Rather more concerned that is has less quest content than the Witcher 3, that said I never turn up my perfectly pixeled nose at a graphics improvement.

Does it have less quest content? Or isn't it just that the main quest is shorter?
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Shorter "MAIN" quest works for me, usually i like to get that our of the way then when in the mood explore and do side stuff.
Super long main story with sp games meh, i'll be jonesing way too hard to get back to progression play (mmorpg's) before i'd ever finish (most likely).

I don't think they said that the side quests make up for it and if they did I am sure they would point that out. The fact they brought this up means it can't be a marginal difference. Lets say it was only 10% shorter, would fans even notice? So it must be a significant reduction.
Anyway we can mull over how significant the difference is in Lizzie's Bar when it launches, I don't see this as some sort of deal breaker, it will still be "big game".
Sorry ME Andromeda but I couldn't watch that video and not think of you:

Yeah. I don't care. Call me when someone makes a third person mod so I can play this game properly.
crap i forgot about that. i mean i like 1st but rpg, having your character in the world is a huge immersion factor.
Immersion is a tricky subject.
For some, first person is more immersive, and that's their entire reason for the perspective.
For me, being represented by 2 hands and a gun is less immersive. It makes me no longer care about my character. And for me, first person RPGs give me the feeling of being of being "cheap" and "fake," to use Wizardry terminology. They're all really bad from a combat standpoint, and items seem to devolve into the same handful of low poly food items looted off shelves.
Aka, I didn't like Outer Worlds very much. I don't like Bethesda RPGs, where the 3rd person is compromised by the 1st person. But I did like the Witcher, and I'm disappointed to see them move away from that. I guess a multiplayer mode no one asked for was more important.
I like to switch to 1st from time to time to get a glimpse of the world from my characters point of view, how does it look for them, not me, them, and play that way here and there, but the other 90% of the time, 3rd.

That would be me. I find 1st person far more immersive. Actually I don't find 3rd person immersive at all.
I enjoy it, but it's more like I'm watching a character doing things then being the one doing things.
Wild, and for me i feel like i'm just a camera walking around. Hey whatever works right.
Is it the end of the world for me, not even close, and yeah once upon a time my whole gaming world was 1st person so... it's not like i can't play that way or will even mind, i just prefer the option.
Honestly can't remember the games, but for some, the 3rd sucks and will play it all in 1st, and others 1st is terrible and play it all in 3rd.

I wonder if it's an age thing? I mean, some of my first early games (other than original atari) were Doom, Myst, and Hexen.
3rd person is a better choice when situational awareness is key but I find single player games designed from the ground up for 1st person view much more immersive.
3rd works best in MMOs when you are in a group with friends and enemies coming at you from all sides. It wouldn't surprise me at all if CP 2077 adds 3rd person when they add multiplayer in a couple of years.
Anyway this is kind of the reverse of the backlash ESO got just before release from TES fans used to first person who said they wouldn't play ESO because it was a 3rd person game.

Frankly, I just don't like being told how to play my game. If your studio built itself on 3rd person RPGs, suddenly deciding that isn't good enough isn't fair to part of your consumer base. And as one spited by that, it is my choice not to support it.
It's fair enough for you as a studio to include first person camera as a more "immersive" way to play your game. But it isn't fair enough for your studio to tell me that the way I've been enjoying your games for years isn't immersive.
I'm curious if it will have language filters and if you can block more 'adult' content. Or at least add censor bars lol If not I can set the language to Korean but I am still curious how aggressive the more adult content will be on screen. I play many games on my living room tv and if I play this game at some point in the far future it will be on Xbox
This is not the game you would want to play in the living room in front of your kids.
As far its been answered by devs, you cannot block more adult content, not sure about language but in game content is uncensored
They remain pretty steady that the game is 18+ with "full nudity, illicit drug use and intense sexual relations"
Well not the game for me then. Enjoy people!
My dude, that truly bummed me out reading that.

It's not a question of whether they are fair to their fans or not. It's a question of whether they try to make their games better than before or just try to keep them identical so that old fans wouldn't be disappointed by changes.

Eh ... but then you are saying that they can't explore other ways of playing, other games.
I mean, I get that there are expectations. If a developer made its name making 4X games and suddenly they came out with a side scroller, that would seem odd and different.
But it could also seem like they wanted to do other things.
Also, wasn't the first Witcher game based on the Neverwinter Nights engine? I think that was part of the reason it was a 3rd person game.
And maybe the developers do feel like 1st person is more immersive after making 3 games.
I can't say.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Well, if first person is "trying something new" for them, then that's their prerogative, and they can deal with both the positive and negative consequences of that.
If first person RPGs are their new permanent direction, then CD Projeckt Red is CD Projeckt Dead to me. They were the one western RPG studio I actually liked, but there's no shortage of 3rd person and isometric JRPGs I can be playing instead.
It became an insult at the point that they announced a multiplayer mode as a better use of their resources. Fuck the multiplayer mode.

The only way for me that that would feel more immersive would be if this was a vr game and I was actually using my hands to grab stuff and feet to walk. If not its still just my hands on a mouse and a keyboard and my butt in a chair staring at a set of disjointed hands and feet on a flat screen.

Them changing/switching like that i get your point.
Short story short i played Witcher 1, fiddled briefly with 2 and watched my son play 3 to the max.
Thinking about it, they are somewhat sending mixed signals, is this an rpg or just a shooter with cool wep mods?
I've not played a shooter in eons, thinking about that kinda,, hmmmm a shooter!
Much like dos2 haven't played isometric in eons either turned into a huge hit for me.
In a world where i can not stick with any single player game lately, Red Dead 2 on pc, Mafia 1 DE, Yakuza 0 all amazing, all legendary games, but a couple hours later i'm done and back to mmorpg's.
A straight up shooter might be the ticket.
Wasn't going to get 2077 straight out of the gate, when i felt like it was the plan, as in day after launch? next year? nobody knows. Interest is up, a bit.

I know this is important to many, but I just don't get the concern about first person and over the shoulder. If this were a 'FPS' or a flight game where you could only see over the pilots shoulder I would understand concerns about over the shoulder view. Or if this were a MMORPG, I would understand concerns it was first person. But for solo and co-op games I really struggle to see why perspective is important. For example in the right sort of game, say horror a co-op with first person would be very tense.
