Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed Again, This Time To December 10th | MMORPG.com

Cyberpunk 2077, a game announced in 2012 and has seen countless delays, has been delayed once again. While still hitting in 2020, CD Projekt Red announced today it's pushing the release of what is this year's most anticipated game by 21 days, now releasing on December 10th.

Doesn't effect me personally, as I will be very busy with Trails of Cold Steel 3 & 4 and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity for the remainder of the year.

I'm fine with any studio that bites the bullet and decides a great game is more important than launching an incredibly buggy game while hoping for forgiveness, so they can bring in a few bucks. That has been the swan song of more games than I can count.

That will all depend on how the release is. If it works for everyone on all systems ok...then they managed everything fine. If it is still a mess on release...then they will be crucified.

I didn't see, did it go gold on the next gen consoles as well? Because it sounds like the delay is due to the new consoles coming out.

I'm guessing gold just means content complete, but full of bugs. Sounds like they're relying on a day 1 patch to iron those out - and that deserves criticism.

Moreover, last minute delays (of which they've had multiple this year) also deserve criticism. People book vacations for games - especially major releases. Delays should be announced within months of release, not weeks.

Personally, I wish they'd just delay it until next year. Rather people work safe and less stressed given the current global situation and even just charge more as a result vs trying to crunch the hell out of this in the middle of a pandemic. I know some people can't understand this, but humans make these things that we tend to enjoy. Treating them as such only makes sense....

Like he said, gold means it's all there. No more changes, you can play the game, etc. But apparently gold doesn't mean all the bugs (or at least important bugs) are fixed.

I think part of the issue is that they really need this game to be a hit. Blue said that they have spent a lot of money and really need to make it back. Push it back a year means they are paying an additional year of operating cost. They might not have that.

I expect to see another delay into February or March 2021. Just because December 10th is a highly unusual release window, and could potentially have a negative impact on sales.

At this point I think what's happening is the "free upgrade" to next gen is becoming an issue for them.

If they delay it to Dec 10th then PS5 @ series X are out to the public and they WILL buy 2077 on that console.

I mean they offered a free upgrade which is essentially a free game and they would be losing sales basically.

My hype has died down alot right now but I already have it pre-ordered and will still play it.

They could release it on current gen but like I said "money".

I'm not mad at console gaming in particular, this isn't console gaming's fault, but jesus...

I don't remember even Bethesda doing this when they were trying to line up the release windows for Morrowind and Oblivion; they missed both console windows and released PC versions on schedule, and just released the console versions when they were ready.

But... i mean, it's honestly hard for me to be mad at CDPR either, it just seems like this whole PS5 and Xbox SX has put the release in a very precarious position, and it sucks.

If this were the mid 2000's or even the late 2000's, the PC and console releases for a game wouldn't have the type of value they have today; a big game like Cyberpunk2077, for reason's that only can only translate into cooperate sales figures.... HAS to release on all platforms at the same time.

I really hate the future, but I also love it, but I also hate it.

Delays are fine....... I want a good, refined game not a buggy half-baked mess. It is worth the wait if they do it right.

Talking to my boys on the weekend one was still on board for preordering, the other already decided to hold off.

Funny i mentioned to them that i don't know one person at work anymore who is pre-ordering, all were excited af - totally pre-ordering, and now all are wait and see, wait for reviews, attitude...
