This past week the Shadowlands Pre-Patch went live for everyone currently playing World of Warcraft. However, this pre-patch is a bit different for two big reasons. The first is although all of the significant system changes have gone live, we have not started the pre-patch event, and we have absolutely no idea when that will start. Secondly, we have no idea at all when Shadowlands will launch. We could potentially be in the most prolonged pre-patch phase we have ever seen. This, of course, has

I'm enjoying rolling more alts and focusing on a given expansion with the new leveling experience. Gives me a chance to collect some of the things I missed. I was trying to do this chronologically starting with TBC but I hear WoD is popular due to rares, etc.

I just resubbed and the leveling system is way better than what they had before. Once you start to do level sync where every level feels exactly the same, you better make leveling super fast and they have. The leveling dungeons have been a bit of a challenge as well which has been fun. I still prefer classic for a thousand different reasons but now I have a reason to play retail again.

I've been working on my goal to cap all classes by the time sl drops. On the weekend i made a shaman, and warrior, and essentially parked them on the beach in exiles reach. It's nice to not have to fiddle too much with all the new customization options when creating a character as you can always tweak your character whenever you want later on.

First things first, i want to finish capping my pally which was level 26 and chose mop. Within a few levels i was already presented with a plethora of cut scenes and story i I've never had the privilege before, even after running 9 toons through there over the last year or so when i returned to wow.

Being that i stopped at cata and returned at bfa, i'm looking at a serious amount, well tbh, mountains of content i've never experienced before. I was originally just happy the leveling was going to be better than before, never thought it'd be this superior. Thank goodness for Allied races, lots of expansions i want to explore.

Once the pally is capped (tonight) i'm going to pick legion not only becasue it's an expansion which i had missed but also to unlock the two remaining allied races i want.

Then the remaining alt to complete the all 12 classes capped goal, i'm seriously thinking BFA, even though i played it inside out, it's an atmosphere thing i guess, just love the zones, story.

My other option would be mop (again? yes! lol) from scratch as i'm unsure how dropping into one of chromie's option works when you're already half way to cap in that am i going to miss half.

Once all 12 are capped and all allied races unlocked, i want to pick 4 classes to main in SL, so far that will be Warlock (always), Pally, Hunter, and ? (druid or disc so far, two more alts might change mind.)

Then i want to check out more expansion's i missed and or revisit. 5 allied, first up surprisingly i want to check out WoD, i have a feeling this expansion just might be a delight in this format. Beyond that i'm sure i''ll run through whatever remains, including MoP.

So... i'm not in a huge rush for sl to drop any time soon, obv.

MEh MMOs were all about leveling your character and making levels mean something then you finally reach the final level. Now its end game stuff. they might as well just make everyone start max level since you can hit it in a few hours anyways. Lost interest in these games that just cater more and more to ADD kids

It makes me wonder who they are catering to.  I'm just not sure who's complaining about leveling their first character in the game.  Heirlooms were fine for alts and you could just dungeon finder for most of it if you wanted.

The server hopping private server community is all about the fast leveling rates.  But do the current subs really level that many alts?  If not, then they are doing it for the potential new players.

I'd love to see the data on how many people buy the game and quit due to having to level through so many expansions.  Or how many refuse to buy the game because of the number of expansions.

At least new players can still do all of the expansions if they want to for fun.  But there is literally no incentive to do so.  Maybe this is Blizzards way of avoiding the costly revamps of Cataclysm and steering players to only the new content.

It was a mess before, for example, i leveled 9 toons to cap the old way, 1 to 60 is still superior and even more so when compared to how leveling through expansions worked.

When you hit an expansion, of the average 5 zones, you could only do half of one before there was no more reason to remain, you out leveled the entire expansion, you'd drop all quests and move to the next expansion.

With the new way, i entered mop on a pally alt i was working on when 9.0 went live. This alt was half way to cap at 26, by the time i was low 30's i had already experienced a plethora more cut scenes and story then i ever did while leveling 9 toons through there.

This new way you stay in the expansion of choice, more lore, more story, a much more sensible leveling experience.

Of note entering a chromie time half way to cap doesn't work out so well as once you hit 50 everything grays out upon returning to normal time. But don't despair champion, Magni Bronzebeard arrives to get you all geared up.

If you want, you can still level up the old way as well, just another option and options are good.

Dungeons in Chromie time (atm) are locked into that expansion. People are complaining (when are they not?) about the length of time it takes to get into one, and that's all becasue they want to bum rush cap, which is silly becasue if you want to race to cap you quest and do pet battles, lots of pet battles.

In the old leveling system i noticed that pet battles was superior amount of xp, and a pb only takes a couple minutes. Due to the guild in limbo (waiting for sl) i stopped doing dungeon leveling and started questing my alts and is when i stumbled upon this, it's faster than running d's.

Depending on your side? good news/bad news this hasn't changed in 9.0. Me it's good news as i like to bump my level at times, you know almost next level, only need a wee boost, PB... MINI DING!

In 9 you get what it seems like (to me) 10% of a level for 1 battle, and the xp reward scales with your level. I'm on a new alt and not leveled in that far as yet. btw Exiles reach is such a good intro. Bottom line for anyone wanting to cap asap, the whole process is fast af if you want it to be, which personally, and in turn lets quester's slow down and enjoy content while still feel like they are leveling at a decent rate without rushing.

Every alt from now on i'll be doing the expansion's i pick proper, reading quests, exploring. Surprise! many players play this way, it's not about racing to cap, it's about enjoying the leveling experience "the journey". There are loads and loads of great content people completely miss out due to it all being about racing to cap, hopefully with the new leveling system more players will get to experience the journey too.
