Performance while driving in game has been pretty bad for me... otherwise the game runs fine.
But 60fps at 4k while driving... even 3080s aren't getting that from reviews I've watched... I can't find any 3000 series anywhere nor 6800 series.
Fast travel trains are everywhere in game so don't really need to drive much
Yeah That's exactly my point. Where's my 144hz monitor useful to anyway ?

I know that the "in thing" is to get games to run at over "100fps". But, you really can not see that much of a difference between 60 and 100fps. The human eye is just not set up that way. It fact, most people would not notice much difference at 30 to 60fps. I know, if the vid card can do 200fps that is what every game should do.

Cutting edge just launched games on the PC are not going to be the ones that run at the best FPS, but those of us who can wait will get a better ride when they play. In many ways you are facing the issues of early adopters.

It fact, most people would not notice much difference at 30 to 60fps. I know, if the vid card can do 200fps that is what every game should do.
I don't agree, not saying the difference is huge but it is very noticeable.
Some can't some can because not all human eyes see 100% the same.
I can tell the difference up to maybe 120 or 130, above that it looks the same to me.
Some people can see the difference up to 160s - very few can see the difference above, but some competitive gamers have shown in tests that they benefit a few % additional accuracy at 200fps and above, pretty much the reason why we have 240hz and 320hz monitors now,
so that those competitive shooter gamers can get their 2% better accuracy
So yeah I think that when it comes to video games I think its pretty common for gamers to see the difference way above 60fps on adaptive display monitors
Seeing and benefiting are two different things: If the picture displays some change 1 ms earlier, then you can start reacting to it 1 ms earlier. That's especially beneficial if you're aiming (moving your mouse) and want to make some small real-time corrections to the movement based on how the screen shows you've moved.
Humans can't often see any difference between high and low FPS. But in FPS-games the higher FPS is still beneficial.
This looks it'll be pretty good ride, but some other time, i can't stop playing Shadowlands for this. One of two things might happen.
I'll buy it and then like it for an hour or so and then stop playing and go back to SL and say i'll play it some other time and never do.
or
I might get so hooked i'll stop playing SL altogether, i'd bet on the former from my latest experiences with SP games.
When people say SL just feels the same, (i know exactly how you feel), welcome to my over a f'ing decade ago, cata and up that's how i felt. Came back for classic stayed for BFA and in love with SL. A decade break helps.
Knowing that feeling, that's how i've been feeling with all single player games for long time now, all just the f'ing same.
RDR2 great example even waited for the PC version and yeah AWESOME for a couple hours and then like meh, finish it some other time, ffs i'm still in the psychiatrist office in GTA5 ffs, online OMFG that's a blast.
I really thought RDR2 would have demolished that feeling, which leaves me feeling i doubt Cyberpunk 2077 will either.
So what you do in this situation is stop trying to make it work. Walk away, find another hobby, another genre, different type of game, you're burned out on whatever is feeling the same is all, doesn't mean the love is gone.

I just don't understand these big releases. Why is everyone so "oooh-ahhh" about it? If you ask me, I'd rather have more Shadowrun games. I don't have anything truly new until Nioh 2.

Because it's absolutely beautiful work with both world and characters and there is the hope that the story as well as immersion will be worth it?
Not sure why it's hard to understand.

I'm glad that it will be like that, but it personally does nothing for me. I mean, I was never a fan of CD Projekt games. Just not my kind of thing, just like Rockstar. You know, I have questionnable taste(s).
Regardless, the point wasn't Cyberpunk itself, but bigmchuge blockbuster releases in general. I know that marketing invests a LOT of money into skewing people's perceptions, but I just can't understand why I'd be excited just because "tonnes" of others are. Wtf if you ask me.

I think some people can be skewed but I also think there are a lot of people who know what they want and what they like and won't buy just because there is an ad.
In truth, I think most people won't buy just because there is an ad. If that was the case then tons of money would be put in everything thinking it will sell but that's just not the case.

Maybe I'm overestimating or you're underestimating the power of marketing, but it is there. Mostly to create that "everyone plays it ; so should I" momentum. I understand mechanics thereof, but I just can't see myself playing something just because it is "hot". But then again, this applies to my thoughts about life in general. Very much this. The human eye operates between the 30 fps and 60 fps, with surprisingly little variation. Faster fps is essentially wasted.
Unless some of our posters are confessing to be non-human.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

Witcher 3 sold 28 million copies (this number is from 2019), and if you go by Steam's review scores 98% of people who bought it also liked it.
Marketing and people jumping on the hype explain only some of the excitement. Usually big releases also have a big audience who are hyped because they really liked previous game by same developers and want more from them.

