But deserved. A company that has built its entire image on being the consumer-friendly company should hold itself to its own standards.

I think it's just the truth, and it's their job to try to tell that truth, not advertise.

Absolutely deserved. They, with purpose and intent, hid the truth about their game and restricted access so that misinformation would be used by the consumers to purchase a game that was distinctly different than advertised.

Gaming since Avalon Hill was making board games.

Played SWG, EVE, Fallen Earth, LOTRO, Rift, Vanguard, WoW, SWTOR, TSW, Tera
Tried Aoc, Aion, EQII, RoM, Vindictus, Darkfail, DDO, GW, PotBS

It is without question that they were purposely trying to hide the reviews. The simple of it is because only hours before release they told reviewers they could not make mention of bugs and issues.

Furthermore we all by now know of the illegal act of threatening a reviewer because they did not promote what they wanted to see in the review.
A review is NOT a direct advertisement,it is marketing and promotion but it is not supposed to be a SPONSORED article.
However they treated it exactly like a sponsored article and wanted zero negativity and all positive reviews.

Linus of LTT made a point of noting that any restrictions put on the reviews was only hours from release an that NONE of those bugs or problem areas would be ironed out by release hour.
So if you have some common sense, ask yourself WHY they would want to hide things only hours from release?Yeah it is pretty obvious right,a negative review would impact possibly millions of dollars.
So imo it certainly looked like they were trying to pull off a MISLEADING view of their product to entice sales.

Fair. But also console master race when Batmobile Arkham Knight was the opposite.

(The joke was unfortunately on all of us with how bad the game itself was).

Rem's "what if it sucks" comments are starting to sound prophetic.

CDPR were, to many, the chosen ones. If it were any other studio, I think they'd be eaten alive. But I don't think they'll ever again garner that level of goodwill. They can try to rebuild it, but people will remember the shoddy launch, and the attempts to hide the condition of the game on consoles.
