I'm also curious about "The Pathless"

Looks beautiful. Here's a guy, I like his you tube commentary. Not sure if I'd like his other stuff and I think he might lean toward a bit of immaturity, but his youtube commentary is very well done.

Do you play formal classical style or do you just prefer the pretty silvery sounds of nylon strings? Have fun with it!

lol nope classical guitar, fingernails and all. I majored in it in college, changed my major to harp, made my living in college as a harpest until I realized I would play weddings for the rest of my life and then changed my major to musical composition.

    thanks for asking!

    DDO

Also, I have zero interest in Cyberpunk 2077.
  • psychosiz1psychosiz1 Member UncommonPosts: 200
I am very interested in Cyberpunk 2077 but will not be purchasing or playing for a few weeks until I can see how stable the game is. I don't want to jump into a game with issues. Until then, I will playing Master of Orion and NHL 21. I will also be messing around with Logic Pro X, my keyboard and Omnisphere 2.

I won't be buying it (at full price) because of the lack of 3rd person.

So, it's backlog time. So far, tackling Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning and... it doesn't hold up to my memory of it. The combat feels janky and unresponsive. Maybe it's that the remaster upped the difficulty and I'm actually noticing the flaws in its combat that I didn't when it was ez mode.

I'm every bit as interested in Cyberpunk as I was in TLoU2, and I haven't bought that one yet either. I've been doing a good job clearing out older backlog games lately. I got my Series X last week and did the whole 3 years of Gold to Game Pass Ultimate for $1 thing, so after finishing The Council I just started Jedi Fallen Order. Still questing through the new WoW zones, as well.

Morbid: The Seven Acolytes on Switch
    LotRO

Was going to buy Sakuna of Rice and Ruin and Cris Tales but the first one is sold out everywhere (I want the physical Switch version) and the second one has been delayed. So I got Tokyo mirage Sessions and Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Version instead in a Black Friday sale and starting those soon.

    /Cheers,

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

I'm playing SnowRunner with another person and having fun. Waiting for preloads to start for Cyberpunk so it's ready on thursday.

Also started a new run of Factorio with Bob's. As for idle games that I check once or twice a day, Idlescape and Legends of Idleon.

My thoughts reading about how many games some of you play / hop through.

I just don't get it. As the year comes to a close I am on my usual pace ... two single player games I broke the seal on and played for a few hours along with 1500 plus hours in FO76.

I'm thinking most of you aren't nearly as dedicated...err as addicted to progession as I am.  ;)

"You tend to play progression based games instead of story based games."

I'd say the word exclusively would be more applicable, hence why I was almost immediately drawn to RPGs back in the 80s instead of adventure or other sorts of games.

The backstory in RPGs was nice, but it was really the progession which appealed to me.

More levels, more power, more abilities, more gold, more gear, more, more, more....until it inevitably stopped once I beat the floozle.

Then I discover MMORPGS around 2001 and it was like...hamster nirvana.

Of course there's been times when it felt a lot like this which is when I usually switched to a new game to do it all again.

I love both story and progression, play the whole darn thing, I still can't get over seeing how few people get to various points/events/missions; Steam shows you the percentage that have done something in the game. Why do people buy a game if they only intend to play half of it?

What is the most important? Well story in solo player games and progression in multiplayer games. Lets just leave out PVP, puzzles and the rest for now, we game for many reasons it is hard to rank them.

Single player RPGs have both, story and progression. It's my favorite mix.

I can't speak to what others do but I know personally I prefer to play story or adventure based games so I don't 'hop' I just play the game I bought and then move to the next. Like I just played and loved AC: Valhalla and beat it and now am on to Watch Dogs Legion
I do have a few that I have returned to for a period of time like The Division 2 but even that I have 600 hours in and feel I have get what I wanted to out of it.

I think it just illustrates how vast the experiences can be for games and gamers.

I love that there are games that cater to story, sandbox, casual, progression and every other kind of gamer in-between.

I'm an omni gamer...I usually like the standout games in pretty much every genre of videogame and tabletop game. I'm generally always progressing/doing chores in WoW or whatever MMO while also playing through some single-player game, with an occasional session of multiplayer something. Then I cleanse my palette of the single-player narrative with a shorter indie game or two before diving into the next single-player experience. Every couple years my palette cleanser will be a month of sports/racing/fighting rather than the indies, then on to the next single-player story.

The plus side is that I NEVER run out of things to play.

Yeah...but they come to an end....  :/

Growing up I first read comic books, then discovered Sci Fi anthologies, gravitating to novellas, then increasingly larger novels (loved when over 800 pages) and finally serial novels, a great joy when there were 10 or more.

See, my entire life has been progression driven, even my hobbies.

But even the Dark Tower series finally came to an (ignanomous) end, as all eventually do, same with EVE in gaming, but hey it was a great ten year run.
