I'll wait for it to arrive on Game Pass so I can see how it actually plays out. I don't want to lay out a full box fee for an RPG dating sim. I doubt they're going to one-up Hatoful Boyfriend which is brilliant for what it is.
That is another backfire from market spoiling, consumer resistance to paying full price or pay at all ever again.
Cause yeah i'm leaning towards buying this but i'd prefer it on gamepass for free.
I'm just so used to paying free for everything you know. haha omg really makes one wonder how all this will really end.
Then i'm thinking well i don't want to buy it and it comes up on a steam sale.
Then i'm thinking even worse it's free af on epic later.
Then i'm thinking even much worse it's free all the time on gamepass later.
As a consumer i don't want to feel ripped off after i've payed full price and everyone is happy as can be playing it for free.

I have really good fiber internet and no cable. I pay for Hulu, Disney+, Netflix, Boomerang, and Britbox. I rarely buy movies or TV shows at all and only those I really like. Gaming could head the same direction. I have ~400 games in my Steam library. A subscription type gaming service allows me to be much more selective with the titles I directly support with a box fee purchase.
This could provide a lot of incentive for studios of all levels to up their own development game a little. Competition just intensified and the playing field leveled somewhat. It's more likely publisher money will go to titles that people actually play and services like Game Pass and Stadia will have much more accurate metrics on what and how people play.
There are probably a lot of outcomes to this. In my mind it was only a matter of time before gaming caught up with video entertainment Netflix style. Overall I think the result has been positive regarding movies and serials.
That's probably where we will end up, which yeah, my yearly game spending is already way the f down. Always sucked paying full pop for a game and then find out it's not what you like.
Part of what i'm wondering in where will this all end up as is in whose backyard?
I mean to pass on gamepass atm is very hard, you look at any game you could buy at 60 on steam or epic, but free on gamepass and that 60 will buy you thousands of dollars worth of games for a year.
All it takes is one game, and then it's almost impossible to pass on the pass.
Once you arrive on the gamepss most people will be like why leave, then i'll have to pay for games again.
Later once the user base is gargantuan and dwarfs steam and epic users, a developer wants the biggest audience. All part of watching the show, how it ends? nobody knows.
So yeah i'm hoping for that same situation too, the better the game you make the more $$ you get, then we have come full circle, back where developers are left to do waht they do best, get creative, make what they want to make, make great fucking games again, and where all our votes matter.
No longer dictated by utter morons such as bobby, wilson, or sweeney whom only know how to exploit this once great hobby, thinking now, tbph i hope MS takes over everything and tosses these clowns to the curb, they contributed nothing, all they have done is destroy the world in which we all play in. Polluters.

is this trying to convey depth of design or just trying to create interest when there is little interest?
Go for the eyes boo,go for THE EYES.

