Don't act as if you are a player, you obviously are not.
there you go confusing wow and LOTRO again. Now while I agree its overpriced Lotro is going nowhere any time soon

Worst 2 wow and Lotro Under standing stones it went woke
Game needs a major overhaul to bring me back
I am (or was since I don't support these scammers anymore) and he is right.
It's pretty obvious they are desperate for cash, rushing an overpriced mini expansion out of the door as quickly as possible.
There are so many issues with this game right now, which they are unable (or unwilling) to fix due to lack of resources.
Same with server stability issues that has been going on for years now. /facepalm
LOTRO was always one of my favorite MMO's I kept going back to, since I am a Tolkien fan, but I just can't support these people anymore. Mismanaging the game.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

The amount of content for this small sized DLC that they call expansion should not cost more than $8 at best. Not that I'm stingy or broke, but I'd like to get more content for $20, because what they're releasing is so little content-wise that they might as well release it for free and nobody will even notice it.
I'd give them $40, or $60, but for real content and proof that they are working on improving all aspects of the game. They could start by deploying European servers in the continent of Europe so they can reduce the lag of EU players and show that they care about them. They can also improve their launcher and how it downloads things, also modify their outdated engine to at least be more stable on modern OSes that their players use.
Since they are completely ignoring the problems that their game has, they don't deserve my money, I guess they will probably get by just fine without my financial contribution, but I won't pay for a game that's in such a sorry state.
I love Lord of the Rings and would love to play a LOTR MMORPG, but not one such as this where F2P trash Asian MMOs provide better quality. I guess I will have to wait for Amazon's LOTR MMO and see if it's going to be a failure or something less of a failure that might actually survive and enjoy some success.
They have been doing that for a long time now. They don't have any money to hire real artists to create new assets for the game and just trying to scrape by as long as they can.
All this trailer showed, was a lot of reused assets from previous expansions like Mines of Moria and ghost mobs who they give a red color (WTF? seriously? That looked so out of place and fake! ).

Edit. You can also wait a few months and buy it in the cash shop with the points you gained from playing and being subscribed, making it essentially free for the patient among us.

Hell, in some games I have seen a skin sell for 20 bucks in their store, just a cosmetic skin, alone, for 20 dollars.
So again.. I have no idea what the hang up is.
If you just have a bug up your ass about this company, that is another story, but that in no way affects that 20 for an expansion, is a fair price.
If you think $20 is too much, then don't buy it, but all in all, across many games and what is out, and what you can get for 20 bucks. But keep in mind that selling content is how they make their money in LOTRO and DDO.
Just like in GW2, cosmetics are how they make money. Sure you can get some decent cosmetics for free in GW2, even the iconic legendary cosmetic skins/items, are free, but that does not mean that they won't sell a mount skin for 20 bucks. Because that is exactly what they did.
People complained then too, and how it costs too much, so what, if you don't think it's worth it, don't buy it.
But they need to make their dollar, and SSG sells content, so that is how they need to make their dollar.
DDO, their sister game, just put out an expansion for $40 (base) and 120 for the whole package deal.
Deal with it, or don't.
Let me clue you in, I quit DDO for a years, because I fed up with how they handled loot and gear, and screwing up the game.. they limped along just fine without me for those years, they will continue to limp along just fine without you.
I know exactly why they are doing it and if they were transparent about it I'd be sympathetic. I think they would have been better off with reasonably priced content and separate MTX supporter packs. Well that and actually being honest with the players. But they chose the Pay For Power option long ago and then moved into P2W.
You can justify their model all you want. That doesn't mean they were forced to do it that way to keep being profitable. and what you can't justify is how poor they are in terms of transparency.
I can't imagine many people love SSG. What they love is that their games are still running and getting new content.
However, their games fill a niche' group, that nothing else seems to even remotely come close to.
Not sure what transparency you are looking for as far as selling content goes, I mean, every company is out to make money, so, saying "Yo, we need to make some cash" would be so ostentatious that they might as well say "Yo, water is wet"
As for their model, what alternate model would you suggest for them?
Personally, I believe the model of selling playable content (DLC's) is the best model for a F2P game, because that way, the game keeps expanding and growing, players still go out and earn all their gear and marks as opposed to just buying it, and that keeps the whole theme of working for what you have, as opposed to a card swipe.
If you bought the Forever ViP, truth be told, they should have dumped that when they dumped Turbine, the fact that they still honored that through transitions of not only publisher but also developer, shows that they are at least trying to do right by their player base, there is the other chance that there was some legal issue and they could not cancel the forever VIP, and if that is the case, I also don't blame them for trying to circumvent it, and have to give them kudos for lasting this long before they made a solid push to exactly that.
The biggest issue isn't even the overpriced expansions or even that they'd redefined what an expansion is just to get more money from VIPs. It's the reliance on pay for power, sometimes P2W, stuff in the shop. And they clearly have no alternate solution to that.
I'm really not sure how much further they can go in terms of gouging the VIPs though. I guess we'll see of the next 18 months.
2) LI scroll shortcuts - they've admitted the system is a mess, after a VERY long period of complaints. but they refused to actually lay out a fix. We all know why that is.
3) Virtue upgrades that can only be acquired in the store or from someone who uses it
That good enough?
I don't really come here to argue with closed minded jerks so I'm gonna ignore you now.
