Cool, a different setting for an MMO. Atheistic looks chill.

Finally affirmative action I can get behind. Like I’m fairly right wing but I love being exposed to cultures in ways like this. If we get central and North African folk lore turned up to 11 I’m all in. Would love a Cajun/creole based mmo though I’m from Louisiana so I’m biased.

This looks interesting, may back it and read the lore! As an MMO player would love to know more about the PvE gameplay as hard timing finding this.

I would LOVE an afropunk or afro-fantasy setting in an MMO. That being said, this doesnt look like my cup of tea from the gameplay.

Good job with the dyslexic unfriendly font (I like it though). Now I just read it as Wagabu lol. I hope this gets funded, it looks pretty neat!

Really cool. I get Wushu vibes. Now only if can be as culturally rich as Wushu.

Very lore oriented game.. Reminds me of Guild Wars 1 as far as the lore side of things.. It is unique and interesting.. Would like more ingame scenes to get an idea of what actually is supposed to happen.. Promos are great but hearing what the plan is, as opposed to seeing will get me more interested

No one sees anything wrong with the title alone....? Riot-backed game needs kickstarter? Riot is a small indie company or something now?

Jumped tight out at me. What next? MS kickstarter for Windows 11? :)

I don't understand how an MMO with a homogeneous world would make for a replayable game.  Looks better as a short single player game world.

Gotta love the racial bullshit because you know having it dominate every other facet of live wasn't enough. Real question: why the fuck does a Riot game need crowdfunding? Riot Games revenue = over $500MM, fund the shit yourself to get over your white guilt.

Nah, if they're spending money, no one will have a problem with it.

Uhh the KS is for 117k. Riot didn't have 117k?

The art style looks like African Albion and coincidence both SBI and Twin Drums are in Berlin. Even the layout of some of menus look like Albion.. I'm just gonna say it just looks like a reskinned Albion.

I was wondering how a new KS MMO would get of the ground after all the bad publicity from closures and delays, the answer may be some politically correct box ticking. People pay to do that, maybe this will work?

If you are taking money every way you can from players there is no such thing as boundaries or good practice. We seem to be prepared to accept anything in gaming that opens our wallet so why not?

Well, wasn't Square Enix who started this? They had an Indie program when 4 Indie games would go on a poll and the winner would get financial backing. It kinda sucked for everyone else.

No connection there. A quick search indicates Wagadu was the name of the Ghana Empire of west Africa in the third century (Common Era)

For the folks saying Riot should not crowdfund please remember Obsidian crowdfunded both POE games. Its not like this is completely new idea.

It was scumbag e-begging then, too...

Interesting, but probably not for me.  Isomorphic and probably not enough diversity to hold my attention for long.  Besides, as several people have already pointed out, the name is too similar to Wakanda.  If someone has to make a game based on a real world culture, I'd rather see something based on India -- maybe 13th or 14th century.

I started life as an archaeologist, I'd rather not see a company mess up historical cultures.

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

I dunno.  I think the imagery from various African mythologies would translate really well to a video game.  They are also different enough from Western and Asian myths that you could riff off a lot of the creation myths and such and it would be new stories to most people.

Do you trust a game designer to do a single culture properly, much less multiple cultures?  When a developer gets a real world culture wrong, there will be people who get miffed with that company.  Best not to risk upsetting people in these politically sensitive times.
