Simply wow & well done to the pilot of the FC Nanachi, a carrier no less. I'm not even playing ED currently, but dang I know what was accomplished is a feat.
I wonder if he/she ever used those Fuel Rats in ED I've read about?
Remember when we thought of Elite Dangerous as a Star Citizen competitor? It's time we flipped that on it's head, because ED actually exists.
I gotta think too that Odyssey, the upcoming expansion, is aimed squarely at SC.
I don't know, I think it might be more aimed at getting new players: If Elite kept adding more and more space stuff, a lot of their current fans would likely to be happy, but it'd be hard to sell to people who aren't already fans of space flying.
Being able to pilot your own ship, land it on a planet, and then go do some FPS shooting sound awesome enough that it's easier to sell.
I wonder why this is news? Because someone published it on Reddit? Yes, it is quite a feat to do that, but this player is not the 1st one to do it.
In the time I played ED on the PS4 3 of my fellow Squad members (IPXWing) had already done that and I know of a couple of Fatherhood members who did it as well. And I haven't played ED on the PS4 for at least a year by now.
Also worth to note that an exploration on EDSM started nearly a year ago with the same goal. That expedition should end around now.

I don't play ED, I never knew this kind of stuff was possible, I'm glad this was posted, I am now looking into playing the game
Just to point out, there are many more solar systems in the real Milky Way. Between ten and 100 Billion in fact.
Incredible feat for this guy mind you, an answer for gamers like me who think all players are butterflies these days.
I have always seen ED and NMS as competitors to SC. You don't have to exactly match another games gameplay to be in competition with it. They are close enough and as time marches on with ED and NMS putting in more features, they become even more directly competing to the experience SC is hoping to give at launch. That said this is not a genre over populated with games, how much will playing one mean you don't want to play another?

So even in a thread that isn't about SC. You bring up SC. This is a moment about Elite. Almost feels like someone could be talking about WoW and their Draeni space ships, and someone would just have to mention SC.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.

Saying that SC has nothing to do with ED is like saying Mario has nothing to do with Sonic, Fire Emblem has nothing to do with XCom, Fortnite has nothing to do with PUBG, The Witcher 3 has nothing to do with Skyrim, or EA has nothing to do with unlicensed casinos for kids.
It's self-evidently wrong, and bringing up main competitors and how they stack up is absolutely relevant.

people always talk about what they fear is better than what they like.
