be a day one adopter so I'm sure that will get sorted out somehow.

Since 360 haven't bought an Xbox. Will get this I got the PS4 about a year later when it had enough JRPGs on it.

    Not worth buying IMO.

Here it's 2020, and the PS5 isn't even backwards compatable with previous games PSX, and PS2 titles, simply because of Intergraded DRM, and they want to charge consumers $500 for this product...

If your console fails too and any of the critical hardware gets ruined it can't be easily repair without a very expensive charge either due to DRM intergraded on the chips at a hardware level.

Yet without giving sites these days you can find PSX, PS2, and PS3 emulators that play all the titles, so there is absolutely no reason a PS5 can't play previous old titles, or no reason sony can't give previous owners of said games free and playable through the downloadable store.

Instead of wasting $500 on a PS5, i'd say wait for a 3080ti graphics card, and build a new PC that can do PC gaming as at least you never have to worry about not being able to play a game.

No doubt the console will have a lot of sales, but as a consumer I just can't justify spending $500 on a console with very limited functions, DRM, and Anti- Consumer Repair.

I watched the PS5 technical showcase a while back. Does the Xbox X have zero load times and fancy audio too?

It's a good price point for Sony, the digital version I mean, I think that the PS5 being less powerful than the Xbox Series X that the $499 model is a bit too high but the digital version is priced right. It is in between the X and the S in power and priced that way.
I think the Xbox Series S is the real winner. Priced at $300 for what it offers power-wise is a steal.  It is not 'crippled' compared to the X it is aimed at those not needing everything at 4k. Not every consumer cares for nor has 4k displays yet. The series S runs at 1440. The X at 4k.
Sony will fluctuate between the two depending on the game.
What is more interesting though with 'digital editions' of consoles is the games purchased on them, generally,  can be bought from the console makers store only.
Unlike a disc which can be bought from different retailers at different prices.
I still have Gamers Club from Best Buy until May 2022 so I pay in the $40 range for brand new releases. Going all digital with consoles do not afford that option. So pricing a digital only console lower is smart because they actually can make the difference up quick.
I know personally I am not ready to go all digital with consoles yet.

What have you been smoking lately ?!

PS5 is between X and S series in power?! PS5 and X are almost identically. The GPU, RAM and Bandwidth of the two are almost double vs the S series.

So literally, for $100 in plus, you get A LOT more power if you compare PS5 Digital Edition vs Xbox S series.

I..get it. You a Xbox fan, but .. at least try and make decent comparation.

So your saying that you play Diablo 3, and world of war craft haha, besides a few minor others there is 0 physical pc games. Not only that 0 computers in 2020 actually have a blu ray drive, so u have to custom make it, or buy a USB blu ray which can't play 4k blu rays cause I dono some complex jibberish and legal garbage. That just comes down to they don't want me able to stream 4k blu rays to my cell phone over my own network, so I'm forced to buy garbage streaming a services that look worse than 1080 blu rays even at 4k.

A pc at the ps5 specs is 100 percent obtainable at 500 dollars when the 3000 series comes out.  The ps5 is a low end garbage amd cpu that isn't even as good as a intel laptop cpu, and the gpu is some where around a 2070 to 2080. So it will be equal to a 3050 ti when ever that comes out. Besides ps5 are not 500 dollars they are over a 1000 now.

You sounded like you knew what you were talking about, but then lost all credibility with that last sentence where you equated the price of a scalper to that of the manufacturer's retail price.
