I think EA sees grand RPG's as very expensive games which do not have sufficient multiplayer angle to generate revenue. It is not a matter of them seeing this genre as risky, though they may do, it is a matter of how much potential profit any game has. There was that Star Wars game that was turned down because the microtransactions where not good enough, corporate thinking is all that matters to such companies.
Let the younger generation get in there and perhaps help change the stagnated and depressive ideology of game design.

I'm so tired of people pretending that DA Inquisition was good just because it was bigger than 2. Inquisition dropped all pretense of being an RPG with meaningful choices in favor of MMO-style mundane questing. Terrible game.
It's not just video game companies. Same thing happened to Wizards of the Coast when bought by Hasbro. I was there. Just saying.