It's funny because we have such fond memories of games gone by but that was because in the moment, those games were as good as they could be.Now if i go back and look, ack not so good anymore.
That is why i hate living in the past but sadly for many of us,some game designs from the past are still better than most of today.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Instead of quoting several people above whom are pro and or neutral, all i can say is how is this even a topic?
It's in witcher, mass effect, even gts SA ffs, so f'ing what! wow! and speaking of wow even in shadowlands.
Basically those claiming it's for virgins are calling yourself one and every single person whom ever played an rpg is one, i mean it's gotta be the most r'tard thing i've ever heard.
I played og BG and was married and a year'ish later first child when Icewind Dale hit and by the time Neverwinter hit (didn't play - played nn) i had a 3 year old and 1 year old, but f me right that can't be cause only virgins play them, i mean do you even remotely f'ing understand the gibberish your spewing.
tbh i've never given this topic much thought, if any at all, i mean it's normal, and to deep thought it, kinda be f'ed up if it was missing.
Thanks Gorwe for the heads up, i'll look into that, cause i've no idea what that is, but it's probably what is making me so interested.
I mean it looks so bad ass, and like this whole new type of game, like something brand new.
So yeah i'll research it, haven't bought it just yet, part of the issue for me is pre-patch is about to drop and i know that'll suck me back into wow hard, cause atm i've no drive knowing we are on the doorstep of pre-patch and SL, i knock out a couple levels then hammer classic and swg:l
one thing you understand over the years is when someone pulls the virgin card and is serious about it, you can bet he is one, hence why its so damn important to him, but he want to look "cool" over the internet or his peers, because if you are not and have access to it you don't really care much.
though I would ask for more don't know better looking chars or the very least some char you can like, most games today I don't even touch that subject in the game, there is no one I could feel a good match, most storys are too generic or really bad, also since most it don't give anything in gameplay term I tend to skip, at most I read from someone how it goes
everything about this game is like , them adding "flavor" and missing the entire point of D&D and baldurs gate as a whole
like them adding the ui for downed / death rolls, or the roll for status checks being a dice UI , but then the entire rest of the game's ui is barren with flat generic text for dialog prompts
i had this game on my wishlist for forever, and i hope it comes out good, but seeing them demo it on youtube, it looks like D&D is absent from this game
I am sure there will be an audience for a d&d-lite divinity sequel, but if you are calling it baldurs gate 3, i really hope you consider the previous games and what made them good.
them talking about sex scenes and showing like 15 different sex positions when their gnome looks like an elf head plastered on a cartoon body , good grief.
I'll admit there's some ridiculous stuff like that jumping bit they've added...
Larian has very poor impulse control when it comes to the use of some of their features that would be absolutely awesome if used sparingly but they kind of ruin it by making it a thing in 99% of their fights.
Like oil or poison barrels everywhere so you can have elemental interactions. They even put them out in the wild where it makes no sense that someone dragged 10 of them there.
They do kind of the same thing with the Z axis. I mean... it's very cool that their games have that Z axis for encounters but if you use it for every single encounter like they did in DOS:2, that just means you have to spec every single party member into polymorph so you can fly.

I didn't take polymorph. I finished the game fine. I had a lot of pets. That kept everyone busy. I died a lot though from unwanted explosions that I agree could get out of hand.
That oil fight was nuts and it took well over an 90 minutes to finish.
I feel like relationships in gaming came about because 30 year old virgins were the primary target of video games. Now games are mainstream with kids, moms, dads, grandads...literally everyone playing them. Do we need pretend relationships in games anymore? It just seems at best cringy... at worst a weird dating sim you don't want your normal friends to know about.
Yeah, I mean it wasn't like videogames were seen as children's toys since like... forever. Dumbest comment I've read on this site.
Some of these "I don't like icky "relationships" (look up the definition of relationship, its broad) comments sound like children afraid of cooties. Why would you read a book with romance plot? Or watch a film with love interest? or a song about love? We don't consume any media about love or intimacy with an objective stance. We do it because romance and love are human experiences. Some games can do it wrong and not give you options with platonic relationships but for the most part they heighten drama and investment into the story.
"Can I play it without knowing anything about the franchise?"
Who asks this sort of question? Players who have zero interest in RPG's, that's who. Go back to your Candy Crush if having to read the equivalent of four pages of a novel to understand the world is too much for you.
Someone who is unfamiliar wants to know if they need to understand anything about the franchise before diving into this game? It's a legit question. If this triggers you then definitely stay away from Major Tom, Ground Control, and their dumb inquiries.
While we are here, "Do I need to know anything about my PC or console before I play the game. Also want to ask about the chair or couch I sit on while playing, do I need to know anything about it?"
Ok that was a rant, but games should be allowed more time than it takes for the load up screen to load to be play ready.
So many angry, weird people here that bash the romance in games. If you don't like it you can skip the scene, play other games. Witcher has it and it's the best rpg i plaid in a while. Then there is Mass Effect another great game series. So why you people raging on forums for such trivial feature that isn't either bad or good or ruin your game(it may ruin for kids that say eww cooties) also rated as pegi18. It's like posting on porn sites your opinion on why porn is bad and made it lose your husband, funny tho. This comment section is amusing sometimes. Edit: This game looks amazing. Curious if it will reach Witcher 3 awesomeness. Must wait...