Hype is not necessarily a manufactured phenomenon. It's a bit of a chicken and egg thing. A lot of people can like and look forward to a game because it's their kind of game and if enough people feel that way hype can generate organically.
Now, the marketing people may run with it and crank it up to obnoxious extremes and bring along those who weren't all that interested in the first place but that does not invalidate the original organic hype from those who were.
Just think about Nioh2 generating the same level of hype CP2077 has. Does that make you someone playing something "just because it's hot" when you do play it or are you just someone who was and is genuinely hyped for your kind of game?

It is an interesting take. I mean take the marketing for the PS5
And to your point about Cyberpunk. They had a marketing campaign of 40%-50% of the entire development budget. Some say it may have ended up closer to 100% once done.
Marketing has a profound impact on sales and hype and people seem to readily buy into it if impressions are seen enough.
It is a fascinating thing.
Maybe it's just me and my friends. I love a good marketing campaign but never buy off of marketing. I will look at a product if it seems fitting but once I look into it, if it's not great, then I won't buy it.
However, I'll offer this, companies spend millions on marketing yet not everything sells. I'll offer the idea that if a product is good then marketing can get people to buy it. But if the product is not good then no amount of marketing iwll get people to buy enough of it to make it worth while.

Well I can agree and disagree with that.
There are plenty of things that market heavy and sell well and then audiences are not enamored with it and it dies off but they still made their money back and then some. Like Battleborn or a Call of Duty or Battlefield.
There are plenty of things that do not market well and do not sell well like Titanfall 2.
Hollywood and the music industry is known for this even more.
Some of the resistance to marketing is said as "well me and my friends....." Yet it still works. So obviously someone is buying into it. It works. Well. The number of impressions a product or media gets can have a direct correlation to sales. Put something in front of enough people enough times and your sales will go up. Add streamers to that and you can have a perfect storm for success. Whether it is considered 'good' or not. It is not always true but it is true more than many would care to admit.
But if that was completely true all any business would have to do, whether they are developers or movie studios or the music industry, is put x dollars into marketing and it would be a done deal.
There wouldn't even be a question about not making money back. 'put in a lot for marketing and you are golden."

Sneaky, aren't we? Maybe should use more of those Suppa Scrolls. Isn't this pretty much the core and key to Blizzard's success? Marketing? Their games are good, but aren't actually better. They just spend a ton of money and effort in marketing them well.
On another note, the quote system with this forum software is an abomination!
No, Blizzard's secret of success is that their games are actually better than competitors.

But this don't have that much to do with CP, I just wanted to discuss this phenomenon I observed and voice my /whocares about CP. Maybe it's because it is "too hot"? Too mainstream things often repulse me, for whatever reason.
But things do fail no matter how much marketing is put in.
Isn't this pretty much the core and key to Blizzard's success? Marketing? Their games are good, but aren't actually better. They just spend a ton of money and effort in marketing them well.
On another note, the quote system with this forum software is an abomination!
I actually think they have good games.
They usually have a certain level of polish and quality and people do like them.
Not all of them are my taste but I can still recognize them for being good.
As far as I know, there isn't a game developer around who doesn't have criticism about their games from someone. but not every developer has ardent fans who like/love their games.

But it does work. I mean, we should define "work", I have a nose we could be referencing different things here. I'm mostly referencing RoI, profit etc. What did you have in mind?
So you're saying that, say, every big Hollywood blockbuster with loads of marketing is always financially successful?
That all any business has to do is put in a lot of marketing and it will be financially successful?
I don't think it works like that because, like I said, there would never be a Hollywood failure if that was the case.
Also, I should add, for those who bought the game, apparently, we can play now. It's live.
And they put a warning about seizures.

Let's party like it is 1863!
Cutting edge just launched games on the PC are not going to be the ones that run at the best FPS, but those of us who can wait will get a better ride when they play. In many ways you are facing the issues of early adopters.
I don't agree, not saying the difference is huge but it is very noticeable.
Humans can't often see any difference between high and low FPS. But in FPS-games the higher FPS is still beneficial.
Not sure why it's hard to understand.

Regardless, the point wasn't Cyberpunk itself, but bigmchuge blockbuster releases in general. I know that marketing invests a LOT of money into skewing people's perceptions, but I just can't understand why I'd be excited just because "tonnes" of others are. Wtf if you ask me.
In truth, I think most people won't buy just because there is an ad. If that was the case then tons of money would be put in everything thinking it will sell but that's just not the case.

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
Marketing and people jumping on the hype explain only some of the excitement. Usually big releases also have a big audience who are hyped because they really liked previous game by same developers and want more from them.
