Also there was no mention of armed robbery or anything like that.

I hope those employees are able to leave this situation unharmed. This is terrible.

P.S. - What is the atheist equivalent of "thoughts and prayers?" Just thoughts?

LOL You said that there was nothing about an armed robbery but straight up in the article it was quoted from a tweet, by the news outlet... and the proof is right there for you to look at. It was later determined to be a hoax, and they updated the article as news became available, so in reality, their article was more comprehensive than yours, and you're wrong.

It wasn't a hostage situation, it wasn't a robbery it wasn't something on the roof now was it.

    Just sayin'

    Wrong :)

Something was mistranslated from french to english but since I live in QC and speak both...

My thread has all the correct info as it came out translated correctly.

    Just saying ;)

@IceAge was looking to direct people to accurate information as it was happening not BS speculation from twitter that was misinterpreted and factually wrong.

The tweet came directly from the CBC that was quoted, it's not like they translated the tweet, it was the CBC that did, and posted it.

So again... Check the tweet, it's right there in the article... they reported on it as it became available.

I did the cbc news was wrong, they are an English news channels, they were not there.  TVA/LCN is french from QC and they were covering live on the spot with proper accurate info.  Also the robbery thing was BS speculation from some random joe on twitter.

You can see on the article here the robbery thing was crossed out AFTER I pointed out it was wrong.

It's a little funny how I am taking shit, after the fact, for wanting to give out accurate info on something that was happening practically in my back yard and being accused of being some kind of attention seeker and what not by people that like to post just to be emo edgy....lol

Viper was just being funny though and made me chuckle I have to say!

Conspiracy, it was a hoax, was either an inside job, or someone sneaking into the server room to deploy a RAT, be watching the news...

Or... it was maybe crossed out after more news became available. Could be?

But you're acting like they were wrong for writing news that was posted by the CBC... like it's the fault of those here for staying up to date with the other news sources.

In the end whether its your thread or this one, it all ended in the same conclusion, corroborated by several outlets, and both threads have timelines of what was reported, like it or not.

No. I was here before it was correct while it was corrected and after it was corrected

    This isn't about me.

What I am saying is my thread I was directly  giving the proper info straight from TVA which was on site and had direct contact with the police. CBC was taking info from third parties AND TVA but were not reporting what was said correctly.

Also they were behind in what they were reporting on top of getting it wrong until they corrected much later on.

Even the article here was using the same live stream I was but somehow getting info that was late and incorrect from cbc instead of the correct info from the live stream.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyways I am done here you guys keep on keeping on!

One thing i find very odd are the people that were barricaded on the roof.Police escorted them down with their hands raised in the air.
I also saw an citizen being interviewed that stated a female officer was running through the crowd with an open firearm yelling at people to move.

So this reminded me of the few recent cases of swatting where the officers automatically pulled out their guns and shot people based on a "telephone call".

This is VERY sloppy use of firearms and we need laws to tackle this problem.Basically a phone call is all that is needed for an officer to brand a weapon that kills people and HAS in the past killed innocent people.

IF and i say IF there was an actual hostage situation, would running through a street with innocent pedestrians with a gun branded do ANYTHING to help the situation?I highly doubt that officer is even trained in hostage situations nor would be the one to act or communicate.

Still I would rather the police responded quickly, rather than spending too much time  trying to verify the situation. With such events you can't be 100% sure what's happened until it is over, the police have to take action assuming such calls are real.

In Cronkite's days they used honest to goodness reporters for details, not bloggers.
Over the last twenty years reporters replaced journalism with "checking the internet". I remember a when a wiki hoax was done on a football manager. They put in that he had managed a pop band early in his career. When the guy unfortunately died the news item on most broadcasting stations including the BBC mentioned he was a former band manager. No fact checking what so ever.

Another big change is quite a lot of "news" is now a game of "he said, she said". What anyone in the public eye says, without verification sometimes is considered worthy of reporting. Little or no depth here, the ramifications of the statement or believability are not looked into. Then it is a game of tit for tat or denials and accusation all of which are reported as news.

This has been noticeable particularly in Broadcasters who used to be our gold standard compared to the papers, they now do the sort of reporting that they used to criticise the tabloids for.

You guys keep arguing over the swatting. I'm more impressed by the fact the cops arrived and whipped their weapons out in a second based on a dubious call on a company that has been swatted before. Lol.

Seems pretty stupid all in all. Though the fuck is up with the people on the roof...dudes that's the last place you wanna go lol...

Like I worked for a organization that had protocols for shooters at work. Roof was literally where you go to die lol. Like who the fuck thinks going higher up is a survival strategy lol.
